  1. Thanks devs. There is a clear attention to the community in this patch. I will gladly pay my $10us this month and look forward to the many quality of live changes. -Bigtree
  2. Sounds like a fair adjustment.
  3. Allow equipped backpack to hold ALL tool sizes. This would make it possible to clear the root inventory. Also would make it easier to keep 'keepers' and 'un-keepers' separate so you don't accidentally stow or drop something you wanted to keep. Also provide a real benefit to the backpack slot. I don't believe there current is any.
  4. Allow me to eat and drink from my lunch box without opening it. Currently I can drink from the thermos, but I have to open the food tin to eat. Putting the eat and drink option on the lunch box itself would allow me to put it on one slot of my tool belt.
  5. Nice idea. Xanadu seems pretty empty a lot of the time. This could help remind me it's not a single player game.
  6. I love the distinct leather idea. Make my self some crocodile boots! Also each could have slight advantage/disadvantages.
  7. Should magic really be necessary to through some rocks in a hole?
  8. Sure, I think there are probably many ways to improve the practicality (and fun) of using short and medium bows and archery in general. I don't think it needs to be easier either. Making creatures run when attacked would actually make it harder. I once collected a list of ideas linked. Most comments were positive at the time. It doesn't seem like I'm the only person that thinks archery could be adjusted. Others even made suggestions I hadn't thought of. Like improving arrows in bundles.
  9. I care about archery on freedom. I believe it is broke. Maybe this isn't good for pvp or maybe it could be balanced for both worlds. Perhaps shooting makes you move at half speed? Also keep all the same range restrictions. I don't think the developers intend to make a game with just one 'best' play style. But if you like two handers then use a two hander. Also keep all the same distance restrictions.
  10. More usefulness to the different bow sizes. Mounted archery skill would allow you to use bows while moving. Most players just use long bows. These are the times you would be able to shoot with the different bows. Short bows: Embarked (not moving), Riding (moving), Walking Medium bows: Riding (not moving), Walking (train to 20) Long bows: Standing I see one issue with game balance that is that many creatures just stand there when shot with arrows. This is great for practicing but even currently breaks the game, I think. Make all creatures either run or charge when attacked.
  11. With the nicer weather IRL I expect to leave my deed unattended for several months. I wonder if there are any best practices for preparing my deed and character for the protracted WFK time. How do I prep for several months of not logging in to best protect my in game assets?
  12. Hum... Please allow me to back peddle just a bit. It has been a while for me with the nicer weather and all. Maybe I don't mean "I think archery should do more damage". But I do believe there are many opportunities to improve archery. Here is a thread from a few months ago that collected some ideas.
  13. I too am generally disappointed with archery. I get it, in most games archery is way over powered compared to melee. But personally I would expect archery to be more effective than it is in Wurm because of how much work goes into it. I wouldn't even expect it to be more effect than melee except maybe at higher levels. But, yeah, IRL why would anyone bother with swords if they can get a couple shots in first and maybe take down their few?
  14. Yes. Also diagonal fences would be nice.
  15. Ah, I see. I figured there was a simple explanation. Thanks! However, lets fix it. There must be a simple way to better include archers and other contributors like healers and buffers. In the mean time I'll be working on my short bow.
  16. Archery at Rifts seems to be broken. My most recent Rift I checked my rift points often. I ended with 17. I was told this is a "decent" score. I watched very closely throughout the event. Here is what I determined. - I saced 10 hearts. 1 Point per heart. - I used long sword very little. Lets say 1-2% of the time. However I estimate getting around 5 points from melee combat. - That leaves 2 points from archery. I spent most of the time throwing sticks. I killed several mods on my own with just sticks (war sticks). I'm still a noob archer but my conclusion is the damage from archery is weighted much lower than melee. I'm not sure if this is a bug or by design. I can't imagen why we would discourage archery at rifts when archery is already high maintenance. I love archery in games and RL! It should be a bit overpowered (with draw backs ha) or at least equal. Wurm makes it hard, very hard, and that's ok. But once all that effort is put into the skills it should be rewarded. Fletchers spend many hours making/imping arrows only to loose them, ha. I've consistently lost about half of my arrows at every rift. Arrows take damage every time you shoot them, this makes a lot of sense. Some break, this also makes sense. These setbacks take time to recover from. Melee weapon damage takes a moment or two to repair.
  17. Bard related skills could make it easier for fellow players to focus during combat. Higher skills could make music boxes. A simple music generate could be implemented so players could make original music. Allow attaching music boxes to settlement totems for deed music. Deed music could quicken stamina recovery or shorten queued skill times. Add: Jester hat
  18. Improve on visual indication when bow string breaks. It's been suggested before that an on screen message could pop up.
  19. I didn't know that. Still ideally I'd like it to have it's own dedicated window.
  20. I think the chat/message tabs could use some improvements too. I'd like to have local separated from the others so I always see it. Of course this is possible but I've been unable to find a way to save the layout. I think the best approach is to have generic chat windows. You have the option to feed the different channels (combat, event, local, trade...) into what ever window you want.
  21. I had no idea the wagoners were so useless! Still new I guess. +1
  22. So I've been casually reading this thread for a few days now. I've picked up on the existence of a mechanic that assists in finding uniques. Am I mistaken? Is there a tool or skill that makes it easier to find these mods? I didn't see anything on the wiki or the interwebs at large.
  23. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't they do both? Yes! Both! Glass harp!
  24. Maybe foraging could be used to help spot arrows (on corpse of otherwise) within a number a tiles based on skill. Add arrow heads, shafts, q1 arrows to the list of things that can be obtained through foraging.
