  1. Okay. Will the experimental pack work with Wurm 1, or no? Also do you happen to have a link to said experimental pack? The one here is not working.
  2. The Facebook page said that Wurm 1 was actually out now. Is it or is it not? I can't find confirmation.
  3. Priests should have a lot of the restrictions placed upon them removed and replaced with something else. Perhaps instead of not being able to do the item, they have a (slightly) reduced aptitude for it and gain skill slower, or take a (very small) hit to the success chance. This does not include lockpicking, archery, and bashing. Priests should be able to do this. If your god/goddess wants you to go to battle against your foes they shouldn't look down at you using a bow and arrow to kill enemies and go "Woah woah, wait now hold on, you can't use THAT what's wrong with you?? Put that away at once!"
  4. Only if it's real life 'races' like black, hispanic, asian, etc. I wouldn't mind seeing specific factions having visual differences either. Like there sort of is now. BLers are always pale, no matter what colour they are (pale black guys look really creepy) with ashen skin and washed out hair. MR would be a little more muscular and rugged/outdoorsy looking since they're Mountain Men, and JK would be... I dunno standard?
  5. Better idea: Because I know a lot of deeds like to share writs to people that live there. The ability to 'duplicate' a writ. You can only duplicate it once, and it requires papyrus and a reed pen. The mayor gets a copy of the writ in question and it can be traded to whoever he likes. That way the owner of the house can manage his/her house at will, but if they disappear for a long period of time with no explanation the mayor doesn't have to worry about an unusable building
  6. So add in an inactivity check. It wouldn't be hard. While checking for age it also checks for the writ holder's last log in time. If the last log in time was long enough ago that advanced decay has begun, allow perimeter expansion. if not, don't. Boom.
  7. Okay so there's a LOT of hubabloo going on about the new update to the game and rules that Enki has put out. A LOT of the f2p/f2p championing players agree with it, and a LOT of the p2p players are against it. I am personally against it. But I see the need for a revision to how the old system worked. YES. The old system DID allow for griefing by deed owners. However this new system is no better, as it allowed, and even promotes, griefing of paying players, who not only pay to play the game but give the game more money by owning land. So this is how I propose a new system should work, to determine how and when a deed can or cannot expand over structures. The game needs to do an age check. When going to expand perimeters of a deed, the game should check two things: 1) The date that the deed was founded 2) The date that any buildings in the perimeter were built After doing this check, one of two things would happen 1) If the game finds that the DEED is older than the structures in the perimeter, it allows the perimeter to be expanded and restricts any actions by the owner of those buildings. This ENSURES that squatting f2p players who don't understand the courtesy system in this game and griefing CANNOT inhibit the growth of a deed. 2) If the game finds that the STRUCTURES are older than the deed, it DOES NOT allow the perimeter to be expanded and restricts the use of the deed to intentionally or unintentionally expand over the un-owned structures. I know the game can determine when things were built. These things have logs, and are already used to determine decay on undeeded structures AND the 'collected knowledge' of a deed.
  8. My two cents: The arguments go both ways. YES. A premium player could, with the old system, drop a deed and expand the perimeter over someone elses' house/enclosure to be a jackarse. BUT this isn't the most common case. The MOST COMMON thing that happened with the old system was some new player, usually a f2p player, would drop a house at the edge of a deed either without knowing the deed was there, or because he didn't understand the courtesy system that exists in Wurm, to make sure an area isn't already claimed before building on it. In the former scenario I agree with the new update. In the latter scenario I disagree with it. Overall I disagree with it. And here's my reasoning. Right now, I COULD go outside to one of the undeveloped lots of land along my street. I COULD build a fence around it and a little wooden shack. And I COULD live there. Does it make that land mine? No, it does not. (In this case I would be the f2p player squatting on a deed's border) If someone went to the bank that owned that land and bought it (the deed owner expanding their deed) they would OWN the land. I would now be trespassing and they'd be well within their rights to evict me and tear down my property. MY SOLUTION IS THIS: The game needs to do an age check.   12. I don't want to be a negative nancy I really doubt that Wurm online will ever have 'millions' of players. This game is far from everyone's type. Most MMOs don't go much past the one million mark, if that. I also don't think that, abstractly speaking, Wurm would need to be a planet larger than Earth for 'millions'. Not when Earth is home to BILLIONS and it's average population density is about 50 per square kilometer, taking into account only habitable land (excludes Antarctica)
  13. It's not necessary though, that's the thing. Just stop and think about it. Right now, we've used 0.00006% of the available land area on the current servers vs. Earth's total available land area. Why does Wurm need to be larger?
  14. That's total square kilometers, not taking into account what's covered by water. Earth's land coverage is about 130,000,000 square kilometers. Also why does Wurm have to be bigger than Earth just because the old world continents are the same size as Earth's continents? Like I already pointed out all of Wurm's maps combined is less than a thousand square kilometers, still within the size range of medium islands.
  15. I don't think there's any way to make this work. I know if I was mayor of a town and someone 'conquered' my deed I'd be mad as hell. It's bad enough if you let the upkeep get down low enough so that a drain disbands the village. At least you can replant, since you own the writs. But immediately giving SOMEONE ELSE all of YOUR writs to YOUR buildings that YOU worked hard to make, AND the village? That's just not right. Even if it yet you remain the mayor and just switched your village, I know I (and probably most others) would just disband, switch back to the old kingdom, conquer the tower, and replant. All this would ever do is make players angry.
  16. I think your math is way off. The 'continents' in Wurm are tiny. The biggest being Chaos/Independence at around 256 square kilometers. That's roughly the size of Niue off of New Zealand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niue). With a population of almost 1,400, Niue's population density is something like 5 per square kilometer. That's almost nothing. Let's say Chaos has 300 people total on it. That's a population density of just over 1/km² Even if there were 50,000 islands the size of Chaos/Independence that's only 12,800,000 km². The country of Russia is larger than that. On Earth alone we could fit over 580,000 islands the size of chaos/independence There's absolutely no way we would ever need to be even the size of Jupiter. Let alone larger than most STARS Some more information for ya: Collectively, all of the maps and servers take up 918 km². Wurm has about, what, 1,200 players? The max I've seen online at once server wide is 800 but let's assume that Wurm has say... 1800 players. Over 918 square kilometers of land, that's a population density of just a hair under 2 per square kilometer. The Turks and Caicos Islands, geographically the most similar in size to the culmination of all of Wurm's islands, house almost 45,000 people with a population density of about 105 per square kilometer, and they are VERY Rural islands. This is all on 0.00006% of Earth's land surface area. And you think we need to be 475 times the size of Earth?
  17. I think you should DEFINITELY change this. It's FAR too unrealistic. The largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter, has an equatorial circumference of less than 500,000 km. The SUN, our star, has an equatorial circumference of just over 4,250,000 km Barring the fact that this planet would dwarf our own star, and MANY stars out there that weren't supergiants, it would have a massive gravitational pull and surface pressure. Going by your measurements, Wurm would be 475 times larger than Earth, which would give it a surface pressure of just over 480 Bar, or, almost 7,000 pounds of pressure per square inch of surface area.

  19. It's not supposed to be easy to do the things we do in Wurm. I'd like you to go outside with a shovel. Dig a hole down to the bedrock. Now get a pickaxe and mine that rock, make a tunnel, find iron. Use the rock you mined to make bricks, then make mortar yourself from sand and clay, then build yourself a house. It's not easy, is it? It's time consuming, isn't it? That's how Wurm is supposed to be.

  22. I'm sorry but last time I checked if you're laying siege to a well defended city with tall walls and archers it isn't going to be easy. Defenders have always had the upper hand I see no reason to change that. If anything giving a penalty to archers on rooftops would be MORE gamebreaking than giving them the bonus they would rightly have
  23. The reason I think hay should be a crop is two fold 1) Hay is different from grass. It's a completely different strain of plant grown as an alternative or supplement to animals grazing in pastures. Usually it consists of (among grass which grows alongside it) legumes, alfalfa, clovers, green oat, green barley, and green wheat 2) Grass of sufficient length to cut with any meaningful product is rare for HOTS players thanks to Mycelium. In an effort to maintain fairness, hay being a crop (crops being incorruptible) would be a good solution to this.
  24. How do you figure? It's ALWAYS been the case that someone with a height advantage is going to be more accurate and deadly than someone on the low ground. Why should there be an accuracy/damage penalty to someone using bows/magic from a higher floor? If anything they should get a buff to accuracy.
  25. Nevermind, I got it to work. If anyone else is having this issue, delete the old client jnlp files and redownload them. That fixes it.
