  1. I think the idea to treat it like epic would be a great way to help players. I am like many and have an attachment to my original character. We could treat the new servers like a new adventure for them and they would have to start over in this new land. We did it for Jackel and other places, why not here. This way the change may not be so hard on a lot of the players since they can take their original characters and visit the new lands.
  2. well that really has no bearing on the concrete issue. I still think changing the concrete to say -35 or -40 would be best for all then people have more options. Who knows it might help the economy some as well.
  3. I don't see why the dev's complained that the player gods made the old gods watered down and that it is time to return to the lore of the old god. What lore? There really isn't a story or lore in the game, unless you hunt in the forum for it and let face it people are not going to go do that really. Now if there were quests or stuff that told the story in the game, then the switch would make more sense, but there isn't any of that either so I don't see what "lore" the dev's would be wanting to get back to honestly. May be someone can enlighten us since the game has had a lot of features that seem to be slated to be taken out that have been here since the start of the game and are now (over 12yr later) being addressed. I mean shouldn't these have already been addressed if they needed to be fixed unless no one really knows how they actually want the game to function. It sounds like the dev's tried to placated too many players that are not here any more and are now doing the changes since the players are gone. I think they are trying to fix it all and hope the new Steam release will get the player base they want since all the new changes may kill the existing player base for the most part. After all those on Steam will play the game and many may not even be aware of the baggage that came with the game that existing player know about. Basically it feels like they are trying to make the Steam release a "clean slate" and not caring to much about the existing player base. I mean how long have we been gripping about concrete and that still didn't get fixed and chicken coops where ask for for more than 4 yrs and finally got that done but have to have a Carpentry skill of 60 to be made, I mean really 60! I could go on but it seems like the dev's are preparing for the Steam release and not caring to much about the existing players, it almost seems like they are hoping to replace them with Steam people and try to restart the game like a new Grand Opening. I feel like the Wurm Online now was just over 12yrs of testing for the game they actually want to release on Steam. Will we face the same fate as WU, where it will end up becoming to much to keep the original WO and Steam updated at the same time and so they will just go with the new and shiny compared to the old and broken? I was thinking about going to try the Steam stuff but now I am not so sure.
  4. Congrats Wulfgar and welcome to the team. So about that concrete.....it would count as a quality of life fix if we could get it to -35 or -40 instead of -25. I know it has been one of those things that a lot of players have complained about but lived with since it did not seem to be important to the devs. Do you think we may be able to fix this or add something that can help people with deed projects that are below -25? All it would mean is finding the class/program in the overall programming (unless it is indexed) and changing the variables to go to -35 or -40 instead of -25.
  5. So only 3 more days till Christmas, does anyone else have any ideas? I know they probably won't happen this year but they could be ideas for next year as well. Post what you think or hope for as a Christmas present.
  6. I would be willing to give up on this idea if they would just change the values for concrete, I know I am not the only one who thinks this needs to be done. As a programmer, it would be easy to change the values of concrete and then people would have more options for doing their deeds. I know from reading in the forums that I am not the only one who has ran into this problem and would love to see it fixed so I could do more with my deed. Also I don't want to move because I love where my deed is and I like the people around me, if I moved then I would not be around my "community".
  7. Can you please tell use if this is even a though by the devs since it has been a long time irritant for a lot of players. I mean the game is losing players, maybe little things like this would help keep players. I would give people more options on where to settle and how they want their deed to be. Which would be good for devs since it would mean new deeds with upkeep. Also it could help the economy since people would e buying more concrete from others. Honestly I don't really see a downside for use on Freedom. As a programmer myself, changing the values for concrete would not be that hard, the longest would be going back in the programming to find it so you could change it and that's if it's not indexed.
  8. I agree with @Madnathand @Arishok, if they gave some spells like bless to everyone, then I am good with that and they can keep everything else for the priests. They could make it to where you use karma for these types of spells, then people would be more interested in the "Quests" they have going in the game so they could get the karma. When I was saying earlier to let everyone be priests (I wasn't saying give it to them for free after all that is not the Wurm way and I don't want to see it given for free either) they would have to work for it just like everyone else but at least give them the option or give the option to imp stuff with the priests. You may be surprised that not many people will go priest since they would have to work really hard to do it but it would still be there if they wanted to try it. You can keep the penalties like can't mine and such, that would still make it hard to do priest especially for those who want to complete everything (like me). I am just trying to give some options that might help get more people to play the game since I really like it and want to see other enjoy it as well. I have other ideas that may appeal to other players, but Wurm is a very niche game so not sure how well they would be received by the community. I will post those in another post in the forum and people can check them out if they want.
  9. Honestly WO may have been a game where it tried to do team work with the rifts and such but in large it doesn't seem like a game that wanted people to go out together an do many thing. I played other MMO's like EverQuest, EverQuest II, and Final Fantasy, those where MMO's that you needed other people in order to play the game to the fullest. WO is not like that and lets face it, when you log on to WO and only see about 7 people online for the whole server (like Exodus), community play just isn't vary viable. I am not saying it isn't there its just not what others would call an MMO play style. I think it is more of a single player with MMO aspects like other people on the server in case you want to go see what others are doing or maybe going and helping a neighbor with some terraforming. Honestly I think opening up priest to everyone would be a good idea, that or rework the magic system to actually include Sorcerers and give them some of the Priest spells. Some of those spells I though never made any sense for priests to have but would have made a lot of sense for a Sorcerer. Lets face it, if the Steam release tanks and we don't get a lot of new players, the community on the game may shrink even more. Also with the WO team slowing down updates for the WU side of things and instead opening it up for modders, we may see even less people than we do now.
  10. Any new ideas on what you want to see as a Christmas gift this year? I am still hoping for either the restriction on concrete to go to -40 or a wand to raise rock up to at least the -25 mark so concrete can then be used, I would be happy even with that.
  11. I still think it would be a good idea since there are other people besides me who seem to be having the same problem since concrete can't go past -25. A lot of people can't do some of the projects on their deeds because of the concrete restriction, either make concrete go to -40 or give out wands that work to bring the rock up to -25 so concrete can be used. Heck if the wand only worked to bring rock up to the -25 mark so people could then use concrete that would be a good compromise as well. Also the level 7 path of power ability would destroy any resources that were in the rock if used so for some that would defeat the purpose of trying to raise the rock.
  12. That sounds like a great idea and doesn't sound to hard to make possible. I wonder if someone could make a mod and try it on WU to see if it works and if it does then just add the mod code to the game.
