  1. I am not sure what the deal is but i can drive the boat as a solo captain and then with two extra passengers and the speed is the same. I had the other two players logged out but they were on the boat so i am not sure if they were counting since they were not online or not but when i logged them on to get ready for a server crossing they did not improve the speed any at all. (regular boat not rare..etc)
  2. Sold

I've got a Knarr and you don't, so why don't you fix that by buying this one. Your neighbors are laughing at you behind your back because you keep trying to make deliveries in a Cog like some kind of poor. It's olivewood because those used to look pretty nice until it was decided boats should look bad. Its got a ~30ql anchor and a PvE ql lock just like every other boat you'll ever see. It will be 70ql by the time you buy it, so it'll outlast Wurm itself. It's named Stormbreaker at the moment because I hate naming things so if nothing else buy it so you can rename the poor thing. Here is how pricing works: You come to F20 on the Inde map and pick it up - 10sI deliver it to coastal (or damn near coastal, be reasonable) on Inde, western Xana, Deli, Cele, Exod - 11sYou want it delivered to an island in the NE corner of Pristine? We can talk but I'm probably going to charge by the hour, surely there's a shipwright on Pristine you should be talking to. Additionally, I have like 82 carpentry so I'm p good at making large crates. Let's call it 7.5c per crate? 20 crates would be 1.5s, if you want the full 43 crates I'll give you those last 3 for free, ergo 3s. Lastly, I'd prefer if you post in the thread instead of PMing me directly. Unless I know you or literally everyone knows you, I'd prefer there was some public documentation since obviously everyone would grind shipbuilding to 60+ so why would anyone ever need to trade a boat, those don't need writs or anything. Ok thanks for reading, let's get this done.
  3. If you have made bridges over water, please post what height above water and what boats have sailed under. Also, what boats may have been blocked by it. Include the bridge type please. Should help folks with planning. Thank you!
  4. Sources: Wurmpedia lists ship sizes on the following page: http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Ship Boathouse concept I would like to build (see the spolier): http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/123372-bridge-screenshots/page-7#entry1271956 Outcome: Ability to park any ship inside a boathouse without any of its masts poking through the roof of the building. Otherwise, design the roof as bridges with spaces between them to act as roof trusses so that when a ship is parked, its largest mast sits in the open space between roof trusses. Issue: Based on the above, a Caravel is 7 long x 2 wide x 7 tall (measured in tiles). If 1 storey of a building is 32 dirts, then a Caravel is approximately 224 dirts high. Given that the boathouse concept in the link above is a 3 storey high building, it means that the Caravel's masts will poke through the bridge, i.e., roof of the building resulting in cosmetic ugliness for those who care. Option 1: One way to get around that could be to set up individual flat bridges with spaces between them, i.e., roof trusses. This way, you could park a Caravel so that its largest mast pokes up between two flat bridges, i.e., roof trusses. Each flat bridge can only be max. 3 tiles wide but building two of them to act as roof trusses with a 1 tile space between them means a boathouse can accommodate a 7-tile long ship such as a Caravel perfectly. Option 2: The other issue though is that a Caravel has 3 masts so even if you park it so that its largest mast sits between roof trusses, the other two masts may still poke through one of the flat bridges. Therefore, the next option would be to build the building high enough to accommodate the Caravel's other two masts without them poking through the roof trusses and still park the Caravel so its largest mast sits between roof trusses like in option 1 above. The downside is that you have to build a taller building resulting in the need for more materials. Option 3: The final option is creating a building(s), cliffs or land bridges that are high enough (approx. 7 storeys / 224 dirts) so that when you use a flat bridge as a roof, no masts will poke through. In this case, there would be no need for roof trusses as in Option 1 or Option 2. It's essentially the same as the original boathouse concept except the building, cliff or land bridge would have to be tall enough to accommodate the largest ship dimensions (length/width/height). The biggest disadvantage is the amount of extra materials required to build it. Also, the thickness of the bridge takes up space too so you would probably have to build 8 storeys high just to be safe and avoid any mast from poking through the underside of the flat bridge used as the roof. Option 4: Same as option 3 above except uses a combination of a building that is X storeys high and an arched bridge (with steepness up to 20) so that a 7-tile high ship such as a Caravel can be parked underneath without any of its masts poking through the arched bridge used as the roof. Questions: Since the new ship models are out, measure the following in tiles: - How long is the longest ship? - How tall is the tallest ship? - How wide is the widest ship? Bonus to also know this: - How tall is each mast on the Caravel? Who already has or is willing to measure this or are all of the ships the exact same dimensions regardless of the new models? In Closing: I realize that some people don't care about the cosmetics. Others may just opt not to build a roof at all but to me that defeats the purpose of building a boathouse that has a roof generally. I just think it would be ugly to park a boat inside a boathouse and have its mast(s) poking through the roof of the boathouse. This is the whole reason for this thread, to find the best option to avoid this issue and accommodate all ship types using a single design.
  5. [11:12:27] It has a clinker-built hull assembled with iron rivets and one mast with a square yard sail. At insufficient wind it is rowed with oars. The side rudder is on the starboard side. It is locked with a lock of very poor quality. It is made from olivewood. You must use a mallet on the knarr in order to improve it. Ql: 62.184326, Dam: 0.0. The name of the owner, Vardoj, has been etched in the stern. Pickup from F20 (Inde) - 10s Delivered to Inde, Deli, or Western Xana - 11s Comes with anchor and lock/key
  6. bare with me, this is either a good idea or a ridiculous one. We all know the problem with the abandoned ship eyesore. the new textures may improve the situation but a situation it'll remain. Why not, have a server, just for ships that have been left for more than 6 months? Im sure it'll be very useful for everyone that wants to imp their SB , maybe disallow that lol. either way, it'd solve a very old problem and would also prevent short sighted players from running around imping all the ships that need, to rot. I can't imagine more than 10% of them are on a `long break` On the other hand, maybe the developers want abandoned ships everywhere and the server would look dead without them, who knows, just a suggestion, what do you think?

  13. there are times when I just accept the nutty things we have to do in wurm, but today has been nothing but frustrating. Wasted hours of sailing, to get to a hunt that was just too laggy to function. But what really gets me is the 2 hours of time I've been spending trying to stuff my knarr through cave canal entrances. Some days is can slide right out and no disembarks, but most of the time it is stuck, disembark, the alts that disembark get bugged teleporting, log them out, log in, push/pull knarr, climb back on, try again. Turn lag... trying to wiggle when stuck in an exit can sometimes get through, but because turn lag is so bad, you don't know how far you wiggled and suddenly your ship is stuck sideways in solid rock. Is this considered a bug, or simply sloppy programming? I'm tired and horribly annoyed. Forgive my tone, but come on people....
  14. Like the title says i think the ship transports are way to slow they need to be at least the same as a large cart..imo

  16. PLEASE let us push and pull our boats with passengers on board? This would save so much time, for running aground, stuck in caves, etc. Mooring anchor should be the deciding factor in push pull, not a passenger. I can have a full knarr of rocks, push/pull all I want, but one skinny 8 year old cabin boy is enough to stop me. I'm not "now" waiting for a GM to come pull me out of a cave entrance, because the cabin boy is stuck in a cave wall, with no way to disembark. Even logged out, the memory of his former existence is enough to stop me.

  20. I'd love owning sailboats, that are 1 wide, 5 draft and can hold some real cargo, like a large cart. The current sailboats are nice for a quick people transport, but if you need to do more, gotta step up to a Knarr. Really seems like there is a big gap there.
