I agree to a point, the problem is you start out too low, I'd be willing to bet that most of those who last only a few hours do so because they cannot do anything. For instance, one of the first things you need to do is build your first 1x1 so that you can store your stuff securely, but to do so you have to continually fail and fail and fail to the point where people simply give up in frustration. I was lucky, I was given a house by a villager whilst I skilled up. Most of you folks have been playing this game so long you forget what it is like as a newbie. To me, the key is retaining more newbies by getting them the basics earlier, then more will end up going premium thus allowing more being reinvested in new features etc.

Thanks folks I have found somewhere way up north, it has what i need for now, I will need some hefty terraforming once I have the base down and functioning, but I am already enjoying my sea view

I want to start a new village in Freedom, and ideally I want it to be on the coast somewhere but everywhere I have looked the coastal plot have been taken long ago, or taken then abandoned, and I don't want to take something someone else has started, I want to do my own from scratch. Can anyone recommend a spot that is worth investigating? I have a boat lent to me by a friend, so I can travel most places. thanks

Mystecore, please can you change "Aldreth" to "Northlands Wood", I was presented with the opportunity to take over Aldreth and I have just done so, I will keep Solville for now, but it is now off-deed. I am still looking for folks to share this with me, but the space is quite a bit nicer now!

Thanks for updating the map, that is Awesome! , didn't know you could do that !!! I'll put some better pictures up later on, My deed has ample room for one or two more villagers, and could be expanded if needed
