  1. I made a stone bench because they'd added to the wiki that it works for placing decorations on top of. But unless my derrière counts as art I think that's untrue. Also my friend's bookshelf looks like none pizza with left beef, because it was only possible for him to place items on one side on some of the shelves.
  2. Edit: Actually nevermind, not like any of it matters anyway. That snide remark probably wasn't aimed at me, but I am one of those people that think work is work and leisure is leisure and that we shouldn't be expected to work for free (on a game we already pay for).
  3. I noticed this when I made a boat entrance not long ago, and I must say it was quite the surprise. I never tested if concrete could be used to bridge the gap since I could create and entrance from inside the cave - But even if that would be possible on certain corners it still very much feels like something that should be looked into. It has the potential of locking people out from others (PvP) as well as their own (PvE) caves.
  4. Playing a game and having opinions on it is a leisure activity. Testing features, testing gameplay, going through test cases and recording the results is a job. The game itself already borders on playtesting at times.
  5. Don't put the burden of your fears on the people who have done you no harm, is what I'd say.
  6. Erasing the stripes from a zebra doesn't make it a horse - They'll still be there even if you can't see them. So if you think a certain person will try to cheat you they won't stop trying to do that because you remove private bids. If you don't trust someone to be honest enough not to make an army of alts to bid on their own auctions you shouldn't bid on their items. If you happen upon proof that they are doing shady things behind the scenes then by all means: Report it. But trying to get the forum moderators to enforce a strange layer of extra "protection" that ultimately will only make it harder for secretive people to buy stuff is pretty useless in my opinion.
  7. So is this a bug or not? Because the ones that are under ceilings don't seem to take as heavy damage - Just the ones I have on the balcony. Edit: Actually - Scratch that. Only the ones placed on FURNITURE on my balcony have taken heavy damage/decayed away. The ones standing on the floor are fine πŸ˜•
  8. Aww, I like this story! I hope the dragon didn't eat anyone (or that he at least savoured it if so)
  9. That is not what happened in this thread though, so I do not see why you are giving me attitude. If this thread aggravates you somehow then that is your problem - Not mine.
  10. For sure, but I'd rather not have decorational items decay away. I have them up for display, not for skillgain
  11. I put a flower display on my balcony, and it has started taking damage. I would like to have the flowers out for display, but even the Valentines flowers have taken heavy decay hits. Additional info Deeded: Yes Over a month left in upkeep: Yes Indoors: Yes, on a balcony (no roof) I would much prefer using the decorational items for actual decoration rather than having them hidden away in an LMC, so if this is an intentional feauture I'd very much like it not to be. And if it's a bug - Pls hapl it do be takin ma flowers
  12. -1 as snow means some of my friends can't log in during Christmas. For their sake I'd actually like snow textures to be optional or non-existent. We get yelled at by randoms every time we point out that the snow is Hell on Earth on several screens/graphics cards, but somehow the uncalled for aggressions still haven't fixed the actual problem. Strange that.
  13. Congratulations! "Protests too much"?
  14. When the new cooking was introduced some people said that it was good because they LIKE cooking in-game, and it added more "depth" to it. That would be fine if cooking had been a 100% voluntary activity, but it isn't. More and more of the game has been tied to eating, and it's absolutely not something you can opt out of. You cannot do anything if your food bar is too low, but if you spend your time farming and cooking in order to get that sweet sweet sustenance then suddenly there is no time left to do anything else. I'd wager that 90% of the people who still claim the cooking system is great are the ones that make bank from selling pizza to the rest of the playerbase. A lot of the time "depth" just translates to "time consuming", and that's garbage. There are so many things you can do ingame so you really don't need artificially induced "complexity" to keep you occupied. When a feature detracts from what you actually want to be doing it's typically not a matter of depth but one of time consumption. Do people fish because they like fishing mini games, or because they want fish? Do they cook because they like to cook, or because the game forces you to eat in order to be able to do other things? The fishing and cooking are two of the features that immediately come to mind, though I realize the question is meant to open up discussions about how we view "depth vs. ease of use" as a whole. The problem is that several different philosophies have been used for different features in the game (which isn't surprising since they've been introduced at different times, designed by different people), so it's impossible to just give a general answer. For example: Archaeology contains lots of steps and several tools, as well as knowledge about the general mechanics. But you engage in archaeology because you think it's a fun feature, and maybe you log in JUST to do archaeology - And if you don't work on that skill it doesn't prevent you from doing other things. The skill has depth, but it doesn't detract from your goal. Another aspect where the "depth" has overtaken the "ease of use" is when it comes to management features, such as discarding items. Discarding was supposed to be a way of letting players help out with reducing the item count, so why is it: 1. Based on your action queue, and 2. An action you can't do while performing other actions? No one actually enjoys discarding logs/shards, so there's no point to it having depth. I don't need to believe that it is something realistically doable, because the whole point of it is to remove items from the server. I'd like to do my part, and it would be a lot less annoying if I could do it to an entire pile in one go while continuing to mine or whatever. "Complexity" and "Depth" (aka lots and lots of steps and time needed for completion) can be added to anything: But it shouldn't be. Not all actions/skills are the same, and shouldn't be treated as such. Building a house is a process where the goal is the house itself, therefore it makes sense that it's an involved activity. Eating a meal isn't supposed to be a process, it's supposed to be a means to an end - And if someone reading this is some kind of garbage disposal unit that sits around chugging meals in-game all day I respect you, but I am not about that. I'm really glad to see that this aspect is being examined more closely, so thank you for that. πŸ™‚
  15. I am going to practice using my emotions on you, thank you for involuntarily volunteering for this! Here we go: 🀩😴πŸ₯°πŸ˜«πŸ™„πŸ˜ƒ
  16. Hahaha I feel so dragged But what if I do not know how to emote? What if it is too hard? Tell me, what do I do?
  17. I feel like I just opened a mail that tries to both sell me male potency pills and a video link to a motivational speech about self-actualization. I am confused πŸ₯΄
  18. I'm sorry to hear that, and I wish for him to have an enjoyable time. He always lit up the room by not only tolerating but actually seeming to enjoy the company of some of the more difficult personalities in the chat. That for sure is a quality not many possess, and he probably isn't even aware of it and the impact it had on the general mood in there. Also he came to save my ass once when my horse decided it didn't need me anymore on a stranger's deed along the coast, and decided to take on a bear on its own to protect me (I think, I don't know what goes through the head of a horse). I think a pile of gear was all that was left to retrieve, but I definitely remember that Mikeyyaya was the one that helped me do it.
  19. Since you're experiencing a lower QL output in the video than in your gameplay experience I'm guessing it's caused by compression. Bad compression algorithms produce a lower sized file by compressing the contents without consideration for its quality, and it's often very noticable in the video and/or sound depending on what algorithm is used. I'd suggest looking through the "custom" option in the Quality section to see if there is an option for no compression.
  20. If someone wants to respond to a PC with the correct price there's nothing that stops them from doing that - And if they only respond to pricechecks to correct others that give an "incorrect" estimate I don't think they have the best interest of the person asking in mind anyway. I absolutely understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but the PC conversations in trade chat often drag on for ages and derail into arguments about what a correct price is and what jagoffs the others are and this and that. It's been an issue for a very long time and I'm glad it's been addressed. And again: Anyone is free to give an estimate with the @ tag, and if someone doesn't want to give a pricecheck unless they feel they need to correct someone else they probably don't have the "correct price" as top priority, but rather the need to be "right" or a need to hype up their own prices.
  21. I'm feeling polite so I haven't even added a weird joke to go with the picture; The most offensive thing here is my face (please don't erase my face, I need it for buying alcohol).
  22. I'm sorry this happened to you, and I'd like to thank you for sharing your story in the hopes of helping others. The items that have been stolen may end up for sale, so if potential items of yours pop up on the forums you could ask the buyers to check the signature. That way you could narrow down some of the forum alts they're using, and hopefully at least avoid doing business with them.
  23. New players often do things on purpose but without fully understanding the consequences: That's not the result of inattentiveness but rather the effects of being able to do anything in a game with a steep learning curve. For an older player it might be nice to be able to burn birch tools or slap a tent on a wound, but for a newer player there might be value in putting an opt-in checkbox for such actions. A new player has a lot more longterm value from spawning with a tent and a shovel after each death than from being able to slap the tent on a wound one time. (I don't know if tents can in fact still be used on wounds, just using an example of something that used to go sideways a lot right when tents were introduced)
  24. Hahaha nothing quite like scaling the tallest mountain only to be used as a lawn dart
  25. I've no idea, but I am now imagning you being hunted by a dragon and I feel sorry for you but also can't stop laughing
