  1. We have a rule on my servers that anything that gives you an unfair or unintended (by Admins) advantage over other players isn't allowed. Being a great player isn't an unfair advantage, but finding a loophole and exploiting it is. As far as getting banned for breaking rules, whether littering or anything else - there are lots of servers to choose from. Why go onto someone's server and promise up & down that you will never do something, then get p-d off when you're caught doing it? We say this right on page 1 of our server website, and I think it applies to all servers:
  2. Interesting. I was sort of wondering whether the rare salt exploit was possibly all the things he said, but then he mentioned being banned from my servers and now I question his motives. Yes, my server has extremely strict rules. We attract and keep players who either really like rules or who are very good at following them, and that's as we intend it. That said, we have never banned anyone for a single, small incident of littering. It would have had to be significant enough that we didn't believe it could be accidental or unintentional before we'd let someone go who we had previously vetted so thoroughly. So if he's claiming innocence for disregarding our rules and calling us out for it, now I think he probably had a lot more intention in what he did with the rare salt. Just my 2 cents.

  5. I've found that a lot of players just want a new server. They enjoy the first part of the game where you're working to establish yourself, but then they lose interest in just "living" in the world and prefer to start the challenge again. That said, the main reason I find that people are leaving WU is that other games are coming out to distract them. I have over 16,000 hours in WU and honestly if I didn't have people counting on me to keep producing the Sitheil series of servers I'd probably be off playing something else too. I've seen a lot of players lost to another game (Valheim, Ark, etc) only to come back for nostalgic reasons. I think there's a lot of love for Wurm, but people need variety and don't necessarily want a game that continues on endlessly after they've already done everything they enjoy in it. There are long-timers, of course, but a whole lot who just want the initial challenge.
  6. Tree Growth at 1

    It won't thin out what's already there. Your best bet if you want it back to grass is to use the ebony wand set to Grass (Auxdata 2) and just paint the area with grass. If you change Data 1 and Data 2 to 9, you can do it in 9x9 sections. On my servers, we set tree growth to 80 or 90, which allows a bit of new trees but not much.
  7. Off-deed caves eventually fill up with mobs such as cave bugs. To avoid this, you could deed over the spot and just give permissions to all players so they can still trigger whatever the mission is.
  8. For me the issue is how large the keybindings.txt file gets over time. I have been going in and deleting extra entries from time to time. I find it useful to keybind the same keys for different sets of actions, so I continue to need to set them from in-game.

  12. I think it will likely be faster to mine for silver or gold, or trade someone for it. You don't need much for a statuette. Unless you really love finding the lumps/ore by archaeology. For me it takes 10x longer.
  13. We started getting this message, too, a few months ago. On the servers I play, it's usually only specific tiles that show this error.

    I'm not seeing this in the config file. What line is it on? EDIT: The link you posted goes to 0.6 for some reason. I found 0.7 and now have the mod.

  17. Thanks :-) It's one of my favourites to solo play on my LAN, though also good for a little team of friends.
  18. Wurm Map Generator FX

    This is normal with a new map. It takes several days - really a week or two - before foraging builds up to normal rates. I usually run a new map for a week or longer before opening to players, for that reason.

  20. It turned out to be just a building permissions error. Needed to make sure the person who placed the crafter had permissions on the building it was in or they couldn't assign the forge.
  21. I think this is how I did it: make sure the forge is on the same tile as the crafter, right click forge, and there should be an option to assign to crafter. EDIT: make sure the crafter contract is activated before you right click the forge, then choose Assign
  22. I'd rather have a single mod, because the cluster mods sometimes don't interact well with some of my others.
  23. Tbh, I won't even play a server that lets crops rot. There are a handful of "must haves" for me, including no crop rot, ways to make money without relying on other players (who may be scarce), and the ability to ride a horse & load a cart immediately. I know there are other players who don't mind, but I've started from scratch so many times now that I don't have the patience for it anymore.
