  1. Ok, 4 schools of elemental magic: Fire (life and death), Earth (buffs), Air (travel and movement), Water (knowledge and status) Requirement to join: Fire (go to the altar of fire and keep a campfire burning for 24 game hours) Earth (go to the altar of earth and mine 100 rockshards) Air (go to altar of Air and survive jumping off it *muahaha*) Water (go to the altar of water and pour 500kg of water on the altar) Limitations: Cannot cast wearing greater then cloth armor Cannot cast in water/midair Almost all effects are not permanent (other then damage) Spell System: New mages get only the first level spell and gain others each 10 points of skill (hard to level, akin to raising faith in speed) Casting Spells would use Mana, which could accumulate and recover similarly to favor Certain Spells would require components to cast, which would be consumed in the casting (to balance power)*not added in yet* Some other spells would require a focus item to be active in order to cast (to balance power)*not added in yet* Each Elemental Magic skill would exclude you from learning the others Each Elemental Magic skill would be a separate skill Casting System: Using your Casting Skill (example Fire Magic) you would have a range of Casting Strength from 70-120% of your casting skill that would randomly be your casting strength (example: I have 34 Fire Magic, so my casting strength could be from 23.8 to 40.8 ) The casting strength is then plugged into the particular spell effect to generate the result. For further purposes in this post Casting Strength will be noted as CS First Level Spells: Fire : Create Flame (lights any object, creates campfire when cast on tile, burn time as CS in minutes, can be fueled) Earth : Create Stone (creates a 3x rock shards, ql equal to CS) Air : Feather Fall (negates next 3 falls you sustain within time frame of Air Magic skill in CS) Water : Create Water (fills any container with water, up to 20kg, ql of water equal to CS) Second Level Spells: Fire : Cauterize (cast on a wound to stop bleeding, however adds a very light wound to area) Earth : Strength of Stone (raises strength by (CS/10) i.e. at CS 20 it would raise your str by 2 points) Air : Ease Load (adds a negative weight of (CS/3) i.e. at skill 20 it would reduce your load by 6.5kg) Water : Lesser Divination (provideds information of area within 5 tile radius: Tracking, water locations, events, etc) Third Level Spells: Fire : Flame Whip (does up to 3 light wounds (can miss)(CS/4 dmg) to target within 4 tiles, 5 second casting time) Earth : Endurance of Stone (raises body stamina by (CS/10)) i.e. at CS 30 it would raise stamina by 3 points Air : Quicken (reduces action timers by (CS/3)%) i.e. at CS 30 it would lower action timers by 10% Water : Refresh (fills food bar of target by (CSx2%)) i.e. at CS 30 it would fill food bar 60% Fourth Level Spells: Fire : Detonation (does (CSx1.15 dmg) to target within 10 tiles, 8 second casting time Earth : Shield of Earth (grants a damage shield equal to (CSx1.15) that absorbs damage until depleted) i.e. at 40 CS it would grant a 46 pt shield Air : Violent Winds (does light damage (CS/3 dmg) and shoves all players/creatures within 5 tiles of you to outside that range)i.e. at 40 CS it would do 13.3 damage, 3 second casting time Water : Greater Divination (Gives same info as lesser divination but also includes the ore tiles info and is 15 radius effect) Fifth Level Spells: Fire : Flamestrike (does (CS x1.25 dmg) to 1 radius area (3x3) within 20 tiles, target chosen at casting, so aim ahead) Earth : Upheaval (does (CS x.65) dmg to all in a 3 tile radius (7x7) and stuns for (CS/13 sec) Air : Rapid Step (adds (CS/12 km/hr) to your speed) i.e. at 50 CS it would add 4.16km/hr Water : Sense Life (Similar to Greater Divination but only shows living things, however at a 50 tile radius) NOTES: Ok these were just hacked together to give an idea what i was thinking of. The numeric figures were designed to be decently balanced at all casting levels (since power of most increases as casting skill gets higher). Obviously there are likely to be mathmatical mistakes and things over/under powered that I have not seen, so in feedback I am more interested the feedback on the idea rather then the numerics. If there is any particular interest shown I will flesh it out with level 6-9 spells and maybe hybrid spells (multicaster and way cooler **actually i have a ton of ideas for these, so i will probably add them later anyways** ). Further Note: Work is getting busy so i can't do more today
  2. -1 a great sword should be relevant, not par.
  3. AFK mode

If priests weren't useless to play as a main (yeah, i know its debatable) this might not be a problem. Edit: Vynora priest
  4. How about if the fence in on your deeded land only then ? Regardless of who built it. Sry had a Duh! moment not thinking of the obvious exploit.
  5. I had a nice little lol at 'goat trail'. +1 for relevant roads.
  6. Hmm in that case just provide both in the rightclick such as Chop (hatchet) Chop (rake)
  7. Ok I have an idea to make the toolbelt even better. Rather then bind keys to quick-switch to your respective tools, just have the toolbelt make it so that it counts as having all tools in the belt active at all times. Therefor with a hatchet, knife, and hammer in my toolbelt i could get all the hatchet options whenever I right-click, or the hammer options, or knife options. It would be a simple fix I think and would make a good idea even better.
  8. Yeah we need an easier way to cross, admittedly its an adventure to go there, but its a home server without pvp, most people who dont want pvp dont want to cross wild either. (JK Home for Life ) (Edited: I can't spell)
  9. Ok, TrollSlayer should be a cool title, but its too easy to get. Lets reset it for all and make it so you have to SOLO a troll to get it. Perhaps even at a minimum age of mature to get the title.
  10. I would up the spawn rates by about 40x, and let BL raid the home servers
  11. This sounds great, could make it a wiki thing, with someone in charge like for the mapping. Submit a screenshot indicating you beat the current record and get your claim to fame
  12. I think I see a red hat sticking out of that hole. Shame they had already fixed the spire bug, coulda been a much bigger pit ;D
  13. Its impressive how much things have changed over the years. I don't really want to make this a long reply but I remeber a few years ago being involved in a dispute over a fence that I made, and at the time the GM descision was that since the area I had fenced was a large area that numerous people hunted I would not be allowed to fence it off. This was despite the fact that I had a village deed within the fenced area. Naturally at the time I was mad but looking back, it was clearly the right descision not to let one people/group exclude other groups from land usage beyond a reasonable amount. I wish those in power today saw it that way. Please note: Due to continued misgivings over that matter no names were used, lets keep it that way, ok.
  14. It was a fun three days though, hehe.
  15. Good idea with the mini-games, perhaps link them into the crafting process or something(sounds familiar, did someone already suggest that?)
  16. Apparently this is the first post I have ever made in about 5 years of play but here we go: The Arctic Voyage (A fanfic/suggestion, game data included at end) Wedge came to the Glen a few weeks ago with his two friends, Vicks and Biggs. They said they were looking for a boat to head north. Wedge said he had heard a legend about a metal in the frozen north that could cleave through steel, and he wanted to try and find it. After arguing about a fee and collecting our supplies, we boarded our sailing boat, The Leshay, and undocked. We ventured forth into the unknown north, feeling the oppressive chill bear down upon us more each hour. Finally we cited the landmass, a sea of white snow pierced by jagged peaks. The water near shore was almost entirely frozen, but we managed to tie off the boat and wade through the icy mess to shore. When we arrived on shore I could barely feel my legs apart from the burning in my toes. We set about making a base camp, the first order of business being to get a fire going to dry and warm ourselves. The resulting campfire was the most beautiful thing we ever saw and as the sun started going down we huddled by it as the wind picked up speed. Within the hour, a howling blizzard had erupted around us, and we pulled closer to the fire to keep from freezing. By morning, Vicks was dead, frozen solid. The rest were not much better; but at least now we had the sun. Even in the ‘warmth’ of day however, we found we still needed to take regular breaks near the fire to prevent frostbite. It came time to start developing our land. We realized rapidly that the soil was far too frozen to ever support decent crops, let alone even have a growing season. Our supplies had maybe a week worth of food at most so Biggs volunteered to sail back for more supplies. I can’t help but think he just wanted to leave after seeing what happened to Vicks. By midday we had scraped aside some dirt and began erecting a hut. It wasn’t much, just a simple shack, but it cut the wind, and we would need that at night. Wedge and Niya cut a few trees into manageable firewood and dragged them back to the shack. We are determined not to be cold tonight, damn it. While they were out they spotted a large goat nearby on one of the mountain slopes. I ran out with my bow and short sword to see if I could secure dinner. I tracked the goat through the snow field to the foot of the mountain. I could hardly feel my fingers when I finally saw the goat through the heavy snow. I nocked my arrow and inched forward as the goat snuffled in the snow looking for grasses. Once I got to about 30 meters, I lined my shot with the goat’s neck, the frosty tip of my war arrow glinting in the sun. I held my breath and took the shot, it was good. I let out a holler seeing the arrow find home and the goat take a quick half step before hitting the ground. Grabbing out my butcher knife I rapidly field dressed the carcass and wrapped up the meat. We would eat good tonight. I fashioned the goat-skin into a coat that afternoon, using a needle and thread. It is so much warmer being out and about with it on. It came around 2 am; I awoke suddenly grasping for my blade. Wedge was already trying to peer through the crack in the door outside. In the dim light we could see it, a great white bear, sniffing around the fire pit near were our goat dinner had been. We knew the bears of the south, but this one was far larger, 500 kg or more easily. As we peered out at him, he lumbered aimlessly around or campsite and finally towards the shack. Wedge nudged Niya awake and we whispered a short plan. All was ready. The bear approached the door warily, and right when he got about 2 meters from the door we burst out, Wedge in front holding his large shield to the bears face. I darted left and Niya to the right. I slashed at the bear’s hind leg, hoping to feel my blade find tendon, but without luck. The bear reared up and struck Wedge’s shield, a mammoth blow that sent him sprawling with a sizable dent in the shield. The bear then whirled towards Niya in time to find her long sword thrust through its eye-socket. The bear heaved up again but faltered and fell into the snow, its life-blood steaming out of the wound into the snow. Soon we would all have coats. It has been a week now. Biggs hasn’t returned, the food is practically gone, although the addition of goat and bear into our diets has been a saving grace. We have started hunting hares as well, with limited success. It just seems that we burn as much energy chasing the dern things as we get for eating it. I saw an odd track today in the fresh snow. It was about 18 inches long, no sign of claws, it looked like a human foot, but far too big and who would even think to walk barefoot around here? The snow must be playing tricks on me. Wedge began his mining operation in earnest today, we broke the surface rock around noon and he began to gather samples of the rock to analyze. He seems really excited for some reason. I am also really excited; the small oven I made from the rock he mined is heating our new house far better then the campfires in the shack. It is nice to finally be able to sleep without fearing the loss of my fingers and toes. The rumors were true! Wedge said today one of the rocks he got has the metal of legends in it! I set about building a forge with Niya so we could smelt the stuff. There is good and bad news today. Biggs is back! And he brought food, bread and potatoes, and meat. The bad news is that when we smelted the ore, we couldn’t get enough heat to fully separate the metal; instead we got some kind of metal-rich slag. We need to use charcoal I think, to get the higher temperature. A few wolves wandered nearby today, but they never got close enough to be a threat, or to be dinner. I heard a sound tonight; it was some sort of howling coming from the mountain. I grabbed my coat and bow and headed across the snow fields towards the mountain. It didn’t take long to find the source. From behind a snow-covered rock I peered out, thankful that my white coat didn’t show against the snow. About 40 meters away was a great white creature. It looked almost like a man, except ten feet tall and looking like it weighed several hundred kg. Its skin was a bluish purple shade and its hair was matted and long. I decided to against drawing its attention and withdrew back to our camp. I think we might need walls…. It took 2 days to get our charcoal piles built and burnt, with no sign of the creature, but this morning we lit the forge with the slag and charcoal and low-and behold we successfully extracted the metal. It was lightweight with a silvery sheen. It took a hammer-blow as well as the best quality steel and yet seemed unnaturally light for its size. We started pouring it into bars and set it out to cool. It will likely take a while to fill the boat though; not much metal came from the ore. We decided to call it Mithral. Game Data for Suggested Additions • New Server, premium only of course • Permafrost tile type (acts similar to dirt but cannot be changed to another type or planted on) • A heat bar, lowered by cold exposure and raised by heat exposure • Addition of temperature to the weather data, variations but ALWAYS cold on arctic server) • Heat bar recharged by being near fire (3 tile radius). • Stove will heat an entire building. • Coat items to prolong the heat bar (i.e. Fur Coat, Long Fur coat) • Unable to plant crops (frozen soil) • Blizzard in addition to fog (increased heat reduction and reduced campfire effect radius) • Different animals: o Snow Leopard (reskinned mountain lion) o Hares (similar to pheasant, spawn on permafrost tile) o Mountain Goat (similar to deer spawn on cliff tiles) o Deer (very similar to deer, spawn on permafrost tile) o Yeti (a little harder then a troll, but without regen) o Polar bear (slightly harder then black bear, spawn on permafrost) o Walruses (spawn near water) o Winter wolves (reskinned black wolves) • New effect ‘Wet’, would increase the loss of heat bar • New effect ‘Cold’, would indicate you are low/out of heat bar and slow speed slightly • Longer daylight (to imitate arctic environment) • New material (server specific): Mithral (as strong as steel with half the weight and penalties), low production rate ( .10 per ore), smelting would yield Mithral Slag • Item ‘Mithral Slag’, created when Mithral Ore is smelted • Item ‘Mithral Lump’, creature by combining charcoal with Mithral Slag (similar to steel production) • Item '_____ Bar' (item made from metal, lower decay then lumps, can be melted into lumps) Final Note With this idea I was thinking I wouldn’t want to see a server where all that is different is that it looks snowy, I wanted to go with the idea that the cold was absolutely a part of almost every activity you would do, and that you would have to monitor yourself at all times. Yet, at the same time there would have to be respite, hence the idea that you could use a stove in your house to heat the whole house.
