  1. It's not about feeling pressured to buy things, it's about the fact that the game's visual identity is already hanging on by a thread. New items are imported from various creators, in various styles and with non-matching models and textures. It's a garbled mess that's gradually bleeding the game of any kind of uniformity. Eventually the game will have more shitty and ridiculous looking novelty items to define it than it has an actual semblance of identity.
  2. It almost feels like a piss-take because so many players pointed out that the rabbit ears and rabbit backpack took the game down a stylistic path we don't want it to run with: This. This is the direction we don't want it to go in. The game is starting to look like a point-and-click adventure for toddlers who are learning all their animals and colours.
  3. Both. I think that the game needs a lot of things, but more types of items and animals is not it for me. It doesn't really add anything beyond a higher item/creature count (and lag).
  4. -1 Please, no, no more animals
  5. Would be neat. Anything that gives us more control over the feature would be good, really.
  6. I've also experienced shifts in fighting stance, seemingly randomly since I've only noticed it upon logging in. But wouldn't at all surprise me if it happened during a disconnect and I just didn't notice because the GUI gave no indication.
  7. Bump: Some of the item skins don't make a lot of sense if you can't put the items on display when you're not using them
  8. Mardi Gras 2024

Checking out the site on Josuha's stream: It's looking really good! You've got a nice and colourful party spot going there
  9. 100 Shortsword

    Congratulations, well done!
  10. The spice must flow

It is never our intention to inconvenience any impalong when we set a slaying date, but I'll level with you: We typically don't delay slayings on account of one of them either. Impalongs often occupy entire weekends (or weeks), and the organizers and finders are people with schedules of their own. Finding a date that works for all parties isn't always an easy task. It is also worth pointing out that while we do have an established slaying deed we can only do so much to keep the uniques contained. Some of them sit nicely inside the mine for the most part, seemingly unaware of their upcoming beheading, while others do heavy property damage and have to be dealt with sooner rather than later. This one belongs to the latter category. (All this to say we didn't intend to be a bother - And we do hope the impalong goes well!)
  11. Congratulations to all the winners! 🥳 As for the question: The important part when it comes to contest rules is that the winning submissions follow them as stated, so that all participants have the same opportunity and work with the same restrictions in mind. That seems to have been the case here, which is great!
  12. You have offered no alternative explanation as to what your intentions are, or what you want, so we can only go by what you have actually written in the thread (and how you have responded to people's posts). You can hardly fault us for that. But fair enough, it's a relief to hear that all of us have misunderstood what you're after. What the 100 rift goal should be replaced with according to me is really not of relevance for the thread we're in, and I think it's unfair to take it that far off-topic. This discussion is already bordering what's relevant to the thread at hand, and that the Journal goal was mentioned to begin with was because it was pertinent to the underlying mechanics of the suggestion.
  13. I began my posting in this thread by suggesting a solution for that, i.e. remove "100 rifts" from the Journal requirements and replace it with something enjoyable. You just didn't approve of that suggestion since your thinking is that everyone should suck it up for the sake of the Journal - Even though I literally suggested to make it so that people wouldn't have to do that. It's not enjoyable for people who don't like rifts to hang around while rift enthusiasts milk points at a rift, and it's not enjoyable for rift enthusiasts when people who don't enjoy rifts want to sacrifice hearts ASAP to end the rift. Replacing the 100 rift goal with something else is a solution that would satisfy everyone's needs. If you have a reason (that isn't self-serving) as for why that isn't good enough I'd like to hear it. And no: Forcing Freedom priests to play on Epic and Epic priests to play on Freedom is not a valid argument as for why people could "skip" the 100 rift goal - People play on the cluster they want to play on, and shouldn't be forced to play on the other.
  14. Let's not pretend like every player has the opportunity to complete all of the goals: You know they don't. Even if you go to Epic as a Freedom player, to get around being a priest, to complete the improvement goals you're not guaranteed to be able to. If you don't play on Epic it'll be quite the scrounge to come up with all the materials needed to work on your goals. And if you chose not to play on Epic (or vice versa) you likely don't want to be spending a huge chunk of your time on that cluster just because the assumption is that either you do that or you suck up going to rifts. Can you ignore the Journal completely? Absolutely! ...But: If you want to complete the Journal and you can do the Rift goal, why wouldn't you? They literally put that in the Journal to encourage people to go to rifts. But when you go to rifts solely for the purpose of the Journal you're suddenly told you're playing the game the wrong way, and that you're "ruining rifts" for wanting them to be over as quickly as possible. Going to rifts as part of the Journal completion was a goal chosen for the players, not the other way around. People have been making the best of it by trying to endure them as best as they can, which oftentimes includes finishing them "early". Up until the rift rewards started being worth ingame moolah this didn't use to be a problem, since most rift enjoyers were understanding of the fact that the majority of players only show up at rifts to complete the Journal goal.
  15. -1 A potential +1 if the goal is removed from the Journal and replaced with something actually enjoyable.
  16. Searching for stuff is fun in theory - In practice it takes too long, which means that some people who are eligible for a gift don't get to actually enjoy it. I didn't get to assemble my Christmas stuff until after Christmas was well and truly over, which was a bit of a bummer since they were all holiday themed. I appreciate all the effort that went into the event: It was a really good idea, and it was well executed. It was just too much, and took up too much time (especially in combination with the archaeology fragment hunting). I don't mind the skin approach - Either skin or solid items is fine by me.
  17. The outrage with forum moderators who are doing their job, and providing a valuable service is very odd. I'm all for calling out bad practices when they occur, but this wasn't it: That thread was a shitshow before the removal of a bunch of posts. And even if it hadn't been the thread should've been started in the PvP section (and I don't think the discussion would've reached any further conclusions there either).
  18. No. I understand where you're coming from, but I wholeheartedly disagree with that line of thought. I really enjoy treasure hunting, but I don't engage in cartography. If I want to do cartography at some point it should be because I want to make maps, not because I'm forced to do cartography to keep enjoying treasure hunting to its fullest extent. But it's not just that it would ruin treasure hunting for me personally, but that treasure hunting is a feature that adds to the game the way it is. I'm sure some people feel that way about cartography as well, and enjoy it for the sake of enjoying it. I went over a lot of my reasoning in this post: https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/197248-cartography-with-a-purpose/&do=findComment&comment=1957810 so it'd be a bit redundant to type it all out again.
  19. We're sorry about the inconvenience - We work our times out with the finders, and among the organizers, to try to find a reasonable time. We try to avoid booking a slaying at the same time as another one, to make sure that as many as possible can attend the public slayings. We're doing our best, but we failed to spot that one.
  20. The nodes look horrible sprinkled across the server, seemingly using the defunct rift bump code for distribution. IMO they should at the very least be reconfigured so that they spawn in sets of 5-10 in a 2x2 grid rather than sprinkled all across everywhere. It wouldn't just make sense from an aesthetic perspective, but also make it less of a pain for those who have an active interest in using them. I am very fine with it all being reverted though, and the whole thing just being undone, if too much effort is needed to make it look and feel sensible.
  21. I'd rather see empyrean being removed than inventing ways for it to be useful. It never really made any sense to begin with, and it offers nothing that offsets the sheer inconvenience of gathering enough of it to be usable. And yes: I do realize that there are existing empyrean items that would become defunct, and that not everyone would appreciate them being converted to another metal. I'm simply not a big fan of poorly thought-out features being shoehorned into more areas of the game (especially not when it's the players doing the thinking).
