  1. Key items are a horribly inefficient and inconvenient way to handle the issue. Some hybrid of the writ, boat/cart permissions and mine door interface applied to ALL locked objects uniformly is the answer. We need to be able to allow access by name entered, checkboxes on a friends list, groups by friend/village/alliance/kingdom/everyone all in one big form.
  2. I certainly can not speak for the wronged in this situation, but as a player I'd prefer them to act and act decisively far more than I would be concerned for my in-game possessions. Knowing you have to rebuild but that you'll be safe to do so is far less depressing than continuing on knowing that every new name is a new opportunity to be abused without repercussion. Having said that, I would hope that in a situation where the GMs have banned an account and there is no uncertainty that an item in its possession belongs to a player, that they would return it even if it meant nt everything taken would be returned.
  3. Photo-shopped. He doesn't have more than 4.
  4. For vehicles on Freedom servers (except Chaos) either it needs to require a lock as a component to build or it should be created with a free lock attached. It's a pretty sad way to lose potential players.
  5. Speaking as strictly a Wurm non-pvper, it seems to me that the meditation abilities make the rather common (in Wurm only) mistake of trying to balance combat and non-combat abilities. It would make a LOT of sense to me to strip down all the paths and rework them so that at each tier they each get one non-combat perk (each comparable to the other) and one combat perk (again, each comparable to each other). These things need to have similar mechanics such that if the level X ability one is constant and passive, it is the same on all. At level Y everybody gets a 1x/day activated combat buff. Level Z gives an ability that procs when something external happens to you etc. I know a lot of people think the asymmetry of the med/priest mechanics in Wurm is part of the fun (and it very well could be if done right) but it is also the source of why the game is so horribly unbalanced. At the very least using the same functional template would mean that level 7 of this path isn't better than level 10 of the other or that one path or the other is useless in a pure pvp/pure non-pvp environment. edit: pre-tea grammar
  6. I'd 'like' your posts Seancarl, but I gave all mine to Brash today. Now. Issle/Sizzle, if I was like the OP I'd be all up in your face barking for your use of "monolithic" to describe non-pvp servers. It's a false and rather demeaning characterization. But I do get where you are coming from and for a person that likes competition a pvp server is probably better for you and a non-pvp server probably seems pretty boring. But there is extensive and varied game play available on non-pvp servers just as much as on pvp servers. The only difference is that there is a war (or not, so I have been told) going on pvp servers and so raiding and combat are an option. Some people like an external 'cause' to bring them together with others in competitive sport. Other than that, we play the same game. Last time around I was a wealthy crafter and crapped plate armor. This time I'm strictly a builder making a fine castle. Last time I was in the leadership of a large community. This time I am a hermit. I've been a priest, I've killed dragons, I've helped carve highways through wild terrain, lost prized horses escaping monster filled canyons, and I've even fought in tournaments. Sometimes I'm a farmer and sometimes I just chew through rocks for sweet sweet shiny gemstones..Seems pretty varied to me. Neither play-style is innately better, but one or the other might be more fun for you as an individual.
  7. Except that you would tire out very quickly while sprinting and the horse can go for much, much longer.
  8. Yes, please. The easiest way to please the majority of the paying players is to add more options to buildings and their decoration.
  9. Lol. I really hope this was a troll attempt.
  10. In all seriousness, if they add a chariot, I'd also like a functionally identical buggy added. Two horses, seats two under a nice little canopy. For speed, I remember one reconstruction was figured safe to operate at up to 24mph, so ~38kph. Given that Wurm horses travels at about half the speed of real ones (up to 48kph gallop irl), then a good chariot/pair of good horses shouldn't go anywhere faster than about 20kph in the game, maybe plus a bit more just to make sure it is faster than a large cart.
  11. Only if we can attach blades to the wheels.
  12. If it increases speed to a fixed level it biases towards heavily equipped players. If it is instead a % increase light equipped players will also benefit and the relationship between their relative speeds would be maintained.
  13. The indie tile "Miasmata" had a revolutionary cartography/orienteering system worthy of checking out. Basically, you could take sightings of an object from two known positions and triangulate it's location. Later, you could then determine your position from any two such landmarks you could get line of sight on. Doing so revealed a little of the map around you allowing you slowly build up a map of the game world
  14. Don't be petty about this. people. It's not a bad thing if the GMs take action here. Just because they failed to do so in the past isn't reason to not do so now, nor is it unfair to change their policies for the better. I for one want more involved and heavy handed moderation. I know I have nothing to fear because for some odd, crazy reason playing by the rules and getting along (or at least not openly squabbling) with my neighbors isn't that hard for me.
  15. Another thing I pondered and found only archived suggestions. Secret door that you have to manually open and has to be successfully searched to find if you are not on the writ. (Bonus points for a creepy scraping sound)
  16. No, you are right. Epic Challenge players are his current favorites.
  17. So, what's wrong with mounted animal heads being common? They're decoration. Somewhere there is a player with a dozen skin rugs bemoaning the lack of dead animal heads on the walls of their hunting lodge. Who cares if they have resell value?
  18. It is meant to be an experimental server with variety between scenarios. Some version of this might be a good round. Think of it this way, if you are in village A and your mate is in village Q...aren't you going to push for A and Q to form an alliance? Even if it means you need to subjugate village T to have a direct, safe land connection? I can imagine some hilarious early politics/blobbing with the end game being a few big village alliances trying to force the border villages to switch sides and keep the rest from breaking up into a rival faction. I might actually play in that environment.
  19. Lol....no. You already get special rewards and opportunities compared to the rest of the cluster.
  20. Sorry to hear about this, please pm the name so I can help spread it around. It's horrible that the forum policies prevent the malefactor from being named. They need to be banned. No if's and's or but's about it.
