  1. Self-reflect for bit and maybe you will see where you told all SFI players that they are not relevant. Your inciting post was arrogant and rude. Granted there wasn't name calling, but it was pretty on the nose. EDIT: And you're a chat moderator?
  2. That there is part of the attitude that drove me from NFI. I used to be fairly firmly of the belief that some of kind of connection, or maybe emigration, should be implemented, but in my experience there is an overall sense of entitlement in NFI that I don't see in SFI and a sense of co-operation in SFI that I didn't see in NFI. That gives me misgivings.
  3. Agreed. I often don't even treat all my injuries (stingy with the cotton, you see). As long as they are all healing, I will usually leave them to heal over time unless I am in hostile/unfamiliar territory or I am about to intentionally poke something with big sharp pointy teeth.
  4. I have had to do that. It works fine as long as the interior void isn't too big for your skill.
  5. What about, a healing cover and square of cloth in a bucket in water (or wine?) to create a dressing? Or put squares of cloth in a cauldron, add water and boil for a sterile dressing which you then wrap in a healing cover to keep in the healy goodness? Use saltwater and it will heal a wound really fast but also leave you hurting for a while. Healing could be so much more than it is currently.
  6. 😄 I actually don't mind the roleplay aspect of getting injured and needing to do something about it. I think I will always be a noob.
  7. Ah, so the issue is wanting "speculation" to be no risk. Well, it aint. These were meant to be rewards for spending money on the game, not just another profiteering opportunity for those who think you can win Wurm. If someone spent a lot of money to get a lot extra skins, then what they have is exactly what they can expect to have. I have sold skins in-game, and I have always formulated the price to be the actual silver-equivalent cost to me (or lower in some cases). I don't really have a problem with people trying to cash in a bit when the opportunity is there, but they have absolutely no right to expect that opportunity to be protected for them. There was never any claim made when offering these that they were intended to be exclusive in any way other than "exclusively available to everybody who buys them".
  8. Yes, there is a whole lot of depth that could be added to healing, so that it is an actual skill to use rather than just an item in a skill-list (if you see the distinction I am making). I understand light bruising, and even medium, but how does one get a life-threatening bruise without breaking a bone? It could happen, but fractures would be more common than killer bruises. Fractures could be VERY slow to heal (and could keep hurting you and slowing you down) without a splint made from a branch or shaft. Cauterizing wounds would be a great addition to that, too. Oh. What about stitching bad and severe wounds? I do like the idea of having to bandages from a specific item of material - squares of cloth for instance - but I also like like the idea that if you are stuck out in the middle of nowhere and out of bandages/cotton, you could cut up your hat or something in a pinch. Hmm... maybe "cut into rags" should be a thing.
  9. I sort of agree. However, cloth squares aren't better for bandaging, when they probably should be. Also, being able to accidentally use up a more valuable crafted item is not good, while I wouldn't want to prevent the ability to use one intentionally if there is nothing else available. This would hopefully add a bit of depth to the healing skill (admittedly, only a little, but better than nothing). I am still a noob, so I still rely on bandaging and covers to treat wounds - I don't think I have a single LT weapon.
  10. A completely new set of items with new rules profoundly affecting the gameplay of many has recently been implemented, so I will politely and hopefully disagree with "extremely doubtful". What I am proposing would not necessarily change any rules for existing items - with the intentional exception of items that are undesirable for inadvertent use in healing (puppets, rugs etc). It would add a mechanism to create something better than the existing materials, by intentional action. Yeah, that certainly fits with being more efficient. Although, I wouldn't change the old items parameters, just introduce new ones for the bandages, so it is an added dimension rather than a changed mechanic.
  11. Oh, it would be grand to know which lock goes on without having to go look it up. I mean, boat locks, gate locks and door locks are kind of self explanatory but small and large padlocks not so much.
  12. We can see our friends list no matter what server we are on. It isn't total simple, but it shouldn't be a big leap, certainly not a nightmare, to generate a global id for villages and alliances. The problem would be that most probably already have an id that another alliance also has on another server. I guess that is where the nightmare happens - mapping existing IDs to new global IDs.
  13. Yes! Unmined veins don't decay. Unmined rock doesn't decay. Neither should meteorites. Also, Yes! This after all is how our distant ancestors occasionally acquired "exotic" metals not otherwise available within trading distance.
  14. Two questions: Are you on NFI or SFI? What is your ingame name? A lot of people of have bunches of pelts, and I know in SFI at least that a call out for help with a pelt will likely get you you buried in them.
  15. Rat lairs are garbage piles, so maybe trash heaps built off deed should also function as rat lairs. After all, not only they notionally the same thing, "trash heap" is just "garbage pile" pushed through a thesaurus. Maybe "lesser" lairs, with a lower spawn rate. I am sure I read somewhere that leaving meat or corpses on the ground will attract hunter mobs (and pigs).
  16. Perhaps it is time that Wurm had actual bandages for bandaging, made from other cotton (or wool) items and consuming those items in the making. I am not suggesting disabling bandaging with cotton and such, although bandaging should not be possible with puppets, and using a whole rug or sail to wrap a bite on the hand is excessive. What I am suggesting is that a knife/sword/scissors could be used on squares of cloth, rugs, sails, clothes, etc to create bandages. The action time would be based on the weight of the material, and the whole of the item would be consumed in creating a like weight of bandages. Make bandages more effective than other cotton items of the same ql. Give more healing skillgain for using bandages than other items. Give healing skillgain for making bandages.
  17. oof. I wouldn't want a pop-up, but why allow bandaging with rugs? I get that the mechanism is about as simple as it can get, but a little good sense wouldn't go astray - just don't allow bandaging with certain items. hmm.... time to make a Suggestion 😉
  18. You may be on the wrong cluster. I have been on both SFI and NFI (as well as a few WU servers/clusters), and my experience has been: a) Independence on SFI - wound up isolated on a deed ultimately abandoned by the mayor. Local chat was radio silence 99% of the time and I had no alliance etc. When I found my early game frustrating and vented a bit in chat, a player offered me a great deal of help. b) Release on SFI - sometimes local is empty, but most of the time there are (or were, last I was on) from 2-3 up to 8-9 or even more players and chat is lively. Villagers help each other and look out for each others houses, gardens, etc. c) Harmony, then Melody on NFI - good grief, it was like an ants nest. Admittedly it was early in servers' times, but there were people everywhere and chat was a meaningless fast scroll of text. d) Cadence on NFI - I had a little positive interaction with a few players (and I mean only a few, I could count them on my left hand, and that one doesn't have all its fingers). Generally I got radio silence, except for one guy who would yell in local and PM at anyone who chatted in his local without first giving them the secret password/handshake or something (for the record, they also built a well and then locked it behind a fence and gate - because water is so scarce in Wurm). At one point I called out both in local and in GL for some assistance and got no response with the sole exception of the one person who would chat when they were on. Generally, I found that on SFI, when I am travelling anyone popping up in local at least waves but also will often chat a bit. I found on NFI ONE person who would do that, and I travelled a LOT. Wait, I did have a second person chat briefly. I only had to offer them a couple of free cows (one pregnant) to get a conversation started. YMMV. Consider that Wurm's population is thinly spread, across the digital geography and across RL timezones - and the nature of the gameplay has many people watching timers and event logs; they just don't always see chat. Also consider that telling people off (somewhat repeatedly) for not being sufficiently friendly and chatty with you is actually not likely to achieve your desired result but rather more likely the opposite. You could of course come over to the dark side and dabble in WU.
  19. Yes, wonderful idea. Although... there should be some mechanism for getting rid of locks on PVE (beyond sacrificing them). Maybe such creation locks (or any locks under say 10ql?) should be trashable.
  20. Yes. I have left meteorites and simply put a chat message out telling where to find them because my mining skill just wouldn't do them justice. They would have been wasted on me.
  21. Different animals, but this is awfully close to my first day in Wurm, too. Didn't know I could bury, didn't know I could swim. I made the newby mistake of taking a "public" cart off deed and dismounting on a deed that wouldn't let me access the cart, the horses, the contents etc. I put in a ticket, hoping against hope to at least get my horses back. Astarte dropped in and I honestly have no idea how long she had been standing right in front of me trying to talk to me in chat. We arranged to go to the cart, where she popped over and got me my horses back. Then she turned me into a cart.
