  1. +1 to Aariez, -1 to sleeping in tents. Community stuff can't be made obsolete, remember that.
  2. Imagine smithing for 12 hours in a row and not having a sip of coffee. ALL HAIL COFFEE DIVINE
  3. At first I was like "why". Then I was like "but why". Now I am like "why not". +1
  4. In my travels through Xanadu I saw many abandoned deeds, many places left alone a long time ago and a lot of ruins, flat terrain retaken by nature. I've seen lonely guard towers sticking out in the middle of a forest. I've seen paved squares where houses and castles used to climb high above the trees. I saw horses looking desperately for their long gone owners. I've also seen cavern systems partially collapsed by the flow of time. In all this decay and abandonment one place made me wonder what it was like before. Only one place made me stop and look. One place had the power and the mysteriousity that made me decide to lead its rebirth and this place is... New Aranea I decided to continue what someone wanted to create before. The old thread is right down below and the qualities that this place used to show are there too. That stated I also wish to say that I do not plan to copy and plagiarise the old Aranea. I only wish to improve what it was meant to be and I believe I can lead the New Aranea more efficiently than it was lead before. The area sure requires a lot of work to restore it to its greatness but I believe I can do it. I believe we can do it. What it will be: - a great and beautiful town worth every look; - a tight-knit community with an emphasis on good fun; - a project of systematic improvement and progress; - a council like the one old Aranea used to have; - no ranks; - no specialized crafters; - player housing; - group projects; - making silver coins together; - and much much more! What it is: - a mailbox; - a guard tower; - a few deity altars; - a couple of bridges leading up the cliff; - a small lake; - plenty of resources; - enchanted grass; - a simple house; - a small farm; - plenty of land waiting for tenants. What I want from you: - commitment; - time; - being a team-player. But remember that I don’t want you to stay online 24/7. We all have lives outside the game and we all need to prioritize those. It’s normal and understandable that sometimes we simply can’t play. Now with that being said… Everyone is welcome! New players, returning players, veteran players - we have space for everyone! Just remember this is a project to make a town from scratch. Commitment will be required. Go /tell Thorvar in-game or post below. You can also send me a PM on the forums ? Here is a map on how to get to us from the old recruitment post (I think the owner doesn’t mind) And here, to keep tradition up, is a couple of photos of how the place is looking at the moment. Come and help me make it better. Photos during the day coming up
  5. +1 Make it so that when you plant the feeding trough on any surface the surface becomes a tile named "feeding trough" and it's grazeable.
  6. Instead of pointing out the hilarity of my post can you at least tell us why exactly this would not help in the long run? Basically what I said, but we would still be glad to hear a constructive opinion. IMO it would make it too easy and the old players over 90 meditation would basically riot.
  7. +1 We are the mayors and we pay for our deeds. We pay for the spaces others build their houses on. We are the tyrannical kings etc etc. Why exactly can we not evict someone who has been gone for a while now? We still pay for the space that we can't use. Basically, we're losing land. We used to hold the writs but now that the writs are gone we're often left with abandoned decaying structures in the middle of our town that we can do nothing about. My proposition is: - If the villager has been offline for 60 days in a row the mayor takes ownership of the house and the items inside. The villager trusted the mayor and the mayor trusted the villager in the first place so no harm done here even more so since the villager hasn't logged in in a while and probably won't again. - If the player has been kicked out of the village the mayor takes ownership of the house and the items inside. This will require some safeguarding otherwise heavy abuse will take place. I'd say we should make kicking players out a village-wise poll. If more than 60% people agree to kick someone out the player is indeed kicked out. That would be enough to stop loot-hungry mayors. This whole suggestion is quite controversial. On one hand it gives us, mayors, the ability to do more about our deeds. No more abandoned plots of land decaying in the center of our lovely towns and stuff laying around. Everyone agrees how annoying this is and how little we can do about it. Sure, we can ask a player to give us permissions for their buildings etc but nobody will give us ownership of everything they have just like that and often they can switch permissions before they leave so that after they come back they're still a happy villager. This, in my opinion, is preposterous and I can't agree to that. On the other hand it makes villagers a little bound and it makes us treat them a little bit like a resource. I don't like that either but losing money because someone decided to leave an unaccessible pile of mess after them is not acceptable. I know from experience that people lost entire huge plots of land due to that and they still had to pay for it in upkeep. It's a little off isn't it.
  8. Large amount of time required to skill up in Wurm is what makes it Wurm, but then again making it a little bit easier would probably bring in more playerbase so +1.
  9. Floors - yes. Bridges and roofs - no. -1 to painting bridges allllll the way. I really wouldn't like to see blindingly pink marble bridges. They should remain unpaintable for the same reason paving is unpaintable. It would look just bad. Floors however - why not.
  10. +1 to more players and the idea of voip if optional. -1 to another server. I don't see how this would work personally, I think there's not enough people for the space we currently have. Making another server would mean connecting it to others by sea and that would make biographies etc useless because people from other servers would settle and it would be a mess. Bring them to the existing servers, let them RP on their own. Unless you want to make another cluster for RP which is a -1 from me too. We need to liven up the economy tbh.
  11. Hey, can you add my deed? Name: New Aranea Position: 6145, -4110 I am the mayor Thanks!
  12. First of all, hi. I recently acquired this toon and acc from a close friend and I got to know a few cool updates Wurm has gotten over the months/years. I can't help but notice how complex and awesome the cooking update was and what it brought. It literally made the players semi-responsible for what is being created and it made them use their raw creativity to come up with new recipes for their cookbooks. I've been thinking - alchemy is not a big thing here but what if it was? Imagine: - wound healing potions (simply healthpacks) - running speed potions (simply sprint boost) - karma potions (maybe?) - timed affinity potions (maybe?) - cr increase potions (maybe?) - repair potions (instead of using different resources use the potion to fix a wall e.g.) - etc. etc. All this could be pretty interesting as long as it works like the cooking system. Let's bring some arcana back to Wurm shall we?
  13. I didn't even notice that. Thanks kind sir, I'll check it out now and get back to you. EDIT: Yup, that's it. Thanks man, shame on me for not noticing it lol. Now the dedicated server started acting up so I'll just get on to this. Thanks again.
  14. An old and crappy GPU, Nvidia 710m. It shouldn't be an issue tho since WO runs well and I was able to run WU for a while.
  15. You click connect and it CTD's basically.
  16. So yesterday I tried making my own very private (dedicated) server to play on my own via lan. It started connecting just fine but at some point even before the loading stage the game just crashes with no message or errors. The server, however, was still up. I decided to see if I can connect to any other server and as it turns out I couldn't. The same thing happened. That's why I decided to uninstall and redownload both WU and the dedicated server. I ran the server, connected to it and for maybe 20 minutes it was fine. After that - crash. Couldn't connect to any server ever since. Anybody has any ideas what to do here? EDIT: I forgot the log. EDIT 2: I manually created the Prefs key using regedit and this is the new log.
