I'm sort of disappointed that I can't water my crops. I love the idea of playing a farming game so I'd like to do more than just, right click, farm. It would be also nice if rain could water your crops.

I think most unsealed containers should generate water when they're outside and it rains.

You should be able to collect rain in all containers that are outside except of course, containers that are sealed off like a coffin, or something as pointless as a campfire. The larger the volume of the container, the more water it would generate over time while it rains. This will allow people to stop crowding near a lake, as well as the ocean. It also shouldn't be for beneficial purposes at all times. Like in real life, if you leave out buckets filled with vegetables as well as fruits while it rains, you have to empty out all the water in them afterwards. I'm a mason in real life and before it rains I have to take all my equipment inside, I even leave a few buckets outside. Sometimes my job doesn't supply us water so that really helps us out. Not only is it great for us to get water in general, it's a real life survival technique. So this should definitely be considered...
