  1. Correction: After mixing many more batches of concrete I realized that I made an error by using the total amount of lye used in my calculations. Since concrete is made using 1.5 lye per action, the maximum amount of concrete which can be made from a small barrel of lye is 30. I've changed the percentage amounts to reflect this fact. Substituting a maximum total of 30 concrete per small barrel now indicates that the success rate is higher (at least in this instance) than the Chance percentage listed in the crafting window. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. I spent the day today making concrete from 900 ash. The amount of concrete I was able to craft does not agree with the Chance percentage listed in the crafting window. This leads me to believe that either the Chance percentage listed in the crafting window is calculated incorrectly, or the mechanic for determining the success rate of crafting actions is not accurate. While my findings pertains only to crafting concrete, I have a suspicion that all crafting actions may have a similar issue. My Natural Substances skill was 49.97 when I started, and 51.29 when I finished. I created batches of lye in small barrels using 45 ash per 45kg water for a total of 20 batches, as well as 2 smaller batches of leftover lye. The Chance percentage listed was 80% for the first batch, and 81% for all the rest. Here are my results: 1 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 12 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 2 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 13 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 3 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 14 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 4 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 15 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 5 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 16 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 6 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 17 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 7 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 18 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 8 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 19 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 9 11 lye 7 concrete 95.4% 20 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 10 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 21 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 11 45 lye 29 concrete 96.7% 22 9.75 lye 6 concrete 92.3% Total: 592 concrete 96.4% (592/613.83) If I understand the purpose of the Chance percentage in the crafting window (which is highly unlikely), it is an approximation of the expected crafting results based on a character's skill level modified by material quality. I would expect that the Chance percentage is not a random chance approximation, but rather a measure of proficiency. Based on the Chance percentage I was given I would expect to see an average of 80 successes out of 100 crafting actions (or 36 concrete per small barrel of lye) with a variation in the results, perhaps ranging from +-5% to +-10%. The results I achieved clearly do not correspond to the Chance percentage, and they are also too consistent to correspond to a random chance calculation (which would actually be a poor way of calculating crafting success). Based on all of the nonsense I just spouted, I think either the Chance percentage needs to be recalculated to show the actual chance of success per crafting action, or the mechanic used to determine successful actions needs to be modified to produce successful crafting actions more in line with the displayed Chance percentage. 11. In an effort for rare items to have more use than eating (sacrifice in an altar), rare concrete used to raise the rock surface layer or cave floors could raise the slope by 2 instead of 1. Supreme and fantastic could raise it by 4 and 8 respectively. I think the rarity would warrant such.

  14. It is done all the time in real life, why not allow it here? Think of the sweet stone causways and piers we could make, even though we would go insane making concrete. Also would be invaluable for fixing tunnel opening mistakes, when you accidentally mine the bottom edge to 1 below the water. Even if we have to make a "concrete forms", to further increase the complexity of water construction... anything, just so long as we can do this. Thank you.
  15. to start off, i am NOT buying it TODAY! i am looking for a few K of concrete. i live in the SE section of xanadu @ n / m 23 / 24 plz reply here or in pm about price and how long u think it will take once i place an actual order. btw my guess is 1-5k concrete btw, def start with 1k at least ingame: Nexangelus

  17. In one of last patches bug with concrete use thru dirt was fixed. As far as i know devs started to look into that only when it was used at WL and affected pvp somehow. But that was the only possibility to shape rock bed that's deep underwater or on slope more than 26. I understand that it was bug but why when fixing it devs doesn't give us possibility to make such things legally ? There was suggestions on forum about that (http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/89260-formwork-for-concrete/?hl=%2Bconcrete+%2Bframework) but devs think more about pvp than all others and just prevented abuse of bug (that was the only solution for some cases). Some of players will just say "who cares ?" but for me this means messed project on which i've spended 2 years. I've started to play this game only because you can play it without any form of pvp and it won't limit you in any way. But all last changes was pvp oriented and all pve players was like discarded when decision about changing something happens.
  18. Hello im looking to buy some cheap concrete if that is even possible. Im willing to pay 50c per 100 concrete. I know its below market asking price but I need a lot and on a budget. Any ql will work
  19. Concrete was implemented into the game a while ago. It was supposed to help aid those that wanted to fix mine floors, that had either been: *Damaged by the horrible implementation of when devs allowed critters to mine. *Damaged by newbies/griefers The addition of the concrete feature also gave players new flexibility in design, both in the under world and the surface world. The problem is, concrete is too hard to make. It's very time consuming, as you need to gather a slew of materials to attempt to make it. Also, MANY skills are required to gather this stuff: ash comes from firemaking, lye from alchemy, clay and sand from digging, and mortar from masonry. Once you manage to gather said materials, the materials need to be very high quality to get a decent chance to make. Even with my nat sub in the mid 30's, my creation % is quite low (62, I believe) using 35-40ql lye and 70-80ql mortar. At 62% chance, I fail a lot at creating concrete. If a player with my skill set has such a hard time creating this stuff, how hard is it for a newer player to do so? If concrete was made easier to create, we would see: *Public mine floors repaired. No more 100+ sloped spikes in starter area mines. *More creativity in building and design *Surface mining could be tweaked and played with a bit, because concrete (the fix) is easily available. Thoughts?
  20. ... Until I run out of mortar. 1c per, or 90c for 100 (discount applying past 100, for instance, 125 would be 1s 13c) Coastal pickup is at Gurrington on Celebration. located at X20 Y18 on this map. Delivery is negotiable, PM me with offer, details! Current Stock: 140
  21. We need some kind of formwork in game for passing limitations on concrete use. Like 2 logs+20 planks+5 large nails+5 kg of tar. It will be placed like fence and prevent concrete from "flowing down". If it looks too easy for such great benefits dependency from formwork's quality can be added (like you can raise corner for 3 slopes per 1 formwork quality) or from masonry skill (same 3 slopes per 1 skill). Also important is the ability of building such framework below water level (maybe give limitation for 25-30 depth) it will give us possibility to make cave canal entrances (at price of long work making enough concrete) in any place and not just search for place where rock goes into water body at steep enough slope. Present state of the game doesn't allow doing so because we can't surface mine deep enough so any ships can pass and we can't terraform rock tiles in such ways that it will be good cave canal exit. All numbers in this suggestion given just for example and can be altered.

  23. using concrete to raise rock is bugged, it only allows u to raise when all tile borders meeting the corner u try to raise are below a certain slope number, the thing is it say's the dirt will flow away even when the slopes are steep towards the point where u drop it. basically it doesn't know which way the slopes are pointed like drop dirt does.
