  1. No. Just.... No. You want online gambling in an age-of-sail survival sandbox game? Just.. Ah. Wow.
  2. Careful, or you will trigger all the "Wurm is all about the grind" people. 😅
  3. Sorry, but I still don't see Strathbrock at 1125, 3570. I can see deeds you have confirmed before and after, but not my own little piece of paradise. Edit: It shows in the list picker, but seems to be in downtown Atlantis.
  4. I think this would miss the point a bit. Almost all activity on Wurm generates ticks against skills/characteristics. The notable exception is exploration (not archaeology, not hunting, not scavenging, but exploration) because there is not some in-game action or timer associated with it; as far as game mechanic is concerned it is just movement. When we go exploring, we are actively playing but our activity counts for nothing, and it is time that we cannot spend twice. There have been concerns raised about people being able to simple auto-run and clock up ticks, but I can't see how that would really be exploitable in a real sense. Straight line afk auto-run is simply not sustainable, disaster or dead-ends are just too likely. There are already actions that don't increment attributes if the stamina bar is zero, so that is an easy mechanic to stop exploitation.
  5. I just want whoever is playing the ducks to give it a rest.
  6. You've clearly not recently seen a dozen or more new players beating the bejeebers out of a crocodile. 😁 ( A clear case of "the second mouse gets the cheese", btw).
  7. As a Wurm Wanderer, I think something along these lines would be great. After 10 months, I have exactly ONE skill >50, mostly because standing still grinding just drives me to want to go exploring more. I think climbing adds a little bit to strength (correct me if I am wrong). Riding and sailing do not but I think should, if there is a way to do so that doesn't involve simply pressing x and going to read a book. Anything that reduces stamina should increase one of the Body characteristics, even if a little bit. Once the stamina bar is empty, the increase could cease. This would require that riding and sailing would have to drain stamina, which I think has been tweaked.
  8. It is for any player who says it is. That's what a sandbox game means, that each player decides what it is to them and how they want to play it. Frankly, any game that includes a player character is RPG to some extent. You want the game to involve tedium. That is counter-intuitive to me but for you it is a key part of the game. Hopefully, no-one takes that away from you, which is a good reason for QOL improvements to be options. Others don't see the tedium the same way, which is why there should be QOL improvements as options. I think the OP here may simply be asking for a direction pointer to tell a player the as-the-crow-flies bearing to their home. They have suggested a mechanic that retains some immersion, rather than other suggestions for things like rift-like beacons. Personally, I would like to have oven/campfire/forge smoke visible from a distance, for a real-world analogue. When exploring I have found my way back to my bush-camp more than once by finding my campfire, but I already have to be fairly close for that to work.
  9. This is now your third list of things about Wurm that you want to be substantially different. I wonder if what you want is Wurm or some other game.
  10. No, that's not how to use a rope with a saddle. That's what the saddle horn is for. If you want to drag sleds, use a hitch point like for other vehicles. Not that I am in favour of sleds, as that just means needing another vehicle for no particularly good reason.
  11. Totally, yes! It's a minor annoyance but still an annoyance when what should look like a grand entrance instead looks like a pair of public loos.
  12. I get the feeling you have pegged your niche quite well 😉 Development is complex, slow and takes work hours. Hence, easy changes (like the recent change sleep bonus timeout) can happen very quickly while others probably never get out of the blocks because devs are not able to commit to the amount of time and effort needed to make them work. Likewise, sometimes playtesting gets short shrift simply because of resourcing. If something turns out to be game-breaking or evening skewing, then things get nudged about in an attempt to settle things in an acceptable manner. My biggest criticism development-wise is that WU has been left to die on the vine, instead of being mined for its huge potential to provide some truly excellent improvements.
  13. My gut feeling is that if you care enough about the neighbours to feel a bit left behind then you may find running a local server in WU a bit too isolated. I personally don't feel the "keeping up with the joneses" itch, but I do notice that others seem way ahead of me. I am about 10 months in and my highest skill is at 52. It doesn't bother me though, so I must admit it's a bit hard for me to relate to your feeling in that regard. WU is well worth a look, but I would recommend having a bit of a taste of various hosted servers. See what suits you. Personally, I specifically came to WO for the wooden shacks! (Well, a cabin in the woods, but it turned out we can't build log cabins in Wurm.... yet...)
  14. Oh, and some regional trees, too. A couple of widowmakers would keep adventurers alert. First hit with a hatchet and get clobbered by a falling limb.
  15. No, tunnelling is boring. Surface mining is more like trench-digging. 😇
  16. Not so much seasonal for me but regional (I live in a region whose 2 seasons are basically summer and not-summer, or "winter is on a Monday this year"). Have the polar whatsits in the far north (i.e the north of the northern islands) and give us southerners southern critters. Have emus, roos and wombats, wallabies and possums etc. Penguins on celebration, kiwis on Release and Exodus.
  17. 😆 Yes, well, that's why they're white!
  18. That's actually a different suggestion. It was probably of more use, as it leveraged the waystone pathfinding system, but therefore of less chance to implement. The reaction against the notion was pretty strong. Apparently a magic mailing system and an NPC courier system are both fine for getting stuff from point A to point X, but anything that does similarly for a character is anathema. Personally, I would like to be able to auto-walk following a way-path. I would also like marker bouys that do the same for sailing.
  19. Duffus, but I don't rightly know where I am ðŸĪŠ I think it is about 500, 3200, but I rowed in from Mel, in the Wurm night, and just sailed a bit south and dropped my stake.
  20. Would be nice, but yeah, sailing/swimming is a teleport and you can't take animals unless they are stored in a cage. I remember seeing a couple of horses swimming right at the eastern edge of Deli (from memory) server. I guessed that someone had tried to lead them off the server and left them behind instead.
  21. No. Wear it or don't wear it, but let's not start making stuff invisible. There is already too much of that. EDIT: p.s. I like the look of the adventurer hat, so wear one of those most of the time. If I forget to switch it for something more suitable when I need to prevent head-bashing-in then that's my own stuff up. That said, I would like two "load outs" for kit. As in what is equipped in either hand and what is on the head/face. One default for pottering and the other for fighting (activated automatically on targeting but also able to be manually activated).
  22. Counting corpses, I saw 4 crocodiles in the inland margin of Melody's central desert. I guess "desert" is why 3 out four were dead.
  23. Colour my hand up. A few very close calls, as well. If this is just a straight line walk, I can't see much value in it. It wouldn't work well unless you were close enough to home to not need it. On the other hand, if it included pathfinding then it wouldn't have a chance of getting up; AFK player pathfinding is just not part of the Wurm paradigm.
  24. Given how many times this has been suggested, can we at least get a nod from the Devs that this is being considered?
