  1. I've been asking for something like this for a long time. Wurm Unlimited is possible to play single player, but it's just downright boring being on your own. Even on servers players tend to go off and do their own thing, NPC's that do nothing but mill around the settlement would make it a bit more interesting and also make it worth building a settlement that is more than a house for yourself and maybe a workshop as well. Creating a small village or even a town would be worth doing if it wasn't just a ghost town.

  2. I'd like some way to stand in the centre of 9 farm tiles and farm all 9 of them each time the plants grow like an AOE farming bot. I've been doing it manually on a server that has fast growing times but it still seems like I'm having to wait forever between growth spurts (it's about 20 minutes but seems like a LOT longer if you're doing nothg but standing there waiting). I want to get the best harvest so I can move on to other things without having to worry about growing food and having to head back to my farm plot to tend it every time.

  3. I have a balcony with a railing around it but the roof beside it clips into the railing.

    B2FDC35177C9CD7294E05D3233B3B848D02F116C

Similarly, the roof clips inside the wall too.

    D5954B190AB4DE410CE20708104E3E6ECEAA60CD

It would be nice to have a roof that leans 45 degrees to the wall in these places with a triangular end piece instead of a sloped one.

And yes, F12 is also set to quit as a default keybind but it is used by Steam to take screenshots.

  4. I only have the Windows firewall on Windows 7 Pro. - Any special settings this may require?

It is happening on every server I've tried so it's not server related.

What about ports on the router, any that may need forwarding?

What gets me is that I was playing fine with no problems at all before. Then I stopped playing for about a year and the game was never deleted or reinstalled during that time, only updated with the recent updates we've had. Since then, it's been playing up rotten.

  5. Somebody moved from the bugs forum to here it so I assume they knew it was a client issue that I could fix. In that case, maybe it would have been nice to offer a solution because I still have the problem and it's made the game unplayable.

Being kicked every few minutes or so is't my idea of fun. Since it was moved here, there have been no suggestions as to how it can be fixed from anyone.

On the basis that nobody seems to know what the problem is, I'd assume it's not anything that I could fix, which makes it a bug that only the devs can fix.

    I have tried:

Increasing the MaxHeapSize to 8192 since I have 32gb to play with.

Re-downloading the entire game and playing it with no mods.

Launching it from the Wurmlauncher EXE instead of via Steam.

The most recent log file: Was a short session to do a couple of jobs before heading off to bed. Half an hour later, I got kicked and this time, it relogged automatically but I often get the Duplicate Authentication error because it has not cleared my last session from the server before trying to log me back in. I have no doubt this is also putting unnecessary strain on the server which is constantly having to log me back in.

  6. Every few minutes, EVERY server I have tried (I presume it's the server but could be Steam) is kicking me off and then reconnects straight away. It's annoying because it appears to lose connection to the server for a while so, if I am moving, I do not log back in where I appeared to get kicked. Even more annoying when I am imping because I may have several windows open that all close when it logs back in. Also, whatever order I placed my tools in the inventory to access them easily are now scattered.

One server kicks me and I get the duplicate authentication error which closes the game down completely. That means re-launching the game to log back in.

This bug seems to have appeared ever since the ban by Steam ID was added to the game. Not sure if Steam is requiring constant updates but it seems either Steam isn't responding well enough or there's a bug in the way that the game interacts with Steam.

The last and probably most pertinent part of the client log file:

You can see from the above that it DC'd once and sucessfully reconnected. The second time it threw up a duplicate authentication error. This is a daytime session but I am normally online during the night.

It's getting so bad now that the game is unplayable. Usually happens when I am doing something like levelling or bashing that doesn't need my constant input or maybe if I've stood still for too long while I was out having a cigarette. The line in red seems to be consistent with every shutdown but why is Ocrea.jar in use, it's a custom map on the server I regularly go on but it also happens on servers with standard adventure maps too.

    According to the properties:

    Map_Ocrea.jar

    Created: 4th March 2019 19:46:23

    Modified 20th March 2019 00:44:17

    Accessed 20th March 2019 00:44:16

    Map_Ocrea   (no extension)

    Created 20th March 2019 10:27:07

    Modified 20th March 2019 02:42:25

    Accessed 20th March 2019 02:42:25

As it is the 20th March today and my last CTD after a DC was at 02:44 The error line in the log shows:

[02:42:25 AM] SEVERE org.gotti.wurmonline.clientmods.serverpacks.ServerPacksMod: packs\map_Ocrea.jar: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

It seems to be using Map_Ocrea with no extension (according to the last accessed time) which I presume is the custom map for this server. Why then would it need to access Map_Ocrea.jar at all? Indeed is has not been accessed since 00:44:16 but I have had several DC's between then and now and the game was running already for 2 hours prior to the last DC.

This is why I put it in the bugs section as it appears to be the client code reading the Map_Ocrea.jar file to check the map against the one the  server is using, then keeping it open which then throws up an error when it tries to read it again. Why it is necessary for it to keep reading this file again once connected to the server and the custom map is downloaded to my PC is anyone's guess.

  7. Yes, the helper mod is just a bot, similar to a macro system but requires your character to do it.

I'd like someone to tend the field with a rake from a storage bin when it needs doing while I am off doing some other job and so on.

Or maybe do the boring (and often dangeous job of creating a 1 tile wide road or 2 tile wide highway), given a bulk bin full of bricks to do it of course since I don't expect the mats to be magicked out of thin air.

Flag field tiles for them to tend. When the crop grows and needs tending, they move into action, otherwise they stand inside the field area and just wait.

Flagging the tiles for the road worker to act on, (you can do this on horseback), so you actually have to travel the route yourself for the road to mark each tile with a small red flag which they then follow. They level the furthest border and lower/raise the incline if it exceeds 20.

As for payment, I'd say that could be an option for the mod so you can reduce it by percentage or even turn it off if you prefer. If you're already supplying the mats and tools for the job, it would be extortion to expect to much in payment for it, you're only paying for the labour. A message that X has been removed from your bank account is displayed to show that they have completed the work and have been paid.

  8. Has anyone managed to mod some workers? I heard something about some highway workers who will build a highway but can't seem to find anything else about it.

It would be nice to have NPC workers (even spirits for easier pathing) who will build roads, flatten a large area of land, mine or help out on the farm by tending the crops when they need it.

  9. Would it be possible to subdivide this forum into Client and Server so we can immediately see if mods are either client or server based? The mod launcher for the relevant forum stickied to the top of the forum so we can download the latest version of it as well.

This would help a lot when trying to find mods since they are not exactly well laid out here. We really need a web page that shows all the current mods, categorised and listed so we can find the ones we want easily. Scrolling through pages and pages of forum posts is not what I'd call user friendly but at least subdividing the forums would be a start.

I been working on a mod to alter how fire and furnaces work. For example, forges with larger fuel capacity, examine messages that tell you exactly how long the fire will burn for...and others.

I don't think it's that difficult to make mods. If I were to average an hour or so a day writing mods I could probably make a mod at least every two weeks. My problem is motivation. I think the code I have to write to make mods is weird. Bytecode manipulation is just strange and reflection is a little better but still not what I consider mainstream java programing. I'd almost rather go get JMonkey and make my own game. With this I could at least use a broader selection Java code techniques. I don't have the skill to make A Wurm like game but I could do old-school arcade game clones.

Nice but really this makes my point about a few small mods that benefit a few people but really don't add much to the game as such. If I knew Java, I'd like to change how a few things work (ie: making a Keel from a felled tree NOT in your inventory) but that's just personal preference.

As I said before, what I'd most like to see is a group of modders getting together to make something epic. This has been done in a few other games and has become an instant hit with fans. How about 'Wurm 500 years on' with some more tech?

And with out a extremely well writen API, Wurm Unlimited will stagnate.

I have suggested a few easy extras like sconces and such for wall hanging lights and torches. There is a hell of a lot more that could be added to the game, even if it stays within the same medieval era.

If you want to go further into the future, there are trains, self propelled vehicles and such that could be built in parts with a lot of iron, copper, bronze and such. I realise these would take a lot more programming but that's why I proposed a few modders getting together. It's been done in games before and if necessary, make a paypal donation site for it to pay for the work, I am sure there are many players who would gladly donate if it means good quality mods for the game in future. Other mod groups have successfully used this method and I know one who paid half the cost of his new car on his share of the donations alone for the Skyrim mods they worked on. Getting one person to pay for a mod they specifically want and that will ultimately be put up free for public access is unrealistic at best.

  12. With few posts on here and very few new mods, I begin to wonder if Wurm modding is coming to an end. It does seem that there are only a couple of modders who come here and no posts here in the last few days does not bode well for the future of modding in this game. I know it takes time to make a mod but some idea of what modders are working on (if anything at all) and the extent of their progress might be a little more heartening than total silence.

I would like to see a group of modders working together to make something better than a single item in the game (Hitching post) or a slight change in how something is done (dig to ground for example). Come on guys, I know there's a lot of talent out there, Let's see it put to some serious use in a game that has so much potential for modding. I have seen total conversion mods in games like Skyrim, Very complex mods in many other games. Why does Wurm suffer with very simple things and no really intensive mods?

Sadly I can't program in Java or I would have a go too.

  13. Ok thanks

It is a bit confusing when little or no info is given about what the mod does or how it work in the game.

I presume it allows a multiple of the existing limits based on Carpentry skill. So instead of being able to make a house only taking up 6 tiles at a certain skill level, you can make one 12 tiles at the same skill level for example. Or have you removed the upper limit completely so we can build a house that encompasses the entire map.

  14. I built a guard tower solo so I could build my settlement. It took a couple of hours but that's all. If it's just for a kingdom placement, the ql doesn't matter so you can build one with practically no masonary skills beyond those you'd get from making all the bricks.

IMO, it's quite cheap considering the guards will help you deal with aggressive animals as well as your settlement Templars. If it were me, I'd make a tower a pre-req for getting town guards and do away with the templars completely. If you want more town guards, either imp the existing tower or build another one. Of course, this would have to do away with the 50 tile exclusion zone around it so you can have several towers in one settlement. Then settlement tower guards, (those spawned from a tower inside the settlement boundaries), would adopt the AI for the Templars and not act like normal tower guards.

Now there's an idea for a modder to take on. I'm not a Java programmer so there's no way I can do it.

  15. I'd happily settle for citizens who wander around and do nothing. If for no other reason than to give an illusion of live in your settlement. If they could be programmed to do certain actions like using a crafting station (anvil, forge, loom etc) without actually making anything, they would appear to be working within the settlement. Much like Skyrim that has NPC's that just make up the community, wander around and do random things just so the place seems populated.

  16. Any more info on this? What's the Ant build system for example?

I would love this as I am trying to build something on my own server that exceeds the build limits. The problem is that I don't want something that makes it easier to build the structure once planned, just to enlarge the planning stage.
