  1. Is there any reason why all animals can only be renamed by the mayor? I know that anything that is branded and therefore managed by the settlement is considered "owned" by the mayor, but it means no one else can rename them for animal husbandry reasons. It makes even less sense because Manage Allowed Objects is a permission I can give to anyone, but it excludes animals. If someone is allowed to brand animals and/or has manage allowed objects, they should be able to rename them.
  2. I understand that you want to breathe life into the older servers because that's where you've invested time, but when I read that all I see is this: There's nothing outside of tedious, repetitive labor that a new player can offer on an older server. And yes, while tedious actions are the name of the game, none of those actions are going to benefit the new player in any way. They aren't flattening an area for their home, they aren't surface mining for their expansion, they aren't making bricks for their walls. As for boats, food, and equipment? None of the things they can produce can come anywhere close to what an established player with years under their belt can do. Unless the developers add something in that makes it attractive for new players to go there, the majority of them are going to stick to newer servers with a higher population and players closer to them in overall level.
  3. If you have piles of junk, your main option to get rid of it (Outside of burning if they're flammable or shoving them in an altar and disgracing your god with them) is tossing it all in a trash heap. Problem is, the trash heap has two hangups that compound onto one another to make them much less useful than they could be: Trash heaps take too long to dispose of their contents. It's about two hours per the wiki, though I don't know if this is entirely accurate as I've had items that seem to really enjoy it in there and stay even longer somehow. If I put it in the trash heap, I'm committing to wanting it gone. Trash heaps are too small. Despite their model being large enough to fit two bulk storage bins stacked on top of one another, they're limited to 100 items. Great for the occasional item, not so much for bulk. Ok shut up you convinced me that trash heaps aren't so great, tell me what you're suggesting so I can go read a different thread. There's a few things that could be done, mostly because this is only an issue due to both of the above traits intermingling with each other. Some suggestions: Make it faster. Instead of 2 hours, why not make it something shorter? Something like 30 minutes would be a noticeable improvement. You could even add an "Empty Trash" command that could be used when it is full in order to immediately empty it out. or Make it bigger. Quintuple the size, then the two hour timer doesn't matter as much. Could even make it work off volume if you wanted, since 100 pieces of fish taking up the same space as 100 logs is a bit odd. bonus round spitball suggestions Make alternative trash solutions. Not keen on players being able to do that with a default trash heap? Make a larger one that unlocks at higher carpentry that has one of the benefits above. Want to diversify it even further? Make a compost heap that turns wood/stone items into piles of dirt/sand after X amount of time has passed.
  4. Newer players want servers that are in no way linked with the old ones. Everyone starts out fresh, that's part of the allure as to why both new and old players are creating characters there. I keep seeing threads like this with these hopeful whispers of linking the servers together or schemes to funnel brand new players into a server that's been established for years; but what you're forgetting is that they want the experience of carving out their chunk of the land and putting work in, just like you did when you first started playing. I don't know about you, but there's no leveling the playing field between new players that can barely attach a trowel handle versus veteran players that can bench press a caravel and assemble bridges in seconds.
  5. Which do you see more often, uniques or other players? Asking for a friend.
  6. You realize that anyone that abused the exploit is probably banned or dealt with already, meaning that the other people were just using channeling and linking normally. Like they've been doing for years. If you're complaining that people with channeling above a certain value aren't banned, then that's a different problem. It isn't an exploit to have an optimal way to grind, and if you think it is, I suppose you'll be calling for the heads of people that imp needles to raise blacksmithing.
  7. Is this being removed as part of the stopgap introduced yesterday, or is this staying in?
  8. On a server that has been up for two weeks. There isn't an economy, there's few people with the capability to reliably produce things past a certain quality so they can sell for whatever they want to people who want to pay. If you're complaining that people are making out like bandits by selling in a high demand environment with no competition then I don't know what to tell you.
