  1. [10:47:23] You entered through the portal to Wurm on Wrath day, week 2 of the starfall of Diamonds, 1094. That's 874 days, 23 hours and 27 minutes ago. [10:47:23] You have played 216 days, 15 hours and 26 minutes. Day one NFI player, couple hours after opening.
  2. Again, we already have data. That's is patently false. That line is always thrown out and proven false twice. It does nothing to prop up the old servers and has detrimental impact on the new servers. Clearly i was wrong and you guys have learned nothing and are hell bent on repeating the same mistakes over and over hoping for different results. Getting new players has never been a problem for Wurm. Keeping them has been. Wurm has not gained players from server merging and has lost players when that happens. Yes, Xanadu is an example of failed server merge. It's not as glowing an example as pristine and release because 1) We knew before it was going to happen even before it opened because they advertised it as such and many waited until the merge to head over instead of making new characters (which helped for a short time to offset the number of people who left the server...or the game outright). 2) it still had something going for it. That being at the crossroads of several trade routes before you could simply choose a server destination. The spiral started after server merge, but mostly on the interior. After the server hop change the rest of the server dropped off real fast. Xanadu's few remaining communities were located largely on the coast at points where serve hops happened. Xanadu still maintained some life as a central trading area. Going strictly by the numbers is false reading as many people sold their accounts and deeds, and so really only a few active players existed, owning multiple deeds. Now the area and alliance I was in at Somerholt was probably a bit excessive on that point, but it wasn't uncommon across the entire server. The mineral reset didn't help matters either, so server merging alone wasn't Xanadu's problem ( boat routing and mineral reset also playing a part), but it was the server merger that started the ball rolling. As for Pristine and Release. There's no doubting that. Those communities died and died fast because of server merging, plain and simple. If not for Xanadu being able to hold on a bit longer as trading center, it likely would have died just as quickly as several of the interior communities played out as such...but all that did was slow the it down as compared to Pristine and Release. Elder Statesmen is not the boss. But getting his input on the game he created, on the code he knows better then anyone is far cry from "Rolf said this, therefore it's going to happen". You didn't make that claim so I'm not pointing this comment at you. Someone else did. You should be able to read enough into to know that. A comment on plan Rolf had before he sold the company (trading direct ownership in ClubAB for stock in Chess to be specific) does not quantify that statement post sale as the de-facto position post sale. What's been said since the sale is far more relevant then anything said before. And what has been said? "We aren't ruling it out, but we don't have any plans at the moment."...which is a complete about face from Rolf said. So the point others are bringing up "Well Rolf said" is irrelevant at this point. You aren't able to make the distinction of that being the argument being made? yes Rolf still has input, as he should. But for anyone to use "Well Rolf said, therfore it will happen" when Rolf is longer the single owner and sole guider of the games focus for the future is not an argument.
  3. They were on the same cluster, PvP was already there You could get to Epic from those servers. Quite frankly, if you went to pristine or release you weren't someone who was interested in PvP. Only a very tiny group of people actually went to Epic from those servers (I know this for a fact because I lived in a village that had had a PvP group for Epic). You can try and make this about cluster merging but it's really just more server merging. PvP is separate from PvE and isn't even apart of the discussion because Defiance is really more of an Epic situation then a Chaos anyhow. All the servers, with the exception of defiance, have the same mechanics. Defiance is a mix of Epic and Chaos. Epic is separated, just as Defiance. Again, PvP is not even part of the discussion because it's a separated server so it wont be merged with anything, like Epic. You still haven't tackled the what I said. That we have data of what happens when you merge servers, and it's disastrous for the newer servers and it's communities and it's economy, and does nothing to help the old servers. It only gives a short term benefit to the few highest level players. That's a fact. We know this is a fact. We have 2 incidents of it to prove it. And anything Rolf had to say before he sold his share in the company has no bearing on whats been said by the new owners through the Devs since he left. They've been pretty consistent, which is that won't rule it out, but they have no plans for it. The fact that Rolf has been wrong twice on server merging, this new position is not surprising. It shows that the new owners and the current Devs have learned from Rolf's mistakes.
  4. Calling anyone a racist for not wanting merge servers is just wee bit over the top.
  5. This isn't speculation. We already have data of what happens when you merge. It improves nothing, and only destroys the newer servers. This was proven with Pristine and Release, then again with Xanadu. It only benefits a handful of older players on the older servers, and only for a short time, and is completely destructive to the communities and the economies of the newer isolated servers.
  6. Getting closer My second foal with more speed then draft, albeit the water trait is rather meh. ...but, it is an Ebony!!
  7. It could only get better with "it gives more resources "and "it' looks plump and ready to butcher" traits.
  8. Ok, doing some testing. Got two Old ebonies. Im actually using them as a mating pair. Male draft with strong, carry more then average and easy on gear. Female speed with Fleeter movement, strong legs and accustomed to water. Both have the misc Looks unusually strong. Since accustomed to water and easy on gear is generally meaningless, you can say they are both, for testing purposes, 2 traits. I'm stripped of everything except clothes, and sword/shield, spyglass, and a rope for 2.50 kg. for weight im using 4 mine supports for a total of 242.50. Now this testing is done once ive run of stamina, just to make sure that doesn't effect speed change (not sure if it even does, but wanted to remove the variable just in case). The hill in question is only 10 slope, but it's long enough to be consistent and get an average. Also to note, no gear on any of them, no saddles, reins or shoes. bareback. The draft does 12.23 to 12.95 on the flat, and 9.63 to around 10. The speed does average of mid 15km/p. On a hill it drops to around 7.80 into 8.2. Well, obvious result, the speed horse on a flat is faster then the draft, duh. up hill, with load, the draft only loses about 2-3 km/p while the speed horse loses 6-7km/p. So drafts are slower, but they lose less on a hill, as it should be. Nice. In fact, at least in this specific case the draft is actually faster on a hill. Ok, without the load (2.50 kg). Draft is 19.45 on flat, 13.37 to 13.77 on the hill Speed is almost either 21. or 23.05 (it doesn't slide, it's just one or the other depending on test run) on flat. 14.47 to 14.55 on the slope. So the draft loses around 6 km/p while the speed loses 7 to 9. Speeds overall are fairly close (except for the 23 km/p) and the speed horse maintains itself as still faster then the draft on the hill when traveling light. I would expect more traits and top gear would exponentially expand the gaps incrementally, but i'd expect overall results would still be the same, with the draft performing better on a hill under load conditions then a speed horse. Ok, bit more fun. testing one of my oldest "new" foals, an adolescent female mixed with 1x speed (fleeter movement) and 2x draft (strong body, carry more then average) with a 3rd useless draft Easy on gear. I consider this, for testing to be 1x2 mix. On flat light, 18.73 to 19.45. on slope 13.75 to 13.90. Not bad for adolescent, almost on par with the old ebony. with load, 12.24 to 12.95 on flat. 9.66 to 9.70 on the slope. nearly on par with the Old Ebony. Ok, dont have one ready to ride with more speed, less draft. I'll have to use an old pre patch veteran (venerable) Male ebony, venerable, fleeter, lightning and strong legs + strong body and carry more then average. (plus a misc) for 3x2 Flat light, 25 about but some some testes 27-28 ( and occasional spurts of 18? Yea, gonna consider that an outlier). On the slope, 14.55 to 14 66 Flat under load 14.42 to 15.12. on the slope, 13.77 to 13.99 with the occasional rush to 14.01 **So the adolescent loses about 5 to 6 light and around 3 to 3.5 loaded The venerable loses about 10 average light and almost nothing loaded, 2 at the very most loaded. While there is a significant speed difference on the flat, there is almost no difference on the slope, light vs loaded., again, under 1km/p. So as we can see, the draft traits make a noticeable difference on hills, and a significant difference while under load. So how important is it to mix draft with speed on mounts? Well, depends on how you use your horse. If you generally travel fairly light not much, if at all. if you travel heavy, and especially in hilly areas, it matter alot. The heavier you are, the steeper and more frequent the slopes, the more important it becomes. ** to note, the adolescent is not an Ebony, unlike the rest. I can't determine how much an effect the Ebony speed trait effected the outcomes, but my only ebony mix was just born 3 days ago so it's a long way off from riding. Shame, too, cause it's a 2x2, perfect for testing.
  9. Ok, so a few days ago I finally got a 2x speed with 2x draft, and today I got a 4x speed with 1x draft Better results as which traits and how many is likely dependent on skill (and proper picking of mating pairs) I'm not expecting solid results until I get much higher AH. I also managed to get 2 males, so I will have future breeding pairs to see if dual traits will carry over or if mixing traits is more like breeding mules. It only carries once so you have to breed separate pairs then get them together. Unfortunately the only old 5 speed venerable I have left are two males.
  10. A third mix As you can see, one was also a draft. So, I started with 26. I had to drop a pair since I screwed up and they were related, so that dropped it to 25. 2 post venerable mothers died, so that droped me down 23 pairs. Out of 23 Ive had, so far 3 success (albeit with bleh traits, but this about showing it works, not about getting the perfect breeding pair) 4 failures (sorry didst think about taking screenies)...this draft, one speed, and 2 speed mixed with combat. So I'm getting almost a 50% success rate so far. Oh, to note, one of those failures, the speed, was from the same pair that I got the first speed/draft mixed from, the two gold horses.
  11. Got my second mixed trait foal Still heavy on the draft, light on the speed. I really want the opposite, but this is looking good that it wasn't just a fluke. Funny though, both appaloosa, but got a blood bay
  12. Because the a good rider needs both speed traits and a couple of specific draft traits. And what I saw was months ago. They've made some tweaks since then. That's what I'm exploring. If you cant mix traits from different categories, then the whole system is broke and needs to be trashed. The only "dominate trait" category that completely wipes everything has been the speed traits. All other traits, since day one, have been able to mix. Speed is the only one that cancels everything. So the whole "dominate trait" thing is bs. it's not dominate trait, it's simply speed over riding everything if any parent has one.
  13. Well, I got 26 pairs going. Most are still dropping foals from their previous pairings, so it will be a while before i can see any results. Even if it is finally working I don't expect RNG to work in my favor and drop 26 mixed foals, but hoping I get at least 2 or 3 out of it, specially considering im only at 76 AH and not on Defiance or Epic with sped up breeding times.
  14. Im hoping it's not just a happy fluke. After breeding 12 pairs of the old mixed venerables for a several months skilling up and not getting a single mixed offspring (speed and draft, got a lot of other mixes) I gave up that it was going to happen and split the second gen into speeds and drafts solely. The only reason i had those two mated up was just to retain the color. Either way Id be a winner. Sometimes drop a speed, sometimes drop a draft. I still kept a few specific matched trait pairs, but most of the rest Ive mixed back up hoping this happens more often.
  15. I got my first immortal Bison today. Unfortunately it has such a mix bag of other traits it's mostly useless, but... Also, the other day I got a first, a mixed trait speed with draft foal. Just finished re-arranging my breeding pens for more mixed pairs to see if it was more then a fluke. Also can confirm Picks up stuff is working, as already reported elsewhere. So far all Ive seen are frags (which are useless to me, but "landlords" wife is happy about as she can grind on them) , but someone in the alliance have reported getting veggie drops a couple times. Seems stationary is working...a bit too well. I mean, them little @%*#%! don't move at all...ever. Males over females lately seem to be a bit off kilter though.
  16. Well, i did get my first Speed/Draft crossover foal the other day Not spectacular traits, but the fact it can be done now makes me happy. But at this point, Im getting a substantially more males then females. Since my main focus is on Outputs (cows, sheep, bison ect.) lots of males is not what I want or need. I just need enough males to keep several bloodlines going.
  17. Shameless bump. Stock updated, Pretty much out of meat, most around 100 units, a couple around 700-800 units. about 3k total.
  18. @Nitrofied On which server? I think I can still do it on Cadence. Someone mentioned a spot on Harmony I should be able to use, and I'm on Melody, so I know I can do that from from where I'm at.
  19. Can do. I'll be in the game a bit late today. I am breaking in a new grill tonight, but I will be on at some point today (or early tomorrow, depending on where you live, lol). We just need to arrange delivery or pickup time.
  20. One I used before was the bridge at S-17. Another at G-20. It was left from an abandoned deed, but someone has now deeded there. I think if people are going to designate waystones for public use they should be near starter deeds. Well, frankly they should be on the starter deeds, but that's a GM issue (There was publicly accessible racks at the southern starter deed on Cadence, but it's the only case I know of). I seem to remember using one for the triangle waystones just SW of Harmony Bay at one time or another. I also used one north of Harmony Bay, but it was only 2 crates so I didn't mind the short travel.. That one is now under perimeter. The only one I could find near Harmony was west of a fair distance, and i couldn't find any animals to pull a cart (plenty of donkeys around, but apparently they aren't strong enough even for a simple cart. That one would have a real chore anyway, since all I had was cart....and 66 crates. There was one around the Heartland side in the bay, but it's been a long time since I used it. It may still be open to use, but I cant remember exactly where it was. I'm not trying to say this is something you guys "have to do" It's not something we did intentionally on the old servers, it just worked out that way because people were dropping waystones everywhere for future expansion, not for public deliveries. We just took advantage of it. If anything, they should be in the perimiter of the Starter deeds, so any racks left for too long can decay quickly, but this would take an act from the GM's. Honestly we aren't in any better shape on Melody. Being a smaller island we only have a few highways, and you'd be hard pressed to find one that is anywhere near the shoreline outside of the Overture area, so I'm not trying to point fingers. Ultimately it's my own issue. I could just drop a 1s deed for purpose, but I currently don't usually get alot of requests for wagoners since I got the Knarr. I've only done 3 on Cadence and 5 on Harmony, and just one Melody (where I am at) since NFI started up.
  21. Can do. I'll be online a little while, need to do some rl running around. I can deliver tonight (evening ealry morning US Central time). I have another person on Harmony near you I'm trying to set up a delivery with also. Hoping I can set it up to do both of you in one run.
  22. @Maliciouus Yes, I still have enough to cover that. I am at Vinland on Melody, O16, on the NE side of the canal if you wish to pick up. My in-game toon for NFI is Snaglejr. I am usually on evenings and into ealry morning hours of US central pacific time.
  23. Maiya Well, don't think it would proper to tell people they "need" to put in publicly accessible waystones near shorelines. On the old servers this was rarely an issue, but it's not like it was a deliberate or planned thing. It's just when many of those were built people ere dropping waystones everywhere for future expansions. They weren't thinking of cross server trade, it just worked out that way. So it's not a case of "We did it like that on the old servers" cause we didn't, not on purpose anyway. It just conveniently worked out like that. There were even some deeds that had near shore area setup specifically for public use (containers and all), especially those that wanted to be consider a market. As it is now, if I need to pack up up the wagon and some animals so I can drive inland, that's the kind of delivery I charge for, because that's a pain in the donkey and takes up room. Using waystone along a shoreline was way on the old servers where I could avoid having do that. If I need to pack up animals just to even get to a waystone I'm going to charge for that, and I might as well just deliver right to their front door. Having a dock, waystone (Which I can drop wagoner container), or meet along the shoreline is what I consider reasonably accessible. In the case of Harmony I knew of couple that were reasonably close. It seems, people have decided to expand their perimeters over the tops of these to no longer allow people to use them. They don't seem to be new deeds that I know of, but at this point I don't want to go so far as to say people of Harmony are deliberately keeping people from using normally accessible waystones for deliveries. They could very well just be new deeds that I don't remember that just happened to deed over the waystones. So if it's deliberate act on part of people who live on those servers. it's not for me from another server to tell them the change. That's there decisions to do that. It's up to people who ,live on that server to tell their neighbors, "hey we need to set up a couple areas where people from other servers can set up inland deliveries, cause I'm getting my orders canceled or they're charging an arm and leg to find one inland that they can use." It''s just my position that, until I locate usable token, I can't do wagoner deliveries on Harmony. (as far as I'm aware, at least as of 3 weeks ago, the ones I use on Cadence are still accessible).
  24. I'll get started on that right away. Edit: OK, run into an issue on Harmony. the two locations I have been using for wagoner deliveries there are no longer accessible. After 4 hours of sailing I was unable to locate any other accessible waystones to setup deliveries inland from the shoreline. Until one is located, deliveries to Harmony are shoreline only. Ill have to check Cadence to see if the waystones I was using there are still accessible.
  25. Cleaning out the bins of old stock. mix and match to your needs. Minimum order of 1k, please. Free fsb's and delivery, if reasonably accessible. I do have a Knarr for low water ports. If delivery by wagoner small crates free, but large crates 25c each, plus wagoner fees. **Wagoner deliveries only available on Melody currently unless you can provide a known public waystone near the shoreline that i can access with my own wagoner racks (or public racks).** 1.5s for 90+ql farm goods. 60c per k for the meats and fish. 97ql wemp available for 2s per k. Contact Snaglejr in game. *current stock as of July 3rd
