  1. We have had great success with our program to offer Temporary Housing and help to new players, we recently had a couple people move on from Norhaven, and we have a couple open Cabins to offer anyone looking for a place to rest your head, store your stuff, eat well and have great conversation. We love to offer help and assistance to any weary travelers. Norhaven is located south of the Linton spawn, head toward the giant pyramid up the hill until you see a fountain, your there! Just a Short couple minute walk. SuperFly
  2. Asgard Is Now Recruiting First and foremost we are drama free. If we find that people aren't a good match we try resolution first, if one can't be made then we find other housing solutions for the person causing the problem. We all pay way too much money for this game to not enjoy it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Communication You must be able to speak English well enough to understand Wurm Rules and Guidelines when explained to you. The people of Asgard, and the alliance members are all fun-loving people who love to work together as a team and help out new players. Sadly, when you can't understand the language it makes it very hard to communicate. English is a must. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Location We are conveniently (or not so conveniently) located in the far south west near Newspring. On the in game map we are at 11Q. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Us Asgard is still undergoing construction. If you want digging or mining skills to work up you strength and mind logic then we currently have both. Asgard is a great place for you to come, skill, and help out with community projects. You must be able to tolerate lots of joking and horsing around in Alliance chat. Some adult content is used. You can build your own house and prepare your plot the way you like. If you don't log in at least once a week you will have your privileges limited and if you are gone for a month (without prior notification) then you will be removed as a villager. We want active players. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Asgard has to offer: § Our help with tools and weapons (to the best of our abilities). § Plot for you to design how you want. § Horses and Cattle (to borrow until you acquire your own). § Carts for you to borrow (until you make your own). § Mines off deed of varying types and qualities. § Wells on site. § Altars for all three Gods. § Coastal property. § 10 Guards to offer you maximum protection. § Rowboats for your travel needs. § Meals are provided if you like. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What Asgard will off in the Future: § Market at Alliance docks to sell your merchandise. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What we have to offer: § To be part of a community. § Friendship and Trust (open community). § Semi-relaxed environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What we expect from you: § Manners and respect. § Someone who gives as much as they take. § Willingness to learn. § Desire to help out and work as a team. § Ability to follow directions and listen to Asgard leaders. § Honesty (thievery will get you booted). § The ability to be on often. Arrangements can be made in advance for longer absences if you make arrangements with Asgard Elders. § Willingness to help out other villagers. § Villagers must be premium. § Must speak English. § Willingness to take part in community projects. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Asgard Rules § You are allowed to work on Asgard projects; if you can't then Asgard isn't for you. § You will not grief other players. § You will NOT steal, cheat or anything else that will cause harm to Asgard, its villagers or alliance members. § You will follow the guidance of the Mayor and Asgard leaders. § You will not mix low quality items with the high quality ones in the bulk storage containers. § Respect other members and be polite. Grievances will be held in pm’s, not Freedom chats. § You will not kill penned animals unless given specific permission. § If you want to practice your mining skills and you are low level you will mine in an off deed mine. § Trees must be replanted after cut. If you are interested in joining our village please contact myself, Harvest (by sending a message here) or send Lucard a p.m. in game. Please don't post here as I don't get notified and forget to check. Thank you.
  3. Hi there Prestine, I'm new to this game and don't have an idea where and how to start. I was travelling a bit, but was killed twice. I tried to build a ship but need nails and don't know hoe to build them or where to buy It's sort of hard to get into the Game in the very beginning. So if there's anyone who wants to help me out a bit, please let me know! Thank you, Raphiman EDIT: omg, I think I posted in the wrong forum, sorry!
  4. I just got my account today, and I really need some help! Whenever I launch Wurm, my screen is completely black while the music is playing.
  5. Hello all, I used to love to play Wurm a while back, and I would play it frequently on my laptop with no issues. Recently, I have decided to get back into the game, but I can barely even move due to lag (still playing on my laptop). What technical issues might be causing this, or is this just due to a general update of the game? I've already lowered all of my graphics settings to no avail. Please help! I love Wurm and am dying to play.
  6. I feel sorry for new players joining the game with the new farming system. I have a fairly new alt and it is discouraging to even think about having to rake, rake, rake and get 1 harvest. I think that skill levels below 20 should go back to the minimum of 2 harvest per tile. Sure leave it the same for the other skill levels, if you rake you get more, but don't penalize the new player so severely.
  7. The Friends of Exodus alliance is looking at offering a service to New players on Exodus. Where we will assist in repairing and imping your existing house, fences and gates. We have a number of skilled Carpenters who can improve your existing low ql structures to something that will last a bit longer, allowing you to concentrate on other aspects of the game, such as mining and growing your own food. We may be needed to be added to the writ or deed for a short period to do the required work (houses mainly, fences off deed do not require any changes). If this service would be of interest to you, please post your details below, Your in game name: Location (use the Exodus map and grid reference http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/85299-exodus-deed-map/ ): Service required: (repair/improvement, house/fences etc) Usual time of day you are logged in: Anything else you think may be relevant: If we find there is sufficient interest then we will organise a schedule to work through the people requesting assistance. Be aware - We will not build new structures for you, you need to have shown your own commitment to surviving and progressing in Wurm. Do not pm me, only players posting in this thread will be considered if we progress with this project.
  8. Hello, i just joined yesterday, I go by the name of Warzhogz, and i'm on the Chaos server, now everyone thinks that is bad why? I travelled far from where i spawned, and i lost my compass, i'm by Gold Coast if i'm right, where would you get boats? I saw on chat that halfway down the eastern shore on Chaos, that there's a cave full of stolen boats, do you know of that? Questions: Where to find cotton? my guy is hurt to the point that he won't heal Can i swim to other servers? The sun rises from the East right? that way i can use that as my guide
  9. Inner City Orphange (Independence Server) New Player Area to "Learn2Play" Wurm Online * We are still under construction but do have a few housing units now available for people to use * Inner City Orphange is intended to help new players ease into Wurm Online by providing public workshop/forge areas, open-access tree farms, public mining and "independent living" cottages for either short or long term. We are not a "village" and there are no social activities or projects beyond what you devise for yourself -- it's intended merely to be a safe area for you to learn on your own using the Wurmpedia Wiki at http://www.wurmpedia.com/ and asking questions of the server CA Help channel. We are located east of Freedom Market and less than five minutes from the new player spawn point. FREE COTTAGES are provided for short or long term living for new players. Each cottage is a sturdy 2x2 cabin with forge, bed, bsb and basic furnishings, and a small private yard for animals or farming. You can stay for a few days while you decide on your plans or find an organized village to join, a few weeks while you work on the skills and resources needed to embark on your own remote homestead, or as long as you like if you decide you enjoy the company of other new players. All housing writs are held by the orphange and "free form building" is not permitted in the area in order to ensure it stays prisitine and accessible for as many as possible. We do have a fewer larger cottages for groups of 4 or more, so let us know if you are interested in larger scaled housing for a group of family/friends. In addition to free player housing, we offer the following resources to new & returning players: The TREE FARM is intended to assure new players will always have access to basic lumber needs, and for learning Carpentry, Fine Carpentry, Bowery and Fletching -- we ask players to NOT clearcut trees for woodcutting skill grinding, and to ONLY cut trees that are Old, Very Old, or Aged. We do accept donations of spouts or tree-planting for anyone who makes to make sure this central-area resource stays supplied for new players! The local PUBLIC MINES now have 5-8 iron veins going and can help players who want to learn Blacksmithing, Weaponsmithing and Armorsmithing, Thanks muchly to Ericbomb, Aelfred, Chaplain & others for expanding the mines!! The Orphanage Workshop has a public access forge. oven and loom. We have some donated items like pelts and whetstones, and are almost finished completing a First Aid Station with some basic first aid items (rags and healing cover ingredients) and a Soup Kitchen with some basic cooking resources (fishing poles and pottery bowls, for making fish stew/gulasch). We now also have a Community Farm for residents of the orphanage who want to skill up in Farming, Animal Husbandry, Milking & Cheesemaking.. We mostly grow Pumpkins and Cotton that the residents can use for Cooking and First Aid. Cotton and leather can also be used by residents wanting to lean Tailoring. Down the road we hope to let "orphans" sell calves and piglets direct to the community to earn ingame coin for their first premium sub. We are trying to work on a coastal Shipbuilding Facility so that new players can build their first rowboat, but this is strill only in planning phases. * FINISHED! We are now set up to help new players who want to make their own rowboat or sailboat for exploring the game by water. Just started a new combat training facility where we soon will provide a variety of low-quality armors and weapons for players to practice with, plus some combat dummies to work on their fighting skill. May try later to add some "supervised" hunting outings. There is two local guard tower as well as a deed spirit templar in the area to make sure new players are relatively safe from roving mobs. (It's never 100% safe, but far safer than most wilderness areas. If the worst scenario happens and you die, its a very quick run back from the starter spawn, and people who can help you recover your corpse and belongings. There are a few rules: Due to limited supply, cottages are currently reserved for "active players" so if you only play a days per month, these are not the option for you. This may change later if we add some "shared housing" options where you share a single house with a couple of assigned roommates. If you do not log in for a week or more, your spot may be re-assigned to another new player who will use it more, and your storage cart will be moved to a secured area where you can reclaim your possessions any time. You are always welcome back again and reassigned to a new cottage. but please let us know if you expect to be gone for any extended time, so that others can use the housing! You need to first make a large cart with a lock for your secured storage. There are trees here you can cut for the lumber, and if needed we can help provide pelts, whetstones, nails and padlocks. You are required to be COURTEOUS to fellow players -- any incidents of thievery, griefing, harassment or intentionally annoying others will result in being removed from the cottage writs. Management reserves the right to define "discourteous behavior" (which includes constant complaints and criticism of the game if it makes playtime less enjoyable for your neighbors). No terraforming or building permanent fences or structures in the perimeter area. You can mine and cut trees as long as you follow reasonable respect for the area -- cut only old, very old and aged trees, and do not randomly mine the floors etc of the mine. In order to ensure everyone can enjoy the resources, you cannot sell resource-intensive "bulk resources" from the area (logs, planks, iron, stone shards) but are welcomed & encouraged to start your own business for labor-intensive finished materials such as tools, armor & weapons, carts, etc. Cottages are meant to be a PRIMARY RESIDENCE, not as a secondary "market area bases" for established characters. You need to PM me an application on the forum for one of the cottages -- just tell me a little about yourself, how you discovered Wurm, how long you have been playing, any plans you have started making etc. There is no requirement to stay for any set period -- if you find someplace else you'd rather be a few hours or days later, that's great! Just let us know if you stop using a cottage, so we can re-assign it to someone else. If you are assigned a cottage, your name will be the only one on the writ (besides mine). Cottages are locked by default to all but the writ-holder, unless you specially request yours be open to anyone. However, if you stop playing or have your hosuing revoked, we are not responsible for items left behind in cottages. For that reason we ask you to have a secured large cart and use it for longtime storage of items you want to keep if you will be gone for more than a week at a time. We will be moving abandoned carts to a cart-corral where owners can reclaim them if they lose their housing priveleges. We are not responsible for items left in cabins if you are gone more than a week without prior arrangement with management. TO APPLY. YOU NEED TO SEND ME A FORUM PM (SEE ABOVE) HOW TO FIND US: From the Howl, run up the hill all the way to the large Freedom market at the tope, turn right (EAST) and then down the hill until you see the "Orphange" building on the left, red houseing on the right. We are on the old location of Point Double Rainbow if you are using older maps: HOW CAN I HELP? If you want to help, we could use a few miners to locate and make accessible new iron veins in the local mine . Or you can donate "raw resources" that might help new players such as extra pelts, whetstones, discarded newbie tools, first aid supplies (rags and heal cover ingredients such as animal guts) etc. At some point we will have a "Soup Kitchen" built, and any chefs are welcomed to come make up a batch of meals for any hungry new players in the greater Howl/FM area We will have drop-off bins for donations or you can give them to us to pass out directly if you want to ensure the items go to those most in need. At some stage we might also organize "armed escort caravans" of wagons for new players who want veteran fighters to escort them while exploring more remote areas of the map where they could settle their own solo homesteads. We hope to find areas an hour or more from the "central zone" that are welcoming areas for new settlers (without disturbing estabkished residents), so if you have any suggestions to make, please let us know! It is also fine for established villages to send "recruiters" into the area in case they can find new players who might enjoy more being part of an organized village -- we are all about helping new players find a longterm home, and that just might be with YOUR village! CONTACT: I prefer to be contacted on the forum but you can also reach me ingame sometimes under the names Neome, Brash or Brashe. ____________________________________________________________________
  10. Mornin' all I've been playing the game for about a week now with a few friends and have come up with a list of questions that I can't seem to find on the Wiki, so here you go: Tasting Water? All the water I taste is "Fresh"? I was wondering if my water source could be contaminated? If so how does this happen? Or is this one of those features that has yet to be worked out? Currency: I'm not going to lie, my friends and I are really in the middle of nowhere on our server and we make everything from scratch. As a premium player, I've been awarded 2 silver coins - what can you do with silver coins that you can't do with base materials? Or is it just a way to quickly buy equipment that is high quality and you wouldn't normally be able to craft with current skills? Combat: I haven't died yet, but the first death we experienced was last night and we're literally surrounded by aged trolls most of the time. What's your advice on how high our weapon skills/qualities/fighting should be before feeling able to engage in combat with the local menace? (Also are there any plans to add fighting animations soon?)] Creature: Obviously we mostly have trolls but we've had spiders, rats and hell hounds chase us down to the local guard tower. Is there any pattern to when or what will spawn? Death: is there any way we can minimise the impact? Township: When is it worthwhile establishing a township as obviously there is a RL cost involved? I think that's about it for now. Don't all rush to answer at once
  11. Hi, Faeran and I are back on Deliverance after a long holiday at the impalong. In our latest episode we are back at it, continuing where we left off, however, we have been presented with a new goal and a lofty one at that. To construct the Factional Fight village. For this we need dirt, and a lot of it. Together, we discuss many tips and tricks for the newbie player and it turns out we have a lot to say. Watch it at www.serversaredown.com We hope you enjoy! Griphyth
  12. Hi, I just started playing Wurm today and I'm looking for a village to become part of. I like to build and craft things and perhaps in the future, take to the open seas once I learn to fish. :-)
  13. Hello. I'm back to Wurm after about 2 years without playing: The first time I tried it I didn't like it too much (Was a bit buggy I think) and I didn't play too much, but I read about the 1.0 version and I'm back here, I also got some friends to play with me. When I had to choose server, I chose the (PvE) with more players at the time: that was Pristine. However I'm not sure if I made a good choice, I've not played too much in this server, just 2h or so: I've been walking trying to find some nice place to build a house but everything is full of villages. I asked in the IRC and they told me the server is quite new and the map is somewhat small: I searched in the Wiki and there is no info for Pristine, and the only map I could find is very basic, so I assume it's really new. So my question is... Is this a good server to start it? Or do you suggest other one? Thanks.
  14. Here are some improvements to the newbie tools and for their first days of living in the wurm. Compass - Who is more lost than a new guy who recently joined wurm? And where is his compass after he first gets killed by a mountain lion or any other animal? Nowhere. The compass should be an non drop starter tool like other starter tools. Even an 1ql compass is better than no compass at all. I could wait 10 minutes standing still if i only had any clue where i am! Sickle - Why are the newbies hated the most? Because they cut down the trees around the starter town and never replant. Why? Not because they dont know how to use a sickle. They dont have it and its really hard to make! Iron - What do they want the most after they join the game? After they cut their first tree? Iron. The starter town, in every server, should have some kind of access to a iron vein for all. Any quality. Is it too hard for Rolf to cheat the game so much that the starter towns would have 10ql iron veins for all that wouldnt ever run out? Roads - After you leave the starter town where should you go? To that ---> direction and never come back? What about if you die there? You start over and never figure out where you was. The server should have long roads in to the wilderness and further. So your second house could be in somewhere in between.... Those are the most important things for me. Would have been when i started. I can now kill the spiders and bears but how many newer people than me can when they take their first steps in the lands of wurm?

  18. Now, I'm sure this has been asked time and time again, and there are probably multiple threads about the topic... but I apparently suck at searching, and can't find any. So, here's another one. Apologies. How does one move across the different servers? I know there are Epic Portals to go from Freedom to Epic (and vice versa). I also know that Freedom and Epic are "alternate dimensions" of sorts, each governed by their own "laws or reality", and that upon first using said portals, the alternate-you starts back from zero. I guess before I go further with all this, I should start by asking: are there only two servers, Freedom and Epic? Or does each map in both cluster count as a server of its own? I'm presently on Deliverance, and have no particular interest in the Epic cluster, but I guess the following questions apply to Epic as well, in case someone sees this thread and is wondering what I've been wondering, though in regards to Epic. How does one move about within a cluster? I know one can use boats. And I know that in some cases, one can even swim (Inde/Deli... can you swim elsewhere?). Are there other ways? Intra-Cluster portals? Are boats the only way...? Which brings me to (from the Wurm Wiki's article on Ships): Is this information accurate, or does the wiki need updating? I've heard of people getting lifts... how does this work? I was under the impression that each "map" within a cluster was a server in itself, and thus I take the above to mean that you can't, say, sail from Deli to Exo with someone on your boat. If I was to travel with a friend, we would each need our own boat? It could mean, I guess, the border between clusters... but I thought the clusters were wholly separate, with no way of bringing a character from one to the other, so that doesn't make sense either. I'm rambling and not making much sense... TL;DR If my friend and I are in Deli and want to go visit Exo and Cele to hunt for a nice little corner of land to settle, what's the best/most efficient way of doing this, as relatively new players? (we're both Premium, and I have enough Mind Logic to command up to a Corbita, for whatever that's worth) Thanks in advance for your help!
