  4. Hey everyone, this merchant business is a fairly simple idea. I've made this business in the past, and had some success with it so I figured, what the heck, let's do it again! Anyhow, I'm an avid Deedplanner user, and I enjoy creating building designs and village designs using the wonderful program created by @Warlander. If you have a building or village you'd like planned out for you, I'd be the guy to do it. The pricing is pretty simple: a small village design costs 1s, a medium design costs 2s, and a large design costs 3s. A small village, for example, may have dimensions of 15x15, whereas a large village would have something like 50x50 and upward. Prices can be negotiated, so don't be afraid to ask! Leave a comment or pm me if you're interested and we'll discuss the details! Also, if you would, please take a moment to fill out the very small questionnaire below to give me more information about what you want from your design. Thanks. Update 1: I've added a design to the portfolio of the work I've done. Unfortunately I lost a lot of my old designs when my laptop pooped out. I'll add more as I do them. Update 2: A small table was added to clarify the dimension sizes and corresponding prices. Update 3: Added a small questionnaire to further outline the basic information I'll need to create your design. Portfolio Village Size Range Price Small 11x11 - 25x25 (121 - 625 tiles) 1s Medium 26x26 - 45x45 (676 - 2025 tiles) 2s Large 46x46 - ??? (2116 - ??? tiles) 3s Information I Need: What is your desired time frame of completion for the design? What theme or style do you have in mind, if any? What wall types are acceptable for the buildings? Do you want your deed to represent any deities? Can you export your current deed design (if you have one) so I have a baseline to work with?
  5. I would like to see an additional option added to buildings. Store mode. A completed building, walls, floors, and roof could be set to "store mode" when a merchant is placed inside. When in Store Mode all items placed inside of the building that is now a store, are listed for sale on the merchant. Each item dropped in the store is listed individually with exception to items left in crates, BSB's and FSB's. You could set a price for each item, and more specifically each "stack of items" in a crate, bsb or fsb could then be listed for a "per unit" cost. This would take some work, but would finally allow people in wurm to actually conduct some trade. Why can't I sell arrows, crops or any other resource material without having to place it on a merchant 1 at a time? At one point and time I wanted to be a fuel merchant, selling peat, but that's IMPOSSIBLE. The merchant system was passable 8+ years ago but can anyone tell me any changes merchants have had over the years? Sorry, last min addition to this. Would it also be possible to add "renting" to a structure. This way people can host market deeds and actually pay for them?
  6. After reading another recent topic on merchants, this idea gradually emerged in my mind: How about fundamentally changing merchants so that instead of putting items for sale on the merchant itself, we let a player link his merchant to a house designated by the player as a "warehouse" and allow the merchant to sell any items in that house actively pricetagged by the player. The link could created simply by putting the merchant inside a house or in a way that would allow the merchant to stand right outside the "warehouse". By putting items for sale in a warehouse like this, we wouldn't need a limit on items per merchant and we could have full containers, wagons, boats, horses, you name it, for sale through the merchant. We could be able to browse the contents of all containers for sale through the merchant, but buy individual items from unlocked containers only (so for example we could sell only whole sets of armor). When buying large items they would be magically taken from the warehouse and dropped at the buyers feet. Additionally I would love to have all merchants networked serverwide, so that from each merchant we could browse what's for sale through every single other merchant on the same server. I don't like the idea of having any of those items magically transported to the buyer though. Just this. Through the network we would get the name of each merchant and its owner and would have to find it just from this information. Maybe merchants should be sorted by distance so that local merchants would be listed first. Also I would love to be able to put buy orders on my merchant "buy 12 bsb's full of minimum 35 ql stone bricks for max 95 copper each" or "a barrel of 45 ql wine for max 1.30 silver" or "a full set of appropriately enchanted golden chainarmor" and have these browsable through the network. Whatever the merchant buys would be dropped and stored in the warehouse linked to it.

  8. Merchant Exporter

I made a little Node.js script that exports all merchants and their inventory to a JSON file. It can be used to display merchants inventories on a webpage, or in an external application. If you want, give it a go and let me know what you think! Suggestions are welcome. The script: https://github.com/woubuc/wu-merchant-exporter (see the Readme for information on how to use it) Example output from my local test server: https://gist.github.com/woubuc/33a2a5d5bcec8ce078a7 If there are any bugs, feel free to create an issue or submit a PR. Note: I have only tested this with a couple of merchants on a local creative test server. I don't know how resource-hungry the script will be when used on a busy server, so be careful.
  9. Ever have that time when you're looking in your coffin, trying to find that specific tool and wishing there was a way you could just type in what you're looking for, and it would narrow it down to that tool? Well, I think it's time to add a Search feature. Especially for merchants, when you, say, are trying to find a sickle and you don't want to look through the entire list. Type "sickle" and it would only show sickles. Though I'm sure this has been asked before, but no one's really mentioned it. So this is why I'm making this thread. Let me know what you think. Would it be too easy with this? Or would it be a good idea? I wanna hear your opinions (as long as they're constructive).
  10. Folk would spend more. It'd be great for the economy. I've seen some very cool merchant setups, which the game isn't ready for because first the customer has to find a Token to get money out of their bank.
  11. My suggestion is that there should be innkeepers and bartenders in inns and pubs, to make the world more alive. Merchants right now are too expensive to be used as dwellers of the land, to achieve a more lively feel in pubs, inns, towns, etc. I think that there should be 3-4 types of them, they could be cheaper than merchants and that they could be packed like merchants, but only with cheap items, and they could only take 5-10 items of a kind (they could take several types). They could sell items like wine, meals, cakes, water, cutlery and so on. I know that this could be used to preserve edibles, but they could be made, so the items in them take damage, only slowly. With this addition visiting pubs and inns would be good, beacuse you could buy items and not just sleep. This way these places could be more interesting.
  12. Request to be able to set price on hand mirror, so that I can sell it on my merchant at a decent price. Currently the hand mirror is default to 1 iron, and it won't let me raise the price.
  13. Hi, can we add the ability to right-click "sell" to a merchant while mounted? Currently when I try to sell while mounted I get. [15:54:46] You need to be on solid ground to do that. [15:54:51] You leave the old fat Dancehop. [15:54:56] You receive 11 irons. Your bank account will be updated shortly. Is there currently a reason why we cannot sell while mounted?
  14. Due my inactivity in game, I am not able to send items by mail , so I put them on my merchant in Green Dog Market on Deliverance. Here is a picture of items I have to offer:

  16. Hello, I am looking for an enchanter looking to make some money. I have a merchant in Glasshollow where I'm selling a few things. I'd like to make a partnership with someone that is willing to cast woa/coc on some tools I am making. I'm wanting them to be 15-25ql with random enchants. I don't expect the enchanter to cast until every tool has a high cast, I just want random enchants 20+. Some for woa, and some for coc. Maybe some tools can have both but it's not required. Many people sell high quality items with high quality enchants, but not everyone wants to fork out the coin for those types of items. On many occasions I have spent 20-75 copper on low ql tools with low ql enchants because the price was right, and every little coc bit helps. It's not a strategy that is often utilized for merchants because they will need to be restocked more items--but I don't care--I'm here to make a profit. I can make cordage ropes using my own wemp for the enchanter to use for casts. I can't guarantee any specific rope quality but hey--it's free rope for you. I'd happily deliver the tools provided that you can enchant them within a day or two. We can work out a time to meet before I leave, so you can do it when it's convenient for you, and I won't randomly show up to dump a bunch of items. From there I'll take and put them on my merchant to sell for a low price (depending on item and quality). These tools sell faster than top dollar tools, and we can split everything 60:40. The main reason for me wanting 60% is that I'm using my wemp for ropes and doing all the transporting. All I need the enchanter to do is enchant.
  17. In their current state, merchants are somewhat useless at actually selling stuff and mostly used to store things on deed. My suggestion is a complete overhaul of the merchant mechanics. Instead of just being a local NPC you have to be in range to trade, I suggest making them something you would plant on your personal deed and have sole ability to use. When you use your merchant, you can put items on them in a similar fashion but can also use a search feature to find items on other player's merchants across the server. If you wanted to purchase an item, your merchant would be temporary out of service as they travel to the over merchant to pick up the item and bring it back. The transaction fee paid to the merchant could be a flat fee similar to CoD or a % of the item price like how merchants currently are. This would a much more useful application of merchants and help reduce a lot of forum traffic for selling and buying.
  18. I would like to see more types of these Shop Signs. Would be extra nice if we had a sign for each skill category. Carpenter, Smith, Alchemist, Bow/Fletcher, Cook, The animal trainer/farmer guy... Then, with each sign, attach a looping sound pertaining to the title that can be controlled from the sign options.

  20. Welcome to the Misty Rock self-serve horse market! After the big animal update, it took us some time to get organized with the new trait system, but I'm happy to say that we're back in business! Current listing of available horses, their colors, names and prices here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10M4hvqUTczx8uDo-DTmPLrGctQ5B1Qi3AJfl5_LvpQE/ Horses are available within locked pens and can be picked up at any time. Merchants sell the keys to these pens. No appointments necessary. Come on over whenever it suits your fancy and shop at leisure. Ebony black horses have a special hidden "extra speed" trait Horses will be between the ages of “young” - “mature”. Once they reach the “aged” stage I will remove them from the market and retire them to pasture. Please note that prices may change depending on the market I do not do home deliveries at this time If you have a creature cage and ship, you can sail over from other servers and use the small dock at the front to load and unload. If you run into troubles, contact me through the game (Malena), here in the forums or else through Discord (KatsPurr#8213) How to get there We're on the South West corner of the Xanadu server, located at coordinates T12. The horse market is on the south east corner of the island. Layout of Horse colors Horses are divided into three sections, each with their own merchant marked by the colored dot that sells keys to the stalls. There is also a fourth merchant selling horse and stable supplies. I sell all colors except grey. There are three merchants under archways selling keys to horses. In addition, there is one merchant in the center selling horse and stable supplies. How did it all begin with the new horse colors?
