  1. I watched with interest a recent Twitch video from the Factional Fight Brothers. @McGarnicle @Faeran Gryph and Faeran were discussing their belief that some (otherwise keen) players might be losing interest after a few months of play. Faeran believed this was because although players had lots of in game rewards and achievements in the first few months, subsequently these milestones became too spread out and far apart to hold the interest of some. I too think this might be happening because in game milestones tend to be linked to each skill level reached, rather than the amount of time played, and skill-gain slows down considerably as skills rise, thus these milestones move further apart. Rewards come thick and fast in the beginning from 1-30, and are slowing down yet still keeping folk interested perhaps into the 30s and 40s skills, but after that, milestones and rewards tend to slow down to the point where paying premium for another month or year might seem like less value to some, because there can seem to be fewer visible goals on the player's horizon during that time. I want to use this space to draw up a list of the existing milestones for each skill (and I will need your help here!). I am hoping for a list of potentially game-changing features you can currently unlock, especially those for which it's worth staying or going premium, rather than just a list of all spells or items. I am also not recording the gradual improvement to the chance of successful actions with increased skill. Goals are a personal thing, but I've put in a few of my own favourites to start. I can't determine how long it will take a player to reach these milestones, because it varies between players, but the aim is to spot any gaps or desert zones where no big goal is imminently available in any given skill - so that the Devs could come along and maybe provide content to fill those gaps. If we can particularly look at giving people some juicy goals to reach in the 40-60 skill range zone, maybe this may help some players who may be dropping out due to inadequate milestones. It could be argued that because skill gain slows down as we go up in skill and goals move further apart - there really need to be *more* (rather than less) goals the higher the skill. Goals can be social / community driven as well as in game mechanics - the ability to join in the fight at unique dragon slayings or cast spells on items at Impalongs are community-set skill levels, rather than hard-coded, but which I feel are important.
  2. As I was trying to enchant grass for a neighbor, I had an idea for something that would be really helpful. Several times I've had the experience of trying to help someone and them having trouble trying to figure out how to give me permissions to do what they'd like me to do. So here's an idea... If someone with the ability to modify deed permissions (called the mayor henceforth) is present (within a certain number of tiles - should be fairly close to prevent annoyance) and they have allowed this permission request: Then when the visitor attempts something not allowed, the mayor will get a popup window that details the action attempted, permission required, and asks for a response permit once permit for x:xx time disallow do not pester me for this action/person again To make a change permanent, click here to open the deed permission management window This would allow newbies to get help without spending an hour figuring out how to let someone help them... probably a lot of things I haven't thought of with this... but it seems like it'd be helpful to everyone. 3. Simple, the ability to store unique meditation abilities in source crystals. This is a premium only feature to prevent the market being flooded with refresh and enchant crystals. Right clicking on a source crystal now gives you the option to use a meditation ability on it, this grants the crystal a single charge of that ability. Level 4 abilities take 2 charges to become usable Level 7 abilities take 3 charges to become usable Level 9 abilities take 5 charges to become usable Once a crystal has a single charge of an ability stored it is locked to that ability (attempting to use a different ability nets the message "this crystal is attuned differently"). Examining the crystal tells you the name of the ability stored and the number of charges it has "you sense 3 charges of X". Source crystals take damage (based on its QL) when their stored ability is used and lose the number of charges listed. Optional Extra : Storing a meditation ability in a crystal gives a gurenteed meditation tick that counts against your daily total. This would have to be balanced based on the number of uses a skill has per day... PvP Balance Argument : If it would break pvp, just make it unusable on PvP, simples.
  4. Granted I have little idea how the new abilities are triggered, assuming menu actions, and for that matter this can be used for something else entirely. It occurred to me while reading the Witcher saga that mouse movement could be used to simulate gestures, signs, drawing runes in the air, etc For example, mousing three vertical lines with a diagonal slash.
