  1. Reduce the action timer and increase skill gain. Most people don't play for a day let alone a year. So it would affect such a small minority as to be inconsequential. So the multitude who play for a few hours will be more likely to stick around for a few weeks or months instead. Give people nails when they start. Yes, I'll say it, make it easier for noobs. Unless you want no new players you'll have to do that to get them to stick around. They old whine, 'It was hard for me so make it hard for the noobs' is a crock of stinking poo. Take a look at Steam. There are a multitude of sandbox survival games. Compete.
  2. Ping is consistently over 200. I'll try to log on to your server and see how it goes. Seems to be ok for now.
  3. But it's an UPGRADE. Those are supposed to make things better, yes? BTW, large auto playing video can cause bad things to happen to people. Especially ones like that above. Seizures being one of them.
  4. Why? The old one was just fine. This one looks like I'm in the clean room and have to go through decon before I come and go. Can we please have some atmosphere?
  5. This link may also help: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/133062-tutorial-how-to-install-custom-maps-clean-your-database/
  6. What do you name the folder with the new map? When you click on Manage Server does your new map show up? What you are describing is what I've seen when I have not rebuilt the dbase or the .map files are corrupt for whatever reason. I would suggest using Budda's Wgenerator since it is the most generic of the lot. Less chance for corruption. Then follow the steps as described by Clatius which are below. If this does not work let us know what you have done step by step. It will be the only way to know what has gone awry. BTW, whether or not WU puts in the biomes is hit and miss for me. I cannot get it to do that reliably.
  7. Naulus, just so you don't think your program isn't functioning, it's working fine on my machine.
  8. When I set Field of View greater than 90 I get a horizontal stretching of water reflections. With Field of View set at 90 this does not happen. I can't say if this is a problem associated with WU code or if it's a problem associated with my computer's software or hardware. I failed to mention, the stretching occurs only on the left and right sides of the screen, not the middle portion. It is as if the center is still at a 90 degree FOV and the amount above 90 stretch the screen so that the middle portion displays properly and the left and right sides stretch. 9. Ah, but the OP had already agreed that Rolf's stance on refunds was good and proper. Enki, in pointing out the OP's approval of Rolf's stance, did nothing more than remind the OP that they had agreed with Rolf's view. It would appear that the only reason the OP agreed with Rolf is because they had never had to ask for a refund or if they had they received satisfaction. Now the shoe is on the other foot, so to say. As long as we are using cliches, the OP wants to have their cake and eat it too. An impossible proposition and one that leaves the OP looking like nothing more than a very large hypocrite. While the vast majority of the human population are hypocrites, myself being no exception, few make it so publicly noticeable. I imagine if Enki had not pulled this past reminder out of the shadows the OP would have been heaped with pity. Now, except for the Rolf and WO bashers, the OP is met with derision from people who actually have a brain.
  10. Yawn. Perfect name for such a post.
  11. This was said to be something that would happen. First WO would receive the update and then WU. How long between the various updates was never mentioned.
  12. Ah yes, as on the tee shirts. "I hear voices and they don't like you"
  13. What are you referring to? Explain yourself.
  14. This is not really a practical solution. I'm generating a 4096 map and I pressed the drop dirt button 45 minutes ago. It has yet to complete. The drop dirt box was left at default levels. The concepts are good, the execution is not. The map name at the top should reflect the seed number in the noise box. In the drop dirt box the default max dirt height should not exceed the default max height in the noise box.
  15. It isn't hard at all to do it manually. But I too had thought the same as you. A batch file would do well enough but it has been many years since I've done anything like that. A proper utility in some common programming language that is user friendly would work best. In the meantime I'm fine with doing it manually.

Yes, I wonder what CC was thinking when they put a single player game out that ran in the same way regarding time as WURM Online. I hope they didn't think people would run their computers 24/7. Especially considering the way the disk usage increases as the server is run a longer period of time. This is obviously something they did not think through. Think of those poor noobs who have never played the game logging on to real life week after real life week of winter. Sad really. Please, some way to easily adjust time either through a GM function or at server start up.
  17. Please give us the ability to turn off winter. It is getting very old. Do you understand that in a game where the 'server' is not run 24/7 winter will last for weeks or months in real time? That is a highly depressing thought to consider.
  18. No, it is not the same. The cloud cover is much less than in WO. I have sky detail set to max in WO and at times the sky is completely covered by clouds when there is precipitation. Not so for WU.
  19. The lack of moon light was one of my complaints also. Three moons, whether full or quarter, would most certainly give light. Three full moons up at the same time would provide as much light as a cloudy day.
