  1. Do you want Functionality or Aesthetics? If you only want signs to be functional, I would say just make the text Arial or something everybody can agree on like TNR or Georgia. If you want Aesthetics, you'd have to figure out how you can allow people to select a font (perhaps dropping a desired font file into their game directory?) but then you would also have to figure out how to display it to other people, if it only displayed for the spoken client, and if it does display for other people there is the chance that it might be some strange font that either detracts or adds to the game or cannot be read clearly (like some Cursive font or Ye Olde English). Figuring out how to display someones client based font to others is the tricky part. Unless its a standardized system font that all computers have, there would have to be some send-receive or streaming of the client font to others.
  2. It already exists as far as I know, It is called a Hanging Oil Lamp and they have all the different materials, including Gold (which looks really nice).
  3. When you make the sign "Fantastic" it glows and you can read it a lot easier. You can see this on my WU server when I open it to the public soon.
  4. Here are some screens of my setup for the tile that would be perfect for a trap door (if only we also had basic scripting abilities for WU, we could really make some cool things! I imagine the trap door could work like a normal door, just use the ladder tile without the ladder and give the bitflag option of how it opens (w/ key, on entry, off, etc).
  5. Could have something to do with the Path of Insanity, as well. Maybe someone on that highest plane of that path gets possessed and wanders around into forests to a specific tile and mutters random things with no or little (obfuscated) control. Maybe they could even start building shrines or collecting resources (ingredients) for some arcane ritual that the host has no clue what is but the entity needs it for some quest that they lead them too. Could be a nifty idea.

I also like this idea +1 I think this would require some of my tile container idea because currently we are limited to one tile and without some kind of additional system to handle additional tile additions, there is no way to add more floors or walls. For example, if you wanted to put a tree ontop of a building and even had developer abilities, you can't do it because the game engine doesn't detect the top floor as its own tile, it only detects the tile far underneath it and you are limited to that. This must be expanded.

  8. +1 I have seen this suggested in WO before by a player wanting to be a traveling smith/armorer. It is impractical right now due to not being able to cargo a forge. Perhaps make it so that it is a cart item (not two separate items that load into each other) so that people can't unload it somewhere and thus sell high QL forges (which is what I imagine some people complain and don't want to support this idea? Idk but there are always ways to design around whatever problem you have, so you should mention why you put a -1 not just put a -1). Not unlike those BBQ's you sometimes see people hitched to their vehicles!
  9. Clearly it would be the negating item that blocks a priest's mind control ability or even block mental attacks by high level priests. It could also be used to lessen the Path of Insanity 'craziness', soften the insanity at higher levels, etc. Less voices, No Voices, Less Severe Voices, Positive Voices instead of Negative and of course the grand old Silence (that is what happens in my head when I equip my Foil hat IRL, ahh, no more negative government injected thoughts or pains in my head! (They really do send you bad thoughts via ultra/super sonic weapons, it has been suggested that they also try to blast your neurons to control how you think or what you can remember)).
  10. I understand, the trapdoor request is really just a personal aesthetics request. In one of my gatehouses, I have it setup so people have to pass into the building and through a locked gate but in one instance they go up stairs and pass over what could be called a jail and a trap door would work perfectly in that spot. It isn't even a PVP server, I am just making buildings that I would like to look like they are completely functional guard houses that could actually trap those who shouldn't enter or those who attack. I figured that it could be of actual use to real PVPers, though. Yeah, the main reason I couldn't make my deed on Xanadu was because, as a player hermit, I cannot live ontop of mountains in Wurm Online without hauling water which, with how I use to climb mountains, was completely impractical. Water tile is something that really needs to be developed and I was informed that it is suppose to be in the future woodworks and was always considered but I figure it was being seen as more complex than it should be. This idea could make getting into that area a little easier for the developers and I hope they consider it and attempt.

Wurm players have always wanted a way to turn a non-water tile into a water tile and I have a few ideas that might make heading down that path a bit easier: Idea 1: Create koi (fish) garden pond items (basically a water basin) that you install into a tile like floorboards. This could consume one tile as a single small pond or you could create multiple items that would create a bigger pond that would take more tiles (think of a pie cut into four equal pieces (+) that make up a larger item) and it could even be filled with water like a fountain or placed like a well to fill on its own. This could provide water in deserts/steppe/tundra and on top of mountains, where you currently have no access to water if you are above water level, making it more difficult in these fantastic places. Imagine an Oasis in the middle of a desert/steppe or a hotspring resort on top of a mountain, or even a fish farm far inland! It would certainly help fishers hold their catch. I also had some other idea's: A multi-story stair or floor that is a trap door (so think in pvp if you you pass/bash through a gate or into a building, go up some stairs and step on a trap door and get trapped in a makeshift jail below). And another idea that could add some more capacity to multi-story buildings is theorizing that you could somehow add additional coded containers per height level for each floor which would allow you to treat each floor level as its own tile with its own tile contents, instead of just a single tile with multiple floors. This would allow you to do things like add trees on top of buildings, or other tile enhancements that are currently restricted to single tile. I don't know if this is possible but I thought that it would be worth looking into, if the devs already hadn't. Thanks for taking my suggestions into consideration, I'm sure they would improve the game and help players accomplish more in the game as well as more personal enjoyment.
  12. Well, the alternate is to source good players. If a server is being abused, since nobody can seem to figure out how to avoid client mods, most people use a password to protect it and only play with individuals they know won't be jerks. Maybe it's just daydreaming to think that there can ever be the kind of honor in gaming that there use to be in the 90's. Now it is all just about one-upping the opposition with any means possible which makes gaming = not fun. I suppose there remains those of us who still function on our word. If a server says no cheating or no abuse, those who seek to do so know there are others servers that don't mind and should utilize those instead of knowingly tormenting others. That requires more good people in the world, which requires humans to be good in the first place. Trying to move mountains. I suppose I will just function on the word though; haha... living on the Honor system in an entirely dishonorable world. It will become apparent if someone is abusing advantages not normally given to regular unmodified clients and that person will be asked to cease or perhaps banned if it is abusive to others. If their actions don't really constitute anything but making the game somewhat more convenient, that isn't really too much of an issue as long as it isn't utilized in PVP to give an advantage, that is where it is wrong. Let's face it, normal WO can be insanely grindy and some things are not even possible because of how the normal game plays (the way I am building my shrines and map, for example, would be impossible in WO without ARCH powers). Besides, it is kind of difficult to force someone to make their own 99QL toolbelt (which is really nothing more than a hotkey - quick bar) when there is no sense of a normal market or community on servers that have an average of less than 10 players. By the way, if blocking or disabling client-side modification (Or even bit-checking/file checking to prevent file-moded clients from joining server until they disabled them or use original, vanilla files) was a hard coded server setting, they couldn't modify it without shutting down the server and restarting it, just like the database files. It is read-only. I would like to see this explored, instead of disregarded. We want solutions, not obfuscation.
  13. WU Developers / Rolf should just make it so client side modifications can be disabled by server setting. If mod support isn't installed on a server, client side mods won't work (intentionally disabled). This should clean up the abuse of mods for advantages that are unintended and allow people to have their custom servers the way they want them. I will be running a mod-free PVP server so things mentioned in this post won't happen, but that can only be so if my suggestion is taken into consideration and implemented post-haste.
  14. Server was updated to an SSD drive to improve performance. Currently these lands are not available. When Highthborne releases publicly, Anthion will also go online. Highthborne is currently at 3/7 shrines built. Once all are complete both lands will be available.
  15. Server was updated to an SSD drive to improve performance. Half of the main path is currently complete with 3 out of 7 shrines complete. Currently approaching the 4th shrine for building. When all shrines and main path is complete, the server will be opened to the public for exploration and building.

    It's funny how Nintendo never realizes how successful they'll be so they never put their all in before hand. Can't even play this on 3DS, kind of short-sighted by Nintendo. I don't have a phone and I never will, so I can't play. Oh well, I don't live in the city anyway so I don't imagine it would work that well for me.

  21. Maybe, but I imagine, just like with the other large or complex projects -- that it would take a lot of resources and a lot of effort by multiple people. Imagine making an entire steam engine rail line on your own, not really feasible. As a GM, maybe.
