  1. I could support this, but remove guard towers and spirit guards entirely, while not allowing creatures to bash deed structures (off-deed is fair game.)
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence
  3. Tagging this for future reference; could use a few casts when you're back!
  4. IRON PLATE

    That already happened--they're called spears.
  5. I agree, it's just a shame that fantastic updates like that are marred by decisions that are both anti-consumer and generally terrible.
  6. Give up that ###### 3x skillgain you're getting for no reason and then we can talk about "promoting equality."
  7. the '"what" was because, contextually, it makes no sense. His post is to elitism what Family Guy is to wit.
  8. That's one way to look at it: another is that your proficiency in handling the weapon is reflected accurately, as you are able to swing it more quickly, parry more often with it, etc.--but your actually fighting ability is reflected elsewhere. Furthermore, when looking at your combat log, how many 'misses' do you actually see, as opposed to the mob dodging, or the blow glancing? Because I don't see very many, and I'd wager that unless you're using lol40qualityunenchantedgear, you aren't either. Honestly, I think that if the system were changed so that glancing blows dealt some fraction of damage (even just 1/50th) of the full hit, we'd see far fewer complaints like this.
  9. I was looking through logs and saw that while commanding a cart and using a large axe, it took me 52 seconds to kill a venerable troll. That's like... 40 seconds more than it should have! Remedy this atrocity at once!
  10. +1, though I might recommend having an invitation system of some sort implemented, so that while a player is in the tutorial, they can be 'invited' to Xanadu, so that way it isn't a hassle for friends to be able to play together.
  11. This entire change was not only a terrible idea, but poorly implemented on top of that; it needs to be reverted.
  12. PM offers here or in game (Delacroix), please. Thanks!
  13. No, the actual file from the folder: wurmclient.jnlp Bit more information, if it helps: have the game installed on my SSD in C:\Users\Delacroix\wurm. Copied it to a folder named 'wurm' on a second SSD and ran it. After doing so, I was greeted with the blue bar and "Update complete! (3 pack(s) up to date.) Presumably from copying the packs from my laptop earlier. Hopefully this step will cause it to actually update for you, as well.
  14. Solved the issue, I think. Try moving your Wurm client (by itself) to a different folder, then running it.
  15. I've got the same issue as far as updating goes. I've tried everything from completely removing the game and java and reinstalling, to verifying/retrying the download, to pulling the install off of my laptop (which *did* successfully update) to restarting. None of it has fixed the problem.
  16. It's almost as if had you bothered to read, you'd have gotten the answer to this way back on the first page. What a shame it is when you're too busy seeing demons that don't exist to take the time to graciously accept all of the (accurate) information in this thread and learn, instead of willingly feeding into the misconceptions and inaccuracies that run rampant.
  17. More that it's a waste of rune materials, just as it's a waste of a spell and favor. It's mundane enough to not warrant even using as lolmag, just as it's mundane enough to not warrant wasting rift materials on, but it's just useful enough that it could be a tool. Its use isn't so much in areas that you've already committed to working on, but for areas that you're considering--especially if you're a newer player with limited resources at your disposal.
