  1. Manual is much better -so far all is good. 32 minutes download time. Same thing -Dc and its its a combo fall and winter. Restoring temp file. Restoring temp seems to have fixed it. Must be used some way to help with season changes. Still DC'ing just not as often. Doesnt seem to be doing the combo season thing either.
  2. bout 20 more min and well see how it goes. Manual is pretty slow on the download. and yes the background trees are winter the rest is fall, and its winter time. In other views the mountains are white as well. Would be fine except for all the DC's.
  3. Could be .. I deleted the temp file...so if it was exacerbating or flat out causing it I dont know. However I am getting some problems, just oddities. DCing from time to time and then when i relog I get this - you need to do a full relog if it happens and so far happened only once. But if you dont fully relog itll start dcing often and lagging a bit. Its all good atm but ill delete it and redownload once they have everything working tomorrow. Killing the test graphics and trying the manual download -Dcing and fubarring too much. Test took about 8 min or so to download, no biggie.
  4. Was an easy fix by replacing graphics jar with test graphics jar. Thanks Just dont delete the temp file...leave it in.

  6. Can bridges pass over internal walls and roofs or do they always have to connect to an outside wall? As I understand it, they can only connect to outside walls as bridges cannot be built over structures?

  8. It was bad last night and its nearly twice as bad this afternoon. What I cant comprehend is why they dont at least restart it or something. It makes no sense to let it run this way .....unless its running on a failover due to a server crash, or another part of the architecture is simply failing and turning it off might do more harm than good. Whatever the reason it really needs to be addressed....in the near term, not after bridges. HINT HINT HINT Rolf.
  9. Really - what the hell is with the lag on xanadu. Last night was horrible and come in this morning and its worse. If the idea is to make it so bad that people leave so you can shut it down without having to do compensation, then its a new low for CC. 7 to 10 second lag on stam refresh....seriously.......really...restart the server or something. Why do you let it run like this????
  10. Unfortunately you have a point, I dont like it a bit, but its true to a large degree and not just about WURM either. Titles tend to pick an area to focus on and the other areas tend to be less developed. However, this is not a justification for stopping all attempts at pushing the game forward. If enough want it and enough players push hard enough, the idea will get to the table and perhaps get the right people to saying the right things in order to get it going. Moving to a different engine is a very large undertaking, but I dont care, crowdfund it, ill write a few checks, hire some more developers, ill write a few more checks. Im betting so will a lot of people. But no one will ever know unless its tried, really what could it hurt to throw out the idea and see what happens. I just wish Rolf would openly discuss the idea and see how many would crowdfund it.

If you watch the video all the way through they show a handful of the assets in low poly mode that look completely realistic and show tree seeding and how the trees spread over time plus quite a few other odds and ends. Its worth watching all the way through. All the assets they are talking about come with the Engine. They ask a 5% cut off gross, but if you call them they will give you a better deal.
  12. A couple things here #1 - Right after 1.0 was released Rolf had a bunch of people show up at a type of celebratory party for the release of 1.0 (Multistory). For trade - I built a POC in 5 hours in C# with data calls wrapped in AJAX -- double that time due to Wurm being in Java - 10 hours-- thats no time at all in coding The others are also quick and easy time wise - - Lets define quick and easy - are you looking for time based quick and easy - or - items that minimally impact gameplay -- If your looking only for items that minimally affect gameplay yes then none of my suggestions should be on such a list. Just a quick edit - If your only looking for items that are minimally impactful, doesnt that only constitute busy work for the devs? Granted polish is nice, but with Rolf talking about Steam doesnt it make more sense to get a list of items that contain things that would help with player retention, items that have a high ROI, the biggest bang for the development buck -so to speak? Items that have the possibility to meet and improve current players QOL as well as coforming to new players expectations? IM not trying to undermine your efforts here at all, polish is nice, its always welcome, but we just lost one dev, im thinking that dev time is just simply better spent on impactful items. Ultimately though if all you want are low impact items then just delete my posts in this thread as they will only serve to detract form your efforts and that wasnt the point. Ill do another thread.

  16. Rework Trade - we got it down to only 2 items needed and neither is big on coding, but huge on playability. Upper Tier Workbenches for all crafts Complete other crafts such as Alchemy ect ect ect ROUND CONSTRUCTION - ie dome roofs, half circle and full circle walls - this simply cannot be that hard given all the other construction code thats in place. Ship Weapons - it cannot be difficult - dont care if its a slingshot that only shoots coconuts, just some ship weapon to sink other ships Bonuses to high skill levels - IE Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic - Examples Carpentry @75 skill ((- 1 main material Bonus) Wooden walls only take 19 planks instead of 20) Carpentry @80 skill ((-2 main material Bonus) Wooden Walls only take 18 planks instead of 20) Do this for all skills and throw some other things in there as well. Currently skill is just useful for speed and determining limits. Why not have some bonuses for those that have achieved the higher end of the skill spectrum. An alternative to Priests that one can play without having to give up 75% of the game.
  17. Front page of Website Nothing about survival there - I can quote too And like Warlander said any survival aspect wears off pretty quickly once you get a grasp on the mechanics. Ingame communication, especially leaving messages to offline people could really use a revamp. It shouldnt cost anyone anything, Wurm isnt a cell phone company. Plenty of ways to do it, (thats accessible to everyone easily)just need the will to do it.
  18. Wells wont grow reed. Its communication - it should be easy. Wurm isnt a survival game, its a sandbox.
  19. Papyrus sheets are not a very good solution to this problem as they are not easily accessible by everyone. (IE if you live inland away from the coast) A much better way is needed and it shouldnt cost an iron to do so.

  22. The server is too big -Reset it to a smaller server. The bigness is nice, the bigness is great, but it doesnt work -time to reset it to a smaller server. Its not just the Lagg thats an issue due to size, its mob dispersion, player dispersion, travel times(specifically sailing) just to name a few. No one wants to give up all the work they put into a deed, but with all the issues that really cannot or will not be addressed in our lifetimes its just easiest to admit defeat and reset the server to a smaller one to address all the issues.

  25. It needs reset to a different size map. A smaller map size, not much smaller but whatever size they "can" actually handle without lag. Lag aside there are also other problems Mob dispersion Player dispersion Too much water and too many mountains Travel issues ( sailing) Resetting to a smaller map size addresses all those and the lagg.
