  1. I only ever see like, 2 people not in the tutorial on GV. You forumers are blowing this way out of proportion. Talking yourselves into a hissy for no reason with even less facts.
  2. This ignores that Wurms combat system is the issue.
  3. EDIT: Sounds like a fine idea, the title just reminded me of something is all
  4. Yes yes, but its a massive revamp. But its mostly planed.
  5. That's that "Utility" word I keep tossing around
  6. Indeed. I just simply do not subscribe to long timers, or more clicks, or complication for the sake of complication as "Depth".
  7. Problem is, to many time tedium is confused with complexity. You can have depth, without tedium and still have broad elements.
  8. I personally always push for expanding horizontally, rather then continually going vertically. Part of the reason things take so long in wurm, IS because there really isn't that much to do. If you expand the base of the game, and include more options in utility and even looks, you can reduce the time it takes to do things ( A major complaint ), because there would be more of it.
  9. They have freedom for that :
  10. Or, we address the problem correctly. ;D
  11. Because I assume his install is not right. Hence directions to clear his java cache and reinstall. I suspect if this was an issue on our end, we would have many more reports about it. So, Standard stuff. Check java, clear cache, maybe re-download the packs, check your security settings.
  12. http://wurmonline.com/forum/index.php?topic=56646.0 Also make sure you are using the link on the website, and not one you have saved locally.
  13. ;D I use event as announcements, event info, PSA's, Feedback requests and the occasional joke. Its all in the course of my duties. Most enjoy my shenanigans and info. None of it is "abuse of powers" as you guys like to claim. Wild is one area that does not get events, if you dislike server events that server is free of them. I am indeed, a little teapot! 8) Speaking of, if anyone has a event they would like me to support, feel free to PM me and ill see if I can lend a hand.
  14. No, just ask. It has been rather clear we are working on customization.
  15. Yeah, i have been spending way to much time flinging Kerbals into space recently. Me and Torgen have been swapping stories all week.
  16. You're silly if you think that. One predefined model is the same as any other predefined model. So, we might as well just make everything cubes or something? All the player models? Sure. We might be able to say it's artistic and get off on that note. Like I said, a predefined model is a predefined model. Players aren't going to suddenly flock to Wurm when they learn that, while you still can't customize the way you look, you do have a character with a higher rez texture. Character customization will bring in new players- anything else is just a substitute. Who said you can't customize your look? "With a higher rez texture", thats not even close to all the work going into this. I'm also going to let you in on a small secret, its actually a smaller texture size and LESS polygons than the current. The head/face textures, those are the SAME size as the current, simply used better on most fronts.
  17. We're not lacking in the creative department, we just like to see the steps along the way. Instant gratification is like coming before you've even had sex. Nothing in Minecraft takes any real time or effort, it's an endless stock of Lego you can't hurt your feet on. You are very wrong.
  18. We are using a open format and an open loading system, however we use a custom engine so most still has to be done for the custom solution, we also have to design how they system will work for our needs, from assets to server to client. There is no one stop shop.
  19. Technically Priests and Champs are alpha classes. alpha classes: Some good examples are Death Knights in World of Warcraft (available after bringing a different character to level 55 or higher), Jedi Knights in pre-NGE Star Wars Galaxies (available after completing 16+ professions), or Peacebringers/Warshades in City of Heroes (available after bringing a character to level 20). In theory, once you unlock an alpha class, you need to opt-in to that toon, they are not normally your current player and always start at a higher advancement then regular toons, this is at a cost in games with PvP, the exchange in power has to be offset by downsides, normally, restrictions in activities. Most are designed for one subset of game play. Wurm has the unique distinction of using your current toon as your alpha class, this is a flaw in most designs. They are also highly contentious design addition, and are never truly seen as balanced ( The design is based on them being overpowered in one or two areas of game play ). They tend to never be good from a game play perspective or a community one. EDIT: Decided to expand, not sure how many know what is meant by alpha class.
  20. There is no either/or when dealing with a custom engine. There are no silver bullets to game development.
  21. You guys are jumping to conclusions as to what I mean by core. Emoo is the closest. Wurm no longer has the ability to rest on its "unique" status, as it is no longer unique. The area Wurm operates in is getting some stiff competition. Its PvP game is also highly lacking compared to the alternatives out there. The core combat is the main reason, its unfinished, and a slapdash of rule sets and antiquity.
