  2. As one who doesn't post much here, I have been wondering if I should react to this as well. The reason I decided to do so is that right now I've got serious mixed emotions about the intentions of Wurm's owner. The reason: Well, starting with the way this was "brought" to us. A "trailer" that's an outright lie about what Wurm Online is about. Yes, I call that trailer a lie; because it is. It's not just us who's lied to; it's the possible new player base and possible investors. And a "post" that treats the community as a bunch of 5 year olds by presenting them a ###### movie script??? Madnath already pointed it out in his post and I got the same questions. What destiny do we have? What choices would matter? The choice between a willow or an oak to keep the invading bushes from our deeds? The choice to use cobble stone or round cobble stone for a road? Those are choices that may matter for a player; but for the community not so much. So what else would matter? There's no permadeath in this game; you loose some skills; but you get a modifier added to regain them asap if you do loose some. And with help of the community it's possible to get your body and / or the items on it back as well. There are no quests for a player to do; other as the quests the players give them themselves. Sure, we got some boss-like creatures which are brought down by a community effort; but they will respawn and the only "quest" is to find them again. But killing a single dragon, a 100 dragons or a million dragons offers nothing more as fighting skill; skill in your weapon of choice, some blood and some scale / hide. It is however not needed to defeat a dragon or a hatchling or a kyclops or whatever unique you want to progress in this game. NONE! So there's no "destiny" related to that. So what other "destiny" do we have? To become a priest? That's not a destiny, it's a choice. A choice often made by players who'd like to be of value to the community one way or another; just like some players like to grind Weapon Smithing so they can imp weapons to a higher QL. But to call that a destiny, not at all. With that in mind, I once again call this trailer a lie. The reason? Because it has nothing to do with Wurm Online as it was and as it is. Not to mention; it looks as if some parts of Malena's video have been used for it. Just with a different overdub. Which makes me wonder; has she even been asked if it was ok to use parts of her video? But other as that, this trailer looks like a very good one for Valheim. In that game your choices matter and in that game you do have a destiny. In that game, the choice to kill a boss would bring you to a new biome with new materials to craft with, new enemies to deal with, new building options being unlocked, new weapons, armour and food to be crafted and eventually a new boss to kill, so you can move on to the nex biome where you can do a lot again with the new materials, buildings, armour, weapons and anything else you got. And that's the other part of my mixed emotions: Wurm Online IS NOT Valheim and it will never be Valheim. And with this "trailer" being an attempt to give us the idea we're going to have another Valheim I have the feeling the investors are going onto the wrong path. Valheim is "Wurm for those who don't like grinding and want a background story." It's a great game; but it's missing parts of what makes Wurm Online great. Basically (most of) the community. Right now the entire "trailer" gives me the impression the investors want Wurm to turn into Valheim. Probably because Valheim has been a huge sales success on Steam - and probably other platforms as well - and who doesn't want to have "that" game in their ownership. But turning Wurm into something like Valheim is a wrong move and would in fact chase away the core players of this game. You might as well tell us that by the end of 2024 the plug is pulled out of the game, because the effect would be the same. There are plenty of ways to make Wurm Online a great game. Copying one that is very successful at the moment isn't the way. Stick to that idea and it will fail. Listen to the community and Wurm may continue for another 20 years. I know what my choice would be. Now it's up to the investors and CEO to make the right one. Thorin
  3. Iirc that deed is owned by Wurmhole or one of the alts. There should be another tunnel running from Darq Canal to that deed; but the gates to that one may be locked as well. Thorin
  4. Post the same info in a support ticket and a GM will solve it the moment one of them got time for it. Bugs like these happen from time to time and it's still unclear what's causing them. Thorin

  6. Lemme guess..... 🤔 You're 25-and-a-bit y/o? As for myself, Old enough to have watched the first moon landing (from the craddle). Been into games from about 1991. Eventually found Life is Feudal: Your Own, played that with a friend and a friend of his; both invited me to try Wurm for a bit. So I did. Started 7-8 years ago as a citizen at their deed at Xan, founded my own one two weeks later and still have it. Both of then left for different reasons within 2 years after I got in. Not that much into Wurm lately, as last year has been a rough Wurm year for me. Still intending to return some day to finish the work I've started at my second Xan deed. Thorin
  7. Get a horse. Makes it possible to scout Xan in 2.5 years, instead of 5. Edit: get yourself a rowing boat too. Saves you another year. Edit 2: Would be a good idea to equip the toolbelt, having it showing up on screen and put some important items under the numberkeys. Think of water in the waterskin, cotton, farmers salve, your steel and flint. Quick access - especially to healing equipment - to items is important for any toon. Thorin
  8. The irony of the entire situation is that both parties obviously didn't want a public slaying either done with support of or hosted by Stanlee, because "large groups mess up the surroundings". Most likely another thing coming into mind is that the more slayers there are, the less amount of scale the participants in the slaying get. And Dragon Scale armour is still quite expensive, so the more scale you got, the easier it is to get that armour. However - and here comes the ironic part - with Stanlee supporting or organising a slaying, this kind of mess wouldn't have happened in the first place. From what I've seen over the past years when Stanlee organises a slaying, is that the one finding and / or penning the creature usually gets (some of) the more special items a dragon drops. So with that in mind, asking for a more public slaying may have the same benefits. I also know that if a "sudden public slaying" happens because someone runs into an unique, you won't have to deal with "hundreds" of players. The few times I participated in one, there were about a dozen of us. The most. Main reason, those ad-hoc slayings are usually happening within one or two hours after the creature is found. Which is just enough time to get to get some people in; but not an entire server. And certainly not from other servers. Especially not at Xan, where it might take at least an hour in a light breeze to travel from the server border to the center of the island. Summoning might speed the process up; but even then a priest have to be present there. As in regard to this situation; I do see some oddities, but I do keep them to myself. One thing I am willing to share is that it's very likely that both parties have made errors. Which only taught me that in case of uniques it's better to keep the information hidden until the darn thing is penned, or organise an "ad-hoc slaying" to prevent other players killing it before you can.   11. Not long after I started playing this game, a deed neighbouring me dropped. So my friend, who invited me to play Wurm told me we had to wait for at least one of the walls to drop before we could actually access and loot the place, as the only door was locked. Which meant I checked the status of the walls each and every day, tried to figure out when it would actually crumble and giving us access to the contents waiting. So, when that wall eventually broke, I was the only one online, meaning I could enter and loot what I liked. Among most things I found and decided to take with me, was one low ql leather knife with its name written in a light blue-ish letter type. Little did I know by then what it meant; but I did know I didn't need it; while another alliance member living at a neighbouring deed had a leather working character. And since she had build me a knarr, I thought it would be nice to give that knife to her. When I offered her the knife, she asked me a few times if I was certain I'd give it to her, as it was worth a lot more as I thought it was. Eventually - and after I kept incisting, she accepted the knife and not long after that I saw a message pop up in trade chat for an imp and a price check. Two days later, my friend told me that she managed to get both; an imp and a price check. Turned out that low ql - I can't even remember how low, but I think it was in its low 20's - leather knife was worth at least 28 Silver, as it was a supreme item. 😲 Which I had given away for free. Over the years I've found countless rares, a few supremes, but that first one I'll never forget. And even if she doesn't play anymore, I still hope that player got it on one of her characters; as I never found it when her deed dropped. Thorin
  12. Will do that. There are at least 2 towers over there that aren't at the map - yet - so expect a small update. I can't recall if Fluffy Wonders had a tower, don't think it had; although I lived at Weird for a few weeks, but I do remember the one at Weird Wonders was a rare one. I also remember there was at least one tower between the Windspears one and Metallic Wonders, perhaps even more; as well as one or two between Windspears and the Ageless Lake Tunnel; the one bearing my name not included. Looks like I got some riding to do the upcoming week. Thorin

I got a deed nearby, so I will check for the right position in the weekend or next week. Perhaps it's a good idea to remove the tower from the map until then? I will also list the exact name of the tower at Metallic Wonders and the unknown one a bit south of it. IIRC that last one was build by the same person who build the colossus there (if that's even there). Thorin

  21. The ingame account you are looking for is PaulofDune. Dunno if that one's still active but worth a try. As for restoring that deed, please don't turn it into a new "Laghollow" again. I've seen enough complaints about it in the past 6-7 years to last a lifetime. Thorin

There used to be a time when the owners of the deeds helping out new players were doing recruitment posts or posting the link to their forum recruitment thread at the Freedom channel of their own server. And occasonally at GL as well. That kinda stopped at some point when some of those deed owners at Xan posted about their "better" starter's deed the moment another player brought up their recruitment; sort of starting a "recruitement war". It kinda ended when several new players asked for a trip to other servers, because they could decide where to join a starter's deed in peace. So in general that option is still there, although I don't know how many and which starter's deeds are still present at Xan or SFI in general. But perhaps it's a good time for one of the Forum mods to look into all those old recruitement posts and simply close those which are over 6 months old as it can be assumed those deeds are inactive anyway. (Not that they got nothing to do, but..... ) Thorin

    The lake around EFG-18 / H19 was called Ageless Lake when I started playing around 6 years ago. Hence the "Ageless Tunnel" at E-20. Thorin
