  1. *Blushes* I'm looking forward to seeing what you all get!
  2. Progress! I temporarily disabled my firewall (AVG) and I connected! Now someone wants something and I have a shell in my inventory. I still have no idea what I'm doing. KABOOM. But now I have a handy console log.
  3. Ok. Upon reinstalling, the default IP address in the box changed. I changed it back to what my IP is. For some reason at first I wasn't seeing my server under LAN, so I tried connecting by IP. That got me a different error - connection refused. I tried again, and it reappeared under LAN. Now I still get the original error again, and I'm still not connecting. I've now tried both creative and adventure, and neither work!
  4. Thanks for the reply! I'm still getting the same error today. This is the loading screen I'm talking about: So I click manage local server, start server. Then the window provides the button to shutdown the server. I go to the Wurm launcher, and click LAN, I select my server and click connect. That's when I get the above loading screen and I fail to connect. I think I'll try reinstalling! Maybe I messed something up when I initially tried to creates a server...
  5. I'll start this by saying I have no idea what I'm doing. My computer skills are conversational, not fluent. So I'm trying to create an adventure server for my own use cos I feel like being a hermit for a while, but I can't get the server to load. I get the loading screen, then network error>connection timed out. I've looked at Moot's video guide and Keenan's getting started guide on Steam, and googled to find other fixes. While I have found other people with the same problem, all the solutions are completely incomprehensible to me! I'm very confused about what IP address goes where. Google tells me I have one starting with 146, my computer tells me I have one starting with 192. Currently my 192 address is in the 'server external IP address' box, and another starting with 127 is in the 'server internal IP address' box. I have been able to add an exception to my firewall (AVG) and already had one set up for Steam. I've been trying different addresses in different boxes (even 0.0.0.0), tried the dedicated server (which crashed), connecting by IP (same connection error). I'm extremely confused and in need of gin laced tea! Can anyone help?
  6. I'm looking forward to trying this out. ^-^ I'm almost certain there was a deed in the spot my deed now is, it would be fun to find out what was there before!
  7. I just wanted to add that I am also able to run two clients simultaneously now, as long as I remember to run both of them with my Nvidia card. The only difference now apart from the performance and crashing, is my laptop runs hotter than when using the inbuilt card, but I suppose that is to be expected! And I still love you both.
  8. IT WORKED! OMG! Telling the client to use my Nvidia card has fixed it! I went to the trouble spots, and my fps never fell below 24, mostly staying in the 40s. UNHEARD OF ON STABLE IN THAT AREA. [19:10:34] You dance and frolic with Brash_Endeavors and Samool.
  9. My video card situation is somewhat odd - I do have an Nvidia card and a built in one. It doesn't show in the dxdiag and never has, but I know it's there as choosing either it or the integrated graphics does make a difference to some games performance. (Oddly some are better with the integrated graphics and not the Nvidia.) I've just loaded up the client selecting it to run with the Nvidia card. I'll see if that makes a difference. After that I'll try the vsync etc. Thank-you both for your help!
  10. Ok, it has made a difference. I'm still freezing badly when I get below about 6fps, but I'm no longer crashing. Firefox just now as I tabbed to it didn't respond for a moment but then came back to life. However going to the spots with the worst lag are still going to be nearly game killing. Wait, scratch that. That's what happened the first time going though one of those areas! Trying to go back resulted in exactly the same thing as before. Another dump: EDIT: Here's my dxdiag contents now, so what exactly I've updated can be seen:
  11. Another attempt, this time I tried going near where I crashed before, going off the main road into the Amish Estates deed. No dice! My framerate dropped down to 1, the game and then my computer froze. This is most frustrating, as it essentially means that on my doorstep (including an area of highway) is a no go area for me while running the unstable client. Today's dump: @Brash_Endeavors, thank-you, I'll try that! Created a restore point just in case... EDIT: Updated Intel via their automated update checker thing. Going to test now.
  12. I just relogged and attempted to continue my journey. I was able to for some while, but when I turned round to go home and reached approximately the same place I had the same problem. It's taken the computer about 5-10 minutes to return to a usable state. I attach the new client log:
  13. I feel today was better! I had no crashes, although when my framerate dropped it felt like the unstable client reacted more strongly than the stable one, ie I had more lag. I tried to log in my alt and have 2 toons running simultaneously, but that made my framerate and performance drop considerably. Having spent all my time on my deed, I decided to test trying an area where I have previously experienced issues. Then I got the same framerate drop, crash and freeze. I attach my client logs for both characters. Olafhairybreeks Hillabraidedbeard:
  14. Hi there, unfortunately as of about 5 minutes ago, the answer is no. I think this is the client log?
  15. Good idea! I swear I have a brain sometimes.
  16. I've tried using the unstable client with mixed success. I am in an area that experiences severe intermittent lag. Some have reported that using the unstable client has fixed those issues, but not for me! I've found that what would normally be a drop to 0 fps for a few moments is now a full crash. Wurm freezes, and the only way I can exit is by doing ctrl-alt-del. Unfortunately, this takes some time as my desktop also freezes and the task manager crashes! After approximately 5 minutes things are back to normal and I can restart the game.
  17. Look at that prettiness! Great job, I look forward to trying it out!
  18. Since I logged in this evening, I've noticed that I get a strange flickering when I'm riding my horse. It seems to be much worse when I'm in areas where I get low fps, especially when I get below 15fps. When I'm not moving on the horse or not on the horse at all I don't get this issue. I haven't had it before today, 13/4/17. Relogging after /lotime doesn't have any effect. The new update seems to be causing this issue, because as far as I know nothing else has changed on my computer. EDIT: I now seem to be getting some minor flickering while I'm not on the horse but walking around.
  19. Welcome to Hindleap Horses! Situated in a peaceful forest just west of Summerholt, I breed the 8 'new' colours mainly, but I generally get other colours too. I'm aiming to produce a mixture of horses bred for speed and draft traits, ideally with the 'certain spark' trait which increases horses' life span by 3 months to a total of 9 months of life. **Notes on the new traits system** Since the recent animal husbandry update, there have been many changes to the traits system. The details on the update can be found here, but I'll put a brief explanation on what it means for horses, donkeys and mules here. Instead of the old 5 speed horses which were the best you could make, there are now 4 speed horses. These are functionally the same for riding. Horses with 3 or more speed traits have the new 'hot blooded' body shape, which is similar to that of real Arabian horses. The new speed traits are: You'll notice that only 3 of those traits affect movement on land, which is what we're doing 99% of the time! So if you get a 3 speed horse that's only lacking the accustomed to water (AW) trait, you have as good a riding horse as a 4 speed. There is a 5th rare speed trait, 'it is unbelievably fast' (UF), which means the animal is 'always on speed bonus similar to hell horses'. Rare traits are, obviously, rare; but when combined with the other 4 speed traits will be the fastest horses we can get. We now also have draft traits which affect an animal's ability to pull vehicles. Horses with 3 or more draft traits get the 'cold blooded' body type which is like a real Shire or Clydesdale horse. There are 4 common draft traits which are as follows: Similar to the speed traits, there is a trait that doesn't affect pulling ability, but the damage taken to gear (EG). This again means that draft horses with only the other 3 traits will be as useful for pulling vehicles as those with 4 draft traits. There are 2 rare draft traits, 'it seems stronger than normal' (SN) which gives a bonus to their ability to carry, and 'it seems more nimble than normal' (NN) which increases the maximum ridable slope. Draft horses are better than speed horses for pulling vehicles, but remain reasonable riding horses when equipped with good gear. **How to find me** Hindleap is in G23 on Xanadu as shown above. There is a main road from Summerholt and the turnoff onto the gravel path to Hindleap is signposted. There is access by water from the north and just to the south at the Nexa Market and Sanctuary. 20. Ditto on hoping you could ride them untamed! Makes travel on them dangerous and not useful as horses/hellhorses are. Still riding a unicorn for fun though. ^-^
