Yes, I remember him saying that. I've heard people say wurm's low fps also comes from the way the renderer is implemented, but I don't know anything about that.

I vaguely remember wurm having a client which allowed you to select alternative graphics from the launcher back in like 2004.

Honestly, I like the effort, but I've always liked the beta models best. I also think this is not the place that needs optimizations the most. The game doesn't use the maximum power of the GPU if I recall correctly, and since my CPU is a pile of crap, I haven't noticed a single bit of change in FPS, I'm still at 5-6 fps even though I got a graphics card that can easily do 50+. I think it'd be nice if they'd finally include windows 64 bits libraries to the client, so it's actually useful running 64 bits java with the game.
