  1. I'm wondering about setting up a personal merchant, but I'm not sure if it would ever be of use. I'll set one up regardless, but I am curious about what type of goods to sell, and any other information that might help, such as what types of goods can be sold, how many goods they can hold and so on. Thanks.
  2. The earth feels real. The smell of earth after rain, smells real. The cotton seeds go into the black dirt easily, and with care and hard work, the shrubby plant grows up healthily, changing from seed to plant. Picking the cotton is its own back breaking labor, hours bent over in the heat of the day. From the field the cotton goes to be changed on the spindles, spun into cord and strings. And again the cotton is changed via the hands on the loom, shuttling back and forth, weaving the weft, changing the cotton, creating the cloth that we wear to create our appearance. Hard at work hearing the voices of others talking of dragons and precious treasures, as if they were magical. But nothing is more magical than making. Listening to voices talking as they are walking, dressed in clothes that were grown from seeds in the ground. By a cotton farmer's dirty hands. Making something from nothing is the real reality, the real magic.
  3. I required clay, having vastly underestimated how much I needed to daub the walls of my house. From Silver Glass the run to the clay beach is down to Glass Hollow then turn left and go straight on until the ocean. Being a pleasant enough day, apart from a few sun showers, I thought it was time to hitch up the wagon and make for the coast. The beasts of burden put up their usual grumbles but a bit of grooming and some choice grasses settled their complaints. Normally the road is fraught with peril. Beasts such as trolls, or wild animals such as mountain lions and wolves live all along the way. Today however was the exception, nothing but clear skies and roads and some smiling villagers as we drove the way. The final approach to the beach is quite steep, but I've not yet lost a cart over the side of the road. Not yet. Finally we drove off the cobblestones onto the beach sand, not really a beach you would holiday at, but for clay miners it's heaven. Happily I jumped off and grabbed my shovel. The hellhound attacked, and with a few bites killed one of the bulls pulling my cart. Battlecries and blood ensued, all the blood mine, finally I bravely fled, my cart horse gamely pulling for all her strength we slowly inched away from the hellhound snapping at our heels. I was hoarse from yelling for assistance, and finally a guard put down his doughnut and fought the hellhound. Unluckily he died. Luckily he let me and my cart horse get far enough away to breathe a sigh of relief. It was then I noticed I couldn't see because of the blood streaming down my face. I had also forgotten medical supplies. I decided to wait and hope my health returned with rest. I was mistaken to do that. My health kept declining. I decided on chancing the long run home. Painfully climbing on my cart I gave the command to go home and inching slowly along my cart horse headed for home. Each cobblestone jolted, and my health kept worsening. I lay in the cart and watched the sky and hoped not to die. With great luck my horse found its way home and I staggered into my house and hurled open the chest looking for bandages. I found some cotton and energetically squashed it onto my wounds hoping something good would happen, over twenty times I tried, and my vision was fading fast. I was prepared to breath my last, when one of the bandages cleared my head wound slightly. Inspired I remembered some farmer's ointment I'd made, and emptied a bottle over myself. It did nothing. And then I felt the pain again, and my health took another large hit, my vision clouded red. I thought I was dead. At that moment I saw a passing cleric of Fo, I rushed outside and he agreed to aid me, but we had to be beyond the town limits, I did not think I would last that journey so little health remained to me, every second meant another blow to my health. We made it. The priest of Fo said the words and said them again, and again and a little bit more, and I was finally healed. I was quite happy to be alive and profusely thanked this random stranger. We parted ways, and I skipped inside to put my cotton back in the chest. On opening the chest, I noticed the huge mound of clay I had forgotten about.
  4. I got a seryl lump for subscribing in time. No skills nor idea of what to do with it because I am new here. However the idea of the gifts is fascinating. It's marketing but let's ignore that and have a think about the ramifications. When I was a child and say for instance a sister wanted a particular doll. We all got the same doll, to avoid complaints. Which is partly what we see here, we suffer by comparison to the luck of others, so we talk about our disappointments. However if we all got exactly the same reward, then the value of that reward would diminish. If we all got 10 silver, then the value of silver would be less. Or if we all had heroic statues they would be devalued. The intent of the gifts is to celebrate a milestone, perhaps give some people incentive to pay money, by, in essence, relying on a gambling mechanic. Everyone gets the thrill of the unknown when they open their gift box, and sadly somebody has to get the gift of ties and socks. The extra gifts for returning players essentially rewards disloyalty. A disloyal customer needs more rewards to undertake action, much like swinging voters get more rewards promised to them at election times. There are two different issues going on. And thankfully I don't have to find the best solution, but it's interesting to think about the problems. Happy Birthday Wurmians.

  7. Good news. GM Idunn has fixed the problems, even though the cause remains unknown. For now I have to play as Fargristi and will change the name in a couple of days. I'm somewhere near Glasshollow at the moment, learning the commands mainly. The really good news is that I've only died twice; a fall and a wolf. Thanks everyone.

  11. Thanks Wurmhole, I only have gmail accounts, they work for the forums so should work for the game. Even if I did start another email account, I won't, but if I did, then the account name would still be locked for two days and I would have to choose another player account name? Had some issues replying to this forum post because I was getting a message saying this forum account wasn't associated with any account. But now this forum account is working again, perhaps the registration process is progressing? My guess is that this issue stops new players and probably needs streamlining. Thanks all.
  12. Hi Wurmies, I downloaded the game last night and sent a registration in, over an hour ago, with no reply. So at this stage I cannot play. Registering for these forums was easy, and I got the registration reply for the forums almost instantly. But not the game. I read that if the game registration email did not reply in an hour, then to contact a GM. But there was no description of how to contact a GM. Hence my registration on these forums, so I could ask for assistance. Thanks, Fargrist
