  1. Also like this idea. Now I want to stress this is only a hypothetical suggestion. I have not looked at what deeds would be in the path of this as its only hypothetical and there is no set path for this. If it was to become a real plan a lot more detailed research and communication would be needed. The furthest South of the 3 East/West roads, continue that west across the water and link it up to make a full square around the map. The middle East/West road, continue that all the way across to make a line straight across the middle of the map. Introduce a North/South road all the way from one end of the map to the other. - roughly in the middle so it hits Sonata and divides the outter square into 4 quadrants. You would have a massive ringroad where you could go around the entire map, there would also be major routes crossing the middle of the map allowing it all to link up with everything else in the middle of the map.
  2. -1 to this, if someone is deeding with malicious intent it should be resolvable by a ticket to CS. I worry any automated system is also open to abuse, or potentially could put off players who may fall fowl of it when they've objectively done nothing wrong.

Also makes me wonder if this system was to be implemented on mainstream servers, how would rift camps work where people build fences, would we end up with loads of random fenced squares of unusable land hanging around like a bad smell after rifts. Perhaps this is where a temporary fencing option needs to be added that the builder can put down for rifts and destroy very quickly afterwards - with no land ownership options on it.

I did my fair share of highways when the server first opened and to be honest, its a thankless and sometimes demotivating task and it takes a lot of energy just trying to coordinate and keep people happy. Especially during the land rush at the start where there was deeds everywhere and every time you pave a tile someone pops a new deed token next to it. Being a new player and not being fully aware of the whole etiquette surrounding the matter, I just had to make do in places as I didn't really want to upset people or end up trying to manage territory disputes across multiple map squares. Once the landrush died down and I had a bit more skill and experience I did go back and fix some of the diversions/compramises in now empty areas, but theres definately places I've paved where I kinda feel its too established to be fixable now. Directly south of my deed (Tavernia L11) for example there are two roads running virtually the same course parallel to each other. For simplicity I would favor the one that ends at the crossroads in my deed, neither route really "X Friendly" but the other route could be better adapted, but I know people use both and it adds quite a few tiles if one got removed so kinda left it as is. Think some coordinated work on getting parts of the map looking more swish and being easier to navigate is a great idea. Just need to be aware of the potentially choppy waters it causes from people (quite rightfully in all fairness) defending how the lands around their deed are built on. There was also a thread yonks ago about putting enchanted grass on busy junctions, maybe following up on this is still a good idea as well as any other services/amenities people can think of (maybe if a water tile drop a High QL fountain that lasts a while for example)
  5. I'd have gone SFI if I knew the game better when I started. There is more places to explore and I like all the PMK items and goodies that just don't exist on NFI.
  6. You all need to chill a bit, its just 3 letters next to a server name. That said I personally don't see the need for it anymore. Also the more time passes the more insignificant the uptime difference between Cadence and other NFI servers is, at this stage I consider them all to be about the same age. its come up before, its still here, not really going to lose sleep over it either way.
  7. I disagree with this, the forums should remain free for all who post within the rules, there is a mod team to remove any content that does not meet the standards. Although I do support some additional verification/linking to actual in-game characters, rather than just creating accounts independently. We need 1 login that works for the forums and the game, and allows us to access all our characters from one place.
  8. As much as I prefer the old logo. The way I see it with branding is that times change, some things move forward, and other things get left behind. Going back for special events/promotions is one thing, but in my opinion brand consistancy is key and the logo should be consistant across the board. On that note I'm still curious why the old logo is on the forums and in game in places.
  9. Tbh I'm surprised the Wagon doesn't build by default without any cover. Then a player could have the option to build a cover later with further materials.
  10. On the subject of this have player submitted screenshots been added to the website yet? I know it was said after the Website Screenshot Contest that it was going to be a seperate selection process (which I find a tad confusing but ok) I'm just curious if there is any updates on how that process is going or how long it will take.
  11. Ah no way, I've never seen them before. I thought they were teasing a new building part, like a big one that takes up multiple slots on the plan. They should add them though. They really should.
  12. Posting here since the Monthly Skin thread is locked. When are those gates in the background getting added? They look awesome, more building customizations! Edit: False Alarm, but maybe we do need some larger multi-piece building items that take up a few wall slots. This could well be a post for the Suggestions forum.

Tbh if I was to research a game for the first time I probably wouldn't even look at the official website, I'd go to steam reviews (which has screenshots on the page) YouTube videos, and maybe some Google Images of the game. Personally I see official websites as a utility for things like in-game stores, forums etc. In my opinion I also do not think its that uncommon for games to use artwork on websites, promotional materials, and box art. Its one of the reasons why I go to the sources mentioned above to get a clearer picture of the overall game. All that said I do hope they add a screenshots section soon as I think this would be beneficial in showing off the actual game and how its community helps to build it.
  14. Life in Wurm, Villages & Constructs Tavernia at L11 Cadence. The colossus of Vynora watches over the town as a new arrival heads for the docks. PvE Community Setting Sail. This was taken on Northern Harmony after a slaying event, there was more ships around and in front and it was quite a nice moment seeing so many players setting sail together. Nature and Landscape The local wildlife having somewhat of a disagreement with the Guards.

I don't think its uncommon for promotional material to look enhanced/different from actual game graphics, in fact I generally expect it to be the case and usually look for screenshots if I want to judge a game by its appearance. Thats where I think the current website could improve, while I'm not 100% sold on some of the enhanced images I personally have no issue with them being used. I would however like to see the site have a screenshots page or area so people who want to see what the actual in-game experience looks like can.
  16. The updates to the website look great and are certainly a step in the right direction, the game looks great in some of the artwork and images featured. Edit: I'm not going to rewrite the above but now I've had chance to think about it and also spent a bit of time looking at the images I'm feeling a bit more on the fence about it. Its a step in the right direction but If this website represents the Wurm community, why not have a scroller with screenshots from the game that players have submitted? You could even host a monthly competition on the forums, top 5 screenshots going on the frontpage for a month and people get a small in-game reward. Although I agree there is still some work to do on the logos imo, the new one just doesn't feel immersive to the game to me. Also why are those tiny W's on the site banners/borders facing different directions? I thought the start of the W was supposed to be larger but it appears to be mirrored on some of the little W's around the site. (sorry I realize on reflection this probably sounds really petty, its just something I noticed and its always had me wondering why it was done like that.) Featuring Twitch content is great but at the moment all videos on the community page autoplay at once is a bit jarring. All in all positive news though, keen to see how the Partner program helps with Twitch and YouTube content.

  18. I agree more fountains would give so much more flexibility to the decoration options. It would also be cool if they could add a fountain that could be extended by adding other fountains next to/alongside it. Imagine having a path down a hill with a line of fountains creating a continuious water feature alongside the path.

As exciting as big updates are, I think the creative side of Wurm could really benefit from a lot of smaller updates with new craftable and decorative items, the more options available the more space for creativity in deed design. That said I would love to see an extension of the building materials one day, its great to choose between Marble, Slate etc. But having 2 or 3 different designs of doorframe, window, oriel etc, for each material would really allow people to make their builds unique. For example The doors are very similar on all buildings, maybe the option to add a door with a window in it, a metal bar door, etc. The darker nights on the graphics overhaul look great as well. I'm hoping this is a sneak peak but would be really cool if we had wall mounted lamps to go at any height and without the need for a pole. I love the idea of a doorway with an inviting lamp hanging above it

  21. I'm still interested in playing, I have existing projects to complete and I also want to start a new deed on another island/cluster. I have not been playing or buying premium recently, but hope progress in the future may be able to change that.
  22. I feel like we have a dramatically different understanding of what constitutes Hype and Rage. If it helps clear up the matter I'm seeing neither here.
  23. Maybe the answer would be an additional type of wooden construction, that way new players have more variety with one option being made easier than the current types. Also experienced players get more choice when incorporating wood into their larger masonry buildings.
  24. It would be nice if there was an official update on the forums, even just a reply to the locked thread or an edit note saying when this is now likely to arrive. Imo if a target date is set it should either be met or updated by that date, and for me personally that'd go a long way to restoring confidence.
