  5. According to my Paypal records, I have 13 months of premium, twelve of which are basically continuous, except a few weeks here and there when renewal was tardy. Do these gaps muck up the counting? I got wool.
  6. I don't know if this is an "unintended consequence" of the farming changes or not, but replanting fields of grass that have been stomped down by livestock is a real chore now. The failure rate is almost an order of magnitude higher. I have 24 gardening skill. I would imagine this applies also to planting sprouts, which would suck for valuable ones. I realize it's a tricky business balancing the game, but this is going to be jarring to a lot of people.

  8. Yeah, the upgrade kinda borked my video drivers. I might have run some diags. I cleaned out the cruft and reinstalled manually, and it seems to be working now *crosses fingers*. Thanks!
  9. I did a big update to my Linux system (Debian Wheezy), and lots of Java stuff started doing weird stuff. I couldn't even run the client until I explicitly set the java alternative. The game runs and I can log in, but the graphics are really messed up. I spoilered a couple screenshots. I tried a bunch of java implementations, including the Oracle one, as per instructions here I did notice something amiss when I was building the debian package: dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (used by /tmp/make-jpkg.rfC1XQhgwA/install/usr/lib/jvm/j2sdk1.7-oracle/jre/lib/amd64/libprism-es2.so) There was no error reported at the end of the build, however, so I went ahead and installed it. Everything worked pretty much as before, with the same washed out graphics. I noticed a lot of errors in the console log this time, though. Probably just overlooked them earlier.   10. A few things: 1) Moving writs still leaves a trail of walls behind 2) Some basic documentation. A lot of features aren't very intuitive, and this thread is a bit long to fish around in for posts concerning the new feature when it appears. 3) some subset of copy/paste/mirror x,y/rotate writs or arbitrary blocks of ground. One way to do a global shift would be to reset the center (or corner) of the map. 4) keys to rotate the camera in 3D view, as LMB drag right/left; or are there keys for this already? See number 2 5) Undo!
  11. Marvelous. The updater thing updates just fine, so it's really just a minor nuisance. After I load, however, I have to toggle 2D/3D view to use the navigation keys, though. One new thing that would be awesome: a popup window with a cheat sheet of all the keys and what they do, for new folk and old folk who haven't used that feature in a while. I accidentally created a quick-save named "Save name". That could lead to confusion and possibly data loss.

  13. Concrete sliding: what's going on here? Wurmpedia is short on details, and it doesn't work like dirt. I'm getting the "it will only slide away" message with 13 slope directly and diagonally. EDIT: that's exposed rock slope, not the slope of any dirt on top.

  15. I dunno if this is something you can do anything about, or if it's baked-in to one of the libraries, but the program gobbles tons of CPU time sitting idle, even in 2D mode.
  16. Inside writs would be great, that doesn't work either. Ground type, for ground floors, not floor type. If I have a garage paved with cobblestone, I need a brick for each tile. 21 planks, 1 large nail and an optional tar for floor boards, etc.
  17. Very awesome. Features I would love to see is a copy/paste for whole writs/buildings.. individual floors would be cool, but that could be taxing the implementation effort vs utility trade off. Also transforms on buildings/writs: move, mirror horizontally/vertically, rotate. Looks like iron fence bars are not included in the mat calculation for stone and iron parapet. Mats for pavement missing also, but I think that's been brought up already.

  20. I experienced a severe case of this this morning. I couldn't move for about an hour while my client reconnected repeatedly. I restarted the client once, but this had no discernible effect.

I feel, however, that chuckling several times while reading a forum thread filled with shameless braggery ought to count as some kind of achievement, although perhaps it's not mine.   22. So stuff inside a village is on some kind of timeout and eventually becomes takeable? I suppose I am getting to the point where making an alt just to test stuff out is sounding worthwhile. I racked up about four days of gametime in 7 or 8 days of RL time. To evaluate, you see. You can't pick stuff up you yourself dropped if there's another player nearby? That doesn't sound right. It'd be an interesting way to make a nuisance of one's self if it were the case! It obviously keeps track of the last possessor, otherwise you wouldn't be able to take your own things inside a village.
  23. I've asked around some, and have yet to get a clear and unambiguous answer. Why are some items "steal" and others "take"? If I drop some heavy barrels to escape a spider, can anyone come by and pillage it (or just unlawful premium players with high body control or whatever, heh)? I see both options inside and outside deeds, so there's more to it than that. Maybe I was still inside the "perimeter" after leaving some village (yeah, that's confusing, too), but it's still unclear what's going on inside a village. How do I get the privilege of leaving "steal only" stuff lying around? Is that for members of a village, perhaps? Plus, it's nice to drop stuff you don't need in newbie areas, so presumably it'd be an optional thing.   24. How about some feedback in the even box when a taken item is dragged-n-dropped into inventory, but ends up in a container. Just a little extension to the message, for example: "You get a wizzfoo and place/put it in your backpack".
