  1. I saw one huge egg - it was on a deed.  Not sure if it was from last year and was put out to taunt people, or if it is new this year.  Could be either.

Got 5 large, 20 med, 40ish small and 40ish tiny so far.  Expect when it snows a lot more can be found.

  2. Recently killed a Forest Giant.

    Got the club.

It is Birchwood now, not Oak.

Talking to others who recently got clubs from unique slays, they all got birchwood as well.

I would dearly love it to be turned into oak.  Having an oak club is not game breaking and should be fixed.

  3. Obvious issues are obvious.

The purpose of this thread isn't really to suggest snipe comes back.  It is to try to toss out ideas to counter the problem of people posting stuff that although it doesn't violate any game or forum rules, doesn't actually belong on the forums as it is so outside context.   One or two of these ideas (my own of getting airships in, for example) are no big deal - they highlight a problem with the mechanics of the game and try to come up with a solution, and offer a place to brainstorm and come up with other ideas.  I still have no good ideas for climbing the cliffs of xan to get to a tiny peak area to dig up a treasure - other than climbing ropes or airships - and the problem still exists.

This isn't always the case, however.   How can this be addressed without violating rights or opening up mechanics for abuse?

  4. So, for those not familiar with the old snipe rule - basically if a bunch of people "sniped" a person in game, they got muted for a period of time.

Obvious abuse mechanics are what caused it to be removed from the game.

Well, my suggestion is to bring it back, but just to the forums.

If a person had enough "snipes", which really amount to reported posts on the forums - even if they haven't necessarily broken any of the rules - the form mod team can issue a Forum Mute to the person.

Sure, it has the same obvious potential for abuse - but forum warrior isn't the same as being in the game itself (though I suspect some view being the forum warrior as more of a game than the game is...)

    Thunks?

  5. Not sure why.  I mean, hey, they live in the area as well (which as you have been away I get that you didn't know), and they use that tunnel regularly.  The tunnel looked bad.  I know I regularly (along with many more I suspect) would clean out cave ins along parts of it due to all the gaps in the walls.  There was even a part where someone had dug down and was deep enough that people on horses would get unsaddled if they hit the water just right.  The paving, supports and cladding were all patchy with different types of materials ever few tiles.  The lighting was a few hit or miss lamps at irregular locations, some on the sides, some in the center, and was seriously lacking for most of the tunnel.  Even where the puddle wasn't, most of the floor is uneven from one side of the tunnel to the other, along with the ceiling that in some spots was flat, others tapered to the edges but unevenly, and in one spot was low enough that people in wagons would clip their heads through the ceiling.  Sure, it was passable and had catseyes to let Wagoneers go through, but it needed the facelift.

I would encourage people to think of it as a beautification project so that, hopefully, at the end, it can get heritage status and thus, the GM protections that go with it; along with the corrective measures to prevent issues.  For anybody that has worked on trying to get something to achieve heritage status, you are well aware of the level of detail demanded by the GM team to award that status; thus you have an idea of the scope of work involved in this project.

If you talk to Coventina, it is a project that although she is organizing and doing most of the work herself, she is more than happy to get help and input from anybody that has an interest.  NEXA is well known for taking on community projects in the area.

It is a shame that some people are using what is an obvious improvement to a community resource to just play professional victim and is trying to make an issue out of something good that is going on for the entire Xan community.  Someone was even spreading rumors to the extent that the tunnel was going to be renamed - which is just a blatant attempt to add a turd to the pot and then stir it.  I would encourage anybody with any interest to visit the area and to see what is going on, and to be open to talk to folks when they see them in the area.

  6. I think people are probably reading in too much with the auction house.  Reading what was just said, it sounds like it is an alternative to the Auction Section of the forums - and that is about it.

Sure, someone can auction off 1000 bricks, but the way this will likely work is that it will be 1000 different auctions for 1 brick each.  Each will have a starting value, a buyout value, and a timer.  May or may not have a reserve (if it doesn't, than minimum bid is the reserve ya know).  My or may not (I would guess not) connect between Northern and Southern and Epic.  With the anti-spam limits, people won't be able to put up the 1000 bricks, probably more likely 10 bricks per week or something like that.

I am curious how the portals will work with PVP servers.  Will the existing portals go away?  Will they port you to starter towns only?  If PMK's are allowed (like 2/3 of the PVP servers have) will it instead port you to the capital (and is it an item that has to be built like a portal or to the token) or will it still only do NPC towns and those NPC towns are now allied with the PMKs?   If items cannot be moved I assume that also means mounts cannot as well - that will limit their usefulness a lot (though may make people put more horse markets near the starter towns again) - though I can see that also causing more issues with the servers (pristine, cad, etc) that have so many breeders on them already.

  7. I have heard of only 1 dropping since personal journals were ended.  Now, haven't seen or heard of even half the the slaying, but say I know 20-30% of them in that time frame....  Just not an item that is around a lot I fear, and one that is in demand a lot.
