  1. Nathan page updated! Still looking for a screenshot of the spell list from an altar of someone with higher faith than 30. Also, anyone on Freedom with a Nathan follower or priest?
  2. What you're missing is that there are a LOT of people in Wurm. There are a LOT of players, like me, that understand the features - mostly because I've spent countless hours reading the Wiki as a newbie - and we don't see the same problems. We see people who didn't read, or didn't know or understand. I can also tell you from reading these forums that it's really the same people that comment about all of these "issues". If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say maybe two dozen people, max? Last night there was nearly 1200 people in Wurm. The numbers really don't add up to a massive problem. It's just a popular problem and being commented on by some of the most vocal people on the forum. If you were to go by what you read here, everyone is getting griefed, stolen from, scammed, or some other horrible thing. If you go by the actual numbers, it's a far smaller percentage. That's why threats to take your subscription and that everyone's going to leave really don't say much as there are more people like me that won't be going anywhere on account of a little theft or griefing. Do you see what I'm saying?
  3. Thank you! Wiki updated: http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Nathan#Spells
  4. I would be completely for beefing up PvE templars. Isn't there already a difficulty difference between PvP and PvE templars? I'm not sure about tower guards though.
  5. Yes, but we cooperate in killing each other. You forget that point.
  6. In another thread, I mentioned something entirely different. Salvaging is not a PvP feature - but it is a PvE feature. People actually make a living off of cleaning up old and abandoned deeds. Your suggestion would be to remove that as well, sadly. How do you do both? Do you just make everything the way a locked BSB is now - simply bash/decay away along with all that is inside? Shouldn't that hard work be recovered by people still active in the game and reused? Like I said, it isn't a PvE/PvP problem until players make it one with their comments and mindset. If PvP were to be split, you would still have people that don't like to play nice and you would still have loopholes people would find. Ask ANYONE from any other MMO that has had a guild bank emptied or had loaned their account to a trusted person, only to find it stripped naked and everything sold for whatever the person could get. It's not a PVP issue. I can't stress it enough - I've been the "victim" of and I've seen enough "victims" of "PvE" players doing not so friendly things. In some cases they didn't even use the "PvP" mechanics, as you're implying. I digress though, and I fear that my words aren't really sinking in. I think it's about time I take a step back from these threads as I don't feel further replies and restated points will do much good.
  7. I obviously can't comment on the griefing. I'm merely a purveyor of information (often information provided by other people). As for the protection provided by Freedom - you don't really see exactly what that protection is until you've gone to Chaos or Epic. I can right-click > steal things as long as they aren't stored in a kingdom structure I don't have permissions on. (And if I had permissions, I wouldn't need to steal). The protections are basically this: You cannot steal any items owned by another via right-click steal. You cannot catapult walls of a structure that does not belong to you or exist on your deed. You cannot drain a token of upkeep. You cannot attack a player without consent (duel/spar) You cannot pick locks that do not belong to you. You cannot commandeer a vehicle that doesn't belong to you. That's about it. If you don't use permissions properly - on either side of the ocean - you're in for trouble. Any idea how many times people have managed to gain access to things on Chaos just because they were added to friends and then defected? Or a spy all along? Yes, the difference is - with numbers and work - we can kill them and take back the loot (unless it's ferried to Freedom and sold, which does happen quite a bit and is unfortunate.)
  8. This is not how this works... it's not how any of this works... The ability to cross PvE/PvP has absolutely nothing to do with someone slaughtering horses on PvE. Someone with decent gear and a free alt could do the same thing, except then you wouldn't know who had done it. It'd just be an alt, right? The "coward" would be back on their main on PvP, if we go by what you suggest. These actions are also not isolated to PvPers, and the fact that he is associated with Chaos is rather unfortunate. In the not-so-distant past on Deli, we had a group of people who would somehow break fences (back when it was illegal to bash enclosures) just to get at the horses inside. They'd steal what they could and kill the rest. Maybe 2 years ago? They weren't from PvP at all. I'm honestly getting tired of seeing all of this PvP hate when that isn't the problem. The problem is this: How could LorraineJ have better protected her animals? As she said, the settings were as such to give neighbors easier access to a resource. This is something I'd be grateful for if I had a deed there. Permissions as they are didn't allow her to disable killing animals on her deed though - not without branding them all and making them "citizens". This is confusing, and I had no idea until reading this thread. No, it's not her fault that the horses died. That obviously lays at the feet of the person who did the killing. However, the energy wasted on pointing the blame at a whole group of players that normally help and contribute to both Freedom and Chaos isn't getting anyone anywhere. It isn't putting suggestions on the board to better manage things, and it isn't encouraging any sort of constructive feedback what so ever.
  9. The loading screen is not the official rules. They can be found here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/123123-wurm-rules/ The GMs do uphold the rules as stated in that post. As for the mention on the loading screen, this is regarding the Right Click > Steal option, which is disallowed by code on Freedom.
  10. I pose another question: What is the difference between salvaging and stealing? There's a whole sub-culture on Freedom of people who go around to disbanded deeds and "clean up the mess". I'm not talking about the moral differences - that is, a player choosing to wait so many days, perhaps even PMing the owner before taking action. I mean in the eyes of the code. What I'm driving at is that by adding in more restrictions, we'll end up with more dead places full of junk just waiting for people to come back to who may never actually come back. It's bad enough that, as I said in a few other posts, I have two carts just outside my deed that I have to look at every day because they're locked and too heavy to drag. There used to be three, but one owner did come back - and he basically said he didn't want it anymore. Thankfully he signed it over to me and I gained a cart. Hooray! The way things are now do work if people use them correctly. If someone you thought was a friend wrongs you, then be more selective next time. That was a lesson I learned when I found that a trusted neighbor decided to catapult my buildings to loot my items and steal my horses before my deed disbanded. He had every means to communicate with me and didn't. So do you think I put that kind of trust in just a neighbor anymore? Or better, do you think that my most valued items ever leave my inventory except for in a locked cart or boat on Freedom? We don't need more rules, and we don't need more restrictions. The news announced a new system in the works, so let's just see where that takes us first? About the only fix I'd push for is a category of "friends" that don't get access when "friends" is checked. I would love to see some sort of justice system though... but just how would that work? Accused by a player, and there's potential for more abuse. Accused by code, and someone will undoubtedly find a way around it. Judged by players, even more potential for abuse. Judged by GM? Then what's the point?
  11. Yeah, I was exhausted last night and realized Landing would be a bad idea. Still - I have screen shots of Outside and Start spawning me at some weird rainbow light pillar thing. It looked like the black light particles, but with rainbows swirling about. If they aren't supposed to work - remove them.
  12. I don't mean to be rude, but after the first theft and taking care to keep the cart in your house - why did you not put a lock on it as well back then? That's what was said from the start in the other thread where I think this was brought up. The Wurmpedia has mentioned the need for a lock to activate the permissions of a cart for many years now. I had started three years ago, and it was one of the first things I had learned: Put a lock on everything. Boats, carts, gates - even on deed. The only thing Freedom gives you is that you don't have to care about the quality of said lock. As for those names, are they always in your local? Neighbors? Put them on your deed' KoS list to start and see if you can figure out what deed they belong to. If you can, bring up their actions to that mayor or the alliance that deed belongs to. Failing that, let their names stay in this post as a warning to others. Edited: Another thing often forgotten are door locks.
  13. I was wondering when this would make its way to the forums. As Redd said, our kingdom does not condone his actions. I was actually in voice chat at the time. The only laughing that was done was when he was being attacked by templars from deeds that KoS'd him. We actually asked him to use that energy over here, where his actions could actually be put to use. This has nothing to do with the old and tired PvP vs PvE debate. What he did to your deed gained us nothing, and has only succeeded in creating a PR nightmare. I would take Redd up on his offer. As for if this is legal or not, I feel that it should be brought up to higher authority than us here on the thread so far. I'm always a bit torn about these things as I hate the "softening" of a game by way of adding restrictions and removing consequences. On the other hand, as pointed out in other threads, there are no consequences available for the doers of these actions. KoS does little to nothing. The only outlet people on Freedom have is a forum post and a shaming, which does a fat load of good really.
  14. Still broken. You get three options: PMK Capitol, Outside PMK Capitol, and "Start". So far "Outside" and "Start" put you in some weird limbo state where you can't move, can't do anything. Relogging doesn't fix it. I had assumed "Start" would put me at Landing, which is where I had "started" originally.
  15. So when you have 100+ gates, the Manage Gates menu prompts you for 0-99 or 100-199. I apparently have just enough gates that one doesn't appear on either selection. 100-199 shows blank.
  16. These older player guides are not updated by the Wurmpedia Staff. These images were not hosted on the Wiki itself, so we have no control over what happens to them. This is also why we are asking that new guides be posted here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/forum/86-game-guides/ All official media on the wiki is uploaded and hosted by the wiki. It would be up to the player that made this guide to make these images available once more.
  17. http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Long_spear Updated! Thank you again Dasfry!
  18. We got started polluting that harbor preeeetty early, eh? The fish were well caffeinated that day.
  19. I noticed this about two weeks ago as well. For me, the horse was outside and I was two floors above. It was a "donut" style house in my case.
  20. Oh please! I'm sure Her Majesty has been quite thankful that we quit being her kingdom's problem all them centuries ago. Especially these days.
  21. Page has been updated with a note about the skill numbers: http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Bridges#Skill_Requirements As the equation to sort out more exact numbers is not publicly known, the numbers listed should be considered rough estimates. Thank you Alectrys!
  22. I'm not sure what Chaos was like a year ago, I wasn't very active then. Today, all kingdoms have a level of paranoia about them. If you relax that paranoia, you wind up with spies and leaked information. Meta-gaming (using spies, access to other characters, etc) has been happening for quite some time across ALL kingdoms, regardless of personal feelings towards the practice. Voice chat has become quite mandatory in some areas, and reluctance to use it is often a sign of something being wrong. Sure, there are other reasons to not use voice chat or to not speak in voice chat, but being on a chat server helps to calm nerves. This is what Chaos is today.
  23. Updated the page again. I can't verify protection offered by moon metal yet, but from what you've tested, I'd have to assume it won't matter. Thanks for all the info!
