  1. Added Black Sheep / Rams / Lambs. Can Milk (female) sheep now – and make feta cheese from that. Can Milk (female) Bison now – and make Buffalo cheese from that. Wurmpedia updated Request: Both new cheeses need descriptions, check for weights, and to check and see if the images are the same as the regular cheese. I went with what was already there for cheese as a template.
  2. I went ahead and moved the file you uploaded, renaming it from the generic name to http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/File:Seryll_candelabra.jpg Just as a reminder for anyone wishing to have images added to the Wiki, it's preferable to crop your images as much as possible without cutting out the subject of the picture and to use the JPEG format. This helps reduce the overall size of the images, which means less disk space to host and less bandwidth to serve. If this image is edited and cropped, keep in mind that images are cached and may not show immediately, even with a hard refresh from your own browser. I also think it could be added to the Candelabra page if you wish, as other pages have alternate material images. Use a page such as http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Chain_barding as an example for a good way to do this.
  3. I am not condoning any actions here, but I see misinformation to correct. While you do not get Fighting gains off of named animals, you do get other related skill gains such as weapon use.
  4. Yeah, I think captures the important points. The idea is to give an overview. It's for when a new player goes "Hey! I want to skill body control. How can I do this?" - They get the general idea and can get deeper as they go. Honestly the whole Fighting page needs a bit of an overhaul to bring it up to the standard we've been using for other Main Page links. (It's linked as Combat on the main page) If anyone else can take a quick look through and point anything else out, it would be much appreciated. I might try to tackle that page in the next few days.
  5. So how does this look? Body control - Helps with accuracy, dodging, and stealthing. Archery, leatherworking, smithing, carpentry and sub skills of these such as fletching offer good skill gains. Some weapon use skills also offer stat gains when used for various actions.
  6. Yeah, after talking with Wulfgarr, I think the body control comes from the weapon use skill gains, not directly from the woodcutting itself. Skills like fletching give body control directly, if I'm not mistaken. I also noticed that when you use a carving knife to do your improving, you gain more - but that could have been coincidence?
  7. Has this been tested on Chaos as well as Freedom and Epic? The rules may be different, as they are with some other skills and stats.
  8. They are two different objects in-game and we wouldn't gain much by merging them. You have brought some missing information to my attention though, and I'll be adding some info to openings shortly regarding their use to climb and haul items between floors. Thank you for your feedback!
  9. That would be part of the reason as to why I made my post in general. Truly though, the information is there already. I don't see how confirming another phrase "spoils" anything. You're also not forced to look things up on the wiki, it's a choice you make. You're already choosing to be "spoiled" by seeking out your answers instead of sorting them out for yourself. All we are doing is making sure the answers are there and accurate for when someone does seek them.
  10. I have heard that "far away" is possibly 1,000 - 2,000, and "very far away" is 2,000+. I would appreciate help in testing this out if anyone is able to, otherwise I will do so when I am able to. For now I am putting a note on the Talk page until I can confirm the results. Thank you!
  11. You may want to hit F1, type "dump skills" and either post it here or upload it to Niarja. If I can be brutally honest, I don't even think this account is worth 40s/e. Your channeling skill is so low that it wouldn't even function well for a battery, and your faith level and digging are all that this account has going for it from what I can see. Sadly, without channeling, this account really isn't much of a priest. Faith is fairly easy to grind these days, especially with all of the sermon groups you can find. Does it still have a referral? As Emoo asked, any meditation path/level? Any items that are coming with it? I've seen accounts with higher body and crafting skills go for 50-60s. -- Edit: You should also consider what someone gets for just putting premium (10e) on a new account: 30 days premium 1 sleep powder 3 silver + Referral which can be sold for ~6s, or used.
  12. http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Dioptra#Usage Updated! Thank you for the catch! I pretty much copied your post as it was, rewording one bit (though I know you worded it based upon what the event message is) and added a note from my own sad experience.
  13. Free to Play characters are able to mount and ride cows already, actually. I can't do anything about the chariot or lightning though.
  14. I would have to say that any guides involving specifics on how to fine tune your farming yield would belong in the Game Guide section of the forum. As for the information on the wiki, Slickshot is correct. We will update based upon fact presented. There is note in that section as well indicating that it is outdated. I would also like to remind everyone that this section of the forum where the post now resides is heavily moderated. If you have concerns regarding editing or moderation, you may send a forum message to Wurmpedia Manager Marni (bwg on the forums) with your concern.
  15. I believe the issue is with how OpenAL and Windows interacts. I've found that games that use DirectX play more nicely when you switch audio devices, where as OpenAL applications do not. That likely has to do with OpenAL being more cross-platform than DirectX, thus it doesn't use Windows-specific hardware abstraction. The same is likely true for other applications that either directly interface with the audio device or use some other audio library. The magic in the ability to switch your audio input and output at will is something called the Hardware Abstraction Layer, and that's OS-specific. I could be totally wrong, but it makes sense to my sleep-deprived 5am brain.
  16. Ah, perhaps I misunderstood. Is it a full 1 unit, 20kg worth of dirt?
  17. Technically, you can reduce the weight of dirt as BSBs take a percentage of their contents every 30 days. When that percentage isn't a whole amount, the remainder is left which then leaves you with a partial item. Before, that remainder was lost to you. Now you can combine it with the remainders from other BSBs to recover what you would have lost prior. Edit: To be more accurate and clear... Before: You have 150 dirt in your BSB. After 30 days, 5% of that is lost, leaving 142.5 dirt. If you withdrew 142 dirt, the .5 would be lost to you and the BSB would then be empty. Now: Consider the same amounts as above. Now when you withdraw the 142 dirt, you'll still see (1x) in the BSB, but it will only be 10kg worth of dirt. This change went in a few weeks ago, but you automatically took out all of the whole units and the remainder as well. This new change just means that the remainder stays in the BSB until you drag it out as well. You can then drag it into another BSB with other partial amounts until you have a whole, usable amount.
  18. I've been on Windows 10 for months now, and yes - it doesn't like to install the right drivers. It also depends highly on your graphics card. Microsoft didn't put a whole lot of effort in supporting older cards, they wanted to make sure support for the new DirectX was tight. My 550 Ti wasn't even officially supported the last I looked, and I had to take a chance on the driver. I know the latest driver by nVidia didn't work and I had to take a previous version. I haven't tried again as I'm thinking about going back to Ubuntu anyway.
  19. Clearly you all have missed the sheer importance of this. This is the one thing the entire PvP community is united on. It's the crux, the fulcrum. All rests on this. If the change is implemented, what else do we have? WHAT ELSE? When everything else is dead and gone, when the ashes take to the wind as the last charred remains of the world fall... we will still have this to hold us together. Edit: Can't I just make ONE post without a typo?
  20. withdrawn

That's worth maybe 40e? Ah well.
  21. This document is not dated, nor is there an author mentioned. What do you mean by posting it? If it is yours, you will need to update the bit about branding. As I mentioned, Attack Citizens has nothing to do with branding (tested with both citizens and non-citizens attacking branded and non-branded animals). If it's branded, regardless of your settings, a non-citizen can not kill it. A citizen can, which should underscore the importance of knowing who you can trust. Correcting that, it would be a good addition to the Game Guides section of the forum.
  22. This was a topic specifically about the rumors around branding and deed permissions. As it is now currently well known that you are able to "jump" into an enclosure (and get yourself stuck usually), it should be considered in one's design. Either way, this thread isn't here to debate that as it's been already well discussed elsewhere. That said, branding animals will protect against this. Once in, the would-be villain wouldn't be able to do much of anything as targeting a branded animal will result in "That is illegal." and if you have your lead permissions properly managed, they wouldn't be able to lead or ride them either. I didn't cover aggressive animals because I didn't have access to any on Test at the time. Also I feel this is more advanced and is a risk that you take on your own. My goal was to clarify the settings and features available to protect mounts and livestock only. I will say that judging from what I observed on one of the unique slayings recently, Attack Non-citizens does protect aggressive creatures. Meaning that while you can be targeted and attacked, you cannot fight back. Since I didn't test this myself and see exactly how the permissions react, I didn't include it. I should also note that I did not test doing actions from off-deed, such as using archery and other ranged weapons. Sorry, edit here: Enclosures are not a viable solution to ensure the safety of your animals. Sure, they seem safe enough, but the fences can be bashed by trolls easily enough - even on deed. Using a gatehouse instead of a gate only gives you more control on who you allow into the enclosure, not more security over the animals in general. I've also had animals bug out and wind up going through my fences before, in which case a brand on them ensures that if found, people know who it belongs to and then I can collect it. Without it, it's as good as gone. The main example I was considering when I did my testing was the incident where a player on Deliverance had her entire herd killed by someone because she had allowed people access through her fence gates in order to access a resource more easily. I wanted to see if there was a way to prevent that mass slaughtering without erecting the highest walls ever seen and building an fortress to lock everyone out. In the wake of that incident, many speculations came about on how she could have done things differently and I wanted to make sure that they were tested to post which ones were found to actually be true. In this way my hope is that anyone who reads this or passes this information along can prevent another person from suffering a loss such as that.
