  1. Hahah, ignore me. I'm so rusty I didn't realise I was carrying 130 in weight with 23.3 strength. I resolved that by dying and losing everything, including my silver. Now I'm moving much faster.
  2. Hi folks, Came back last night, logged on for the first time since 2011 but haven't played since 2009. Is there any talk at all about increasing the default movement speed? Ignoring horses, I'm just talking about the default speed. I loved Wurm, I would love to properly come back - my inv from 2009 is still rammed full of good stuff, but I just cannot spare the time from a busy life on a game that's going to make me walk slower than a child's pace. Any news or chat on this subject at all?

I've cleared my Java, installed the 64bit and forced it to open Wurm in 64 bit using the link to Javaws.exe and http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp as a shortcut which all works fine.   7. Ha, actually, you reminded me, so I checked my inbox and I had a PM with a GM discussing exactly that in 2011, and the password they assigned then is still the password for now. Now if only it'd load rather than keep dropping out halfway through loading the map.

  9. Hi folks, Decided to try and come back after being away for a good few years. Hopefully can remember my account details or access them, but wow, what's with all the servers?? I don't even remember what I played on before, apart from the fact it was a big map that had a huge canal dug through it by players to connect two rivers? I was part of the...uhm... Roadside? Restful? Something village? We were trying to make a massive highway but ended up the village fell into ruins after various people took ownership of land along the route blocking our efforts. So, which map to join? I'm so confused by the choice. Why so many maps as well?
  10. That's a very kind offer Felthanne. It was a bit of a shock to log back in and see all those houses I'd built still there, or at least, the core buildings anyway. When I left Roadside after everyone went their separate ways after the Road Saga, there must've been at least 18 individual houses for village members that I shed tears over building myself! I wont be back in game for a while, just recce'ing it now to see what lies ahead. I will be sure to take you up on that offer once I rock back on though Felthanne and hopefully my friend will join me. Just one final question; I see the free player skills are still capped at 20. So if I had higher skill when I was a Prem will I revert back to that level if I play for free for a bit to get back into it and then prem again? Thanks!

I notice the Freedom map is now rammed full of settlements but what's the actual player count like? Is the community still as good as before? I remember lots of helpful, friendly people that had time for others. Looking at coming back with a friend, just wanted to get a heads up. I'm also correct in saying my friend can start on GV and come to Freedom on a free account, yes? Thanks for your time!

  13. : Yeeees....... I would've hoped that people would've realised it was put across with Danars statement in mind. These people don't enjoy their lives, as it's constant, hard grind (So the game is still fairly accurate!), and for what they spend the entire day doing to survive, we do it to escape and relax. It's more, actually, the fact that Wurm is such a close mirror of it, and so accurately portrayed. It's either been very, very well researched during its initial concept period, or very lucky that it runs so parallel to life today for some. When you see that someone has dug a massive sink hole to get water, you might think; "You'd never really do that." Well, turns out, you would. You might get involved in shifting tons of dirt and flattening down a cliff face to make a path. "Bit unrealistic." Not really. I've seen just such things in the faces of the cliffs and hills that lead to old British & Russian forts, or heading up from the river to a village on top of a steep hillside. For me, Wurm will always be a poignant reminder whenever I play it once I get back in late April ( ) that whilst I slouch at my desk, clicking time and time again on a field tile to harvest the crop, that some Afghan guy is doing the exact same thing for real, and having a lot less fun. (Not that I'm having -that- much fun myself!) Just an observation.
  14. *Shrugs* I've seen this before in loads of MMO's. The solution? One server, for everyone. These games kill themselves by making more servers and splitting the playerbase further and further apart. Neocron did it, where it had five I believe, servers at one point. Mainly for different languages, but the populations were tiny! So one server for everyone. Then the only problem you have to worry about, is the PvP aspect of the game. So do you have an option you click (I think SW did this) where you can go offensive and be open to PvP? Say it lasts a week before you can go Passive again. So you can't just clicky clicky on and off. Noobs could, for example, be in a fenced off area, with limited abilities and skills as they are just now, and you can't get out of this large, secured area, but you can see the world beyond it. A nice incentive to go Prem. You can even chat to Prem players that pass by. I think everyone needs to accept, massively, that Wurm, although it is a good game, is not a great game and cannot survive over multiple servers. It's a niche game, which is why I love it. Many people however, do not. So make it one server, so we have busy villages, road systems and transport networks, communities and towns that are active, and lets then address the much smaller problem of PvP. Because if we don't solve the population and activity problem first, we wont have to worry about PvP, they'll be no-one left to fight.
