That can be explained simply by two groups having their interests align. The non-priests who wanted to get the maximum sleep bonus value out of the cast, would coalesce. Not only would they coalesce, but they would vehemently discourage ninja casting through shame tactics. This offered up a great opportunity for actual priests who needed the journal entry - because the intense protective nature of the non-priests who wanted to maximize the value, offered reliability. By taking away the incentive for the non-priests to care. The 'shame' tactic has zero effectiveness. Non-priests are now saying, "Why should I care? I'm not a priest" - While other priests say, "I already got my cast, and I'm Libila so I don't care about Rite of Spring" If this unfortunate side-effect bothers you, the only way forward is to create a coalition of priests who do still care, and enforce shame tactics on ninja casters. Although, with the incentive structure effectively gone - don't expect non-priests to give the slightest crap. Especially since organizing came at a reputation cost as there was a very small but extremely vocal sect of priests who despised waiting for casts who actively denigrated the organizers. If Gamechest/Codeclub actually cares, and wants input as to how to get non-priests to care again - the easiest and fastest fix would be to simply give all players access to the sleep bonus regardless of religion. Of course, this will just anger that small sect of priests who hate waiting again. You can't really win in this case - someone is going to be angry. Another simple, and extremely easy fix, is to give advanced warning. Maybe when the prayer value reaches it's climax for a god, you then include a small timer for everybody to see when the cast is actually castable (1 day? 3days? 7 days?)- and people can organize around that. As for me? I don't care in the slightest. Faith swapping was a pain, but the sleep bonus made it too important to ignore. Now that it's gone, I can just stay Vynora, earn my 10% XP, and leech off of Rite of Spring casts without any effort or input. I am the average non-priest.

People will never understand what they have, until it's gone. Take away the incentive to organize, and people will stop organizing. Luckily for you, you aren't forced to use the global cast for Benediction anymore, it's pretty much just a shortcut to avoid going for 70 Prayer. Everything in Wurm must be earned through painstaking grinding. A haves versus have not argument will flatline here. It's because many of us are old guard gamers, who absolutely despise Freemium, Pay-to-Win and Gambling models offered by so called "Free to play" games. Many of us pay hundreds to thousands of dollars supporting a game that we get thousands of hours of entertainment and socialization from, specifically to showcase that we're willing to support this game in spite of all of it's flaws, because it didn't give in to predatory monetization schemes that abuse their fans. If you're wondering why you don't get freebies as a "never premiumed before" free character? It's because that is ripe for abuse by bad actors who could make hundreds of alts specifically for the purpose of filling their pockets with the free gifts should those free gifts actually be worth money in game. (Sleds, Elf Statues, Picnic Baskets, etc.)

Furious is an apt word, and it will likely be one that won't fade. I've never once bothered to do another map since then. I probably gather around 20 or 30 maps every week, and I just trade them for sleep powder to offload them. At the very least, it could've given me a worthless, but still fantastic nick-nack like that rare papyrus sheet in return, to serve as a decoration to replace the fantastic map I wasted. Instead, I got nothing. Not even a measly upkeep token. Sadly, rarity does not matter. Neither does clarity, as at the time nobody really knew that rarity didn't matter. I'm sure there was a by-line written somewhere in one of the development update/city hall posts. However, everybody, especially me, expected something wonderful out of that map and that extreme fail pretty much snapped me out of any semblance of fun or enjoyment from that system. In real life law, the Statute of Limitations exists for a reason. Facts and proof get muddied the longer a case goes cold, making it impossible to determine anything. I don't know what spurred you to suddenly desire your account back now, but you're well past the point where any honest GM could justifiably make a decision. That means it most likely defaults to you losing your case. If you had your account stolen, it sucks, I'm sorry you had it happen to you - but the possibility that you're trying to reclaim sold property is too strong and barring further proof beyond your word, you might not be able to truly convince anybody to the contrary. Even if you do manage to get public support from the forum community, we're so far removed from the actual case of alleged theft, that the rules and onus on the users have drastically changed in Wurm, so I doubt the GM's could do anything about it anyways. Regardless of how this case ends up. My suggestion is to avoid pestering Enki or the GM's on their ruling. People have been perma-banned for similar stunts in the past.

You aren't a victim if someone loots your defunct deed. They are performing an action that is allowed, and even previously encouraged by the game's original creator and designer. It's mindset of play falls under the realm of exploration and it serves as one of the only two methods for exploration to be profitable in Wurm. Unique locating/trapping being the other, equally contentious method. Taking care of my account, and deed is no different than me making certain that I have a bare minimum of one year's mortgage covered, health insurance and personal injury insurance - that way on the rare chance that I end up in a coma for a year, when I wake up I still have a home to go back to with a family that's been taken care of. Nobody else is going to do it for me. There is no hand-holding in life. Personal responsibility goes a long way. I advocate you take measures to protect yourself in the event of accident or tragedy.

Harsh truths learned from cruel lessons in the past: The game is designed for deeds to be looted. If someone doesn't loot your deed out of guilt. Someone else will out of greed. If you lost your deed's stuff to a looter. It is no longer yours unless a GM intervenes. Mr. Rogers isn't your neighbor. Expect your ruins to be walled up if you have a fantastic forge waiting. My suggestions to avoid this unfortunate outcome: Enlist friends in game to maintain upkeep during unplanned absences. Enlist friends IRL to contact friends in game, to maintain upkeep during emergencies. One year upkeep minimum. Sometimes not even that is enough, double up if you have a history of health problems. Smaller deed sizes last longer. If you only have an oversized deed for the aesthetics, maybe consider downsizing for longevity and cost-effectiveness sake. Mentally prepare yourself with a "Deed it or lose it" mentality. Expect to start over if you break this mantra in any way, shape or form. That's just how the game was designed.
