  1. Today's the big day - the winds are good, I'm sailing for Rockcliff!
  2. Latest rift starts tomorrow, Sun Sep 03 at 1423 UTC, up in the ol' caldera in the center of the island at K17 https://pristine.yaga.host/#1031,955 This has been Ol' Auntie Sid reporting to you live from Pristine.
  3. Thanks for posting that, Elrohiir! I wasn't terribly interested in it from the graphic on the shop page, but this reminds me of the chairs I would sit on at my grandmother's house and now I'll have to find a way to pick up at least one, just for memory's sake.
  4. ...I fear strange things are afoot at the Transmutation Hut.
  5. Holy cats, that's one heck of an accomplishment - congratulations! Hopefully you can take a bit of a breather now, because you know what they say: All work and no filet makes Jack a dull boy!
  6. Latest rift starts tomorrow, Fri Aug 25 at 1310 UTC, smack in the middle of the moss patch at P12 https://pristine.yaga.host/#550,1487
  7. A quick note to extend my apologies here to everyone - I had an unexpected spot of travel crop up, which was immediately followed by an extended power outage due to storms in the area. Rest assured that the Transmutation Hut is working overtime to get caught up on each and every one of these orders. As always, thank you for your visit to the Transmutation Hut and an extra thank you for your patience
  8. Hello everyone! Just a quick note to say that I've been rather suddenly and unexpectedly away from Wurm for a few weeks but have finally returned. I've contacted some of you about some of the older orders to confirm that they're still needed and expect to have all of these in the mail later tonight. And if for some reason the items are no longer needed? No worries - just have the imps return them to me and I'll put them back on the shelf here in the ol' Transmutation Hut.
  9. It's even better because that 45kg of Hooloovoo is eligible for a bulk discount of 16% at volume, so the total cost would be 4s for the 10kg of Midnight Black, and then another 5s80c for the small barrel of Hooloovoo - so a total of 9s80c. And never fear, ol' Auntie Sid covers the COD cost on dye orders. I'll get that packed up for you here in a bit after the fireworks
  10. I actually find myself cautiously optimistic - and here's why. Instead of closing up shop entirely, GCG has chosen to invest in Wurm Online. Given that in-game loot crates - GCG's primary business - are no longer a viable business model, the company has chosen to pivot to put their weight behind Wurm Online. They would have been well within their rights to say "A 17 year old niche MMO with a several hundred players isn't a winning prospect - let's just fold up this company and try again with something entirely different." I try to keep this in mind - I would much rather have a Wurm Online trying to find a new path than to say goodbye to the friends I've made here and to this world that we've literally built with our tiny virtual hands. A pivot is difficult for any business to pull off and I applaud GCG for trying instead of taking the ball and going home. The announcement could have been done better, and that's something that can be fixed. July 1 was the start of Q3 and I reckon something had to get out the door to pair up with a business announcement. Could it have been done better? Yes. Are there dozens of talented folks here who would happily help put something together for free out of dedication and passion for the game? Also yes. Thankfully, this is the sort of thing that can be fixed after the fact and hopefully a valuable lesson has been learned. The in-game silver shop is quite good. Loyalty skins are back, which is something many people have wanted for a long time. I can't tell you the number of times I've needed something from a trader and wasted precious time running around trying to find one, and now it's very easy to purchase them. Plus, new gnomes! Who doesn't love a good gnome? Change is always difficult. Even though we're finally getting what many folks have asked for - a commitment to investing in the future of Wurm Online - this moment still feels scary. We love this world very much and it means a great deal to us. I'll continue to provide constructive criticism and work with GCG to see this marvelous little world to continue, because I can't bear the thought of it going away. And let's be honest, a niche MMO like Wurm lasting 17 years and still see active development is nothing short of a small miracle in the first place. Yours kindly, Ol' Auntie Sid
  11. I can supply you with the full 3k, Macready. Just let me know where you'd like it delivered.
  12. I do have a few suggestions! Without knowing the specific vibe of this magic garden, I'd recommend the following: Dark Blue (30c/kg) - for a nice 'under the sea' feeling, but can be a little murky/gloomy Dodger Blue (30c/kg) - because gosh darn it that color looks good on almost everything Deep Sky Blue (20c/kg) - I like the way this looks on lights - a nice actinic blue that's a little softer than the cyan family Deep Blue Sea (10c/kg) - because sometimes the 'pure' blues just get closer to the desired effect Given that it's in a cave, my hunch will be Deep Sky Blue. 1kg will dye 10 lamps, and I suspect there won't be many more lamps than that in this space. Just let me know who to send these 100g tester kits to and I'll hand them off to the imps ASAP for your feedback.
  13. That's right - don't be bummed at that rare source crystal you found in the bottom of that treasure chest - just send it on over COD to 'Sidereal'! 1 silver for rare source crystals 3 silver for supreme source crystals ??? for fantastic source crystals - if you find one, let's talk Why, might you ask? Well, we all know that wurmians have a tendency to collect things - and now I'm just a big magpie that wants to collect rare source crystals. Sadly they don't make rare source salt and don't add anything special to the imbue process. I just like 'em!
  14. Sadly, there isn't one - but it's really because there are so many possible dye combinations (roughly 16 million) and so many possible surface combinations (cloth, leather, wood, metal, pottery, stone, etc.) I'm slowly building a visual catalog of what all the dyes in the catalog look like on each of those surfaces, but it's been a very time-consuming and dye-consuming process. I'm always happy to take anyone on a proper Auntie Sid Dye Adventure™ to demonstrate what their ship or statue or armor or cart will look like with a specific dye color at no cost! Sadly, no - as much as I wish we could still dye a colossus statue, the only option these days are by making the Jackal Adamantium color runes and crossing your fingers the color is close to what you're looking for. Correct! I pre-measure all transmutations to be enough to guarantee transformation of a single tile that's either on deed or in perimeter. In the event the tile does not transmute completely, I will work with you to figure out what the issue is and help fix it. Sometimes a tile will fail to transmute, but it's always been one of these three situations: Is the tile entirely off deed? You'll need 50% more liquid, and the price would be 1.5s per tile Is the tile on a PvP server? Again, you'll need 50% more liquid and the price would be 1.5 per tile Are you not a citizen of the deed in question? You'll need 100% more liquid in this case and it would run 2s per tile #3 is the one I run into from time to time - someone is visiting a friend's deed, orders a few transmutations to help out, but discovers the tile doesn't transmute. I'll always try to check up front if any of these three situations might be an issue and have helped walk several wurmians through their first transmutations just to be safe.
  15. I do love a good dye challenge, and you know that first hand! History shows that we can't go wrong with a solid Crab Orange here - its in the red family and looks great on a crab statue. I like where you're going with a blue crab vibe with this Chesapeake Blue concept ... but sadly my dye test area is missing a crab statue as the treasure maps have been stingy in that department. One of these days, I'll have the luxury of being a little crabby when I can finally track down one of those delightful fellows!
  16. Another long wished for QoL perk for animal husbandry: 1) After a successful 'Breed' action, replace 'she' with the actual name of the animal Tired: [19:31:32] You feel confident she will give birth in 8 days, 2 hours. Wired: [19:31:32] You feel confident Mountainiron will give birth in 8 days, 2 hours. This would allow the ever-patient and very dedicated @Aldurto allow Granger to auto-update after 'Breed' actions without having to smile-examine the animal in question. 2) Find a way to make the 'smile-examine' mechanism to be keybound or macroable. I absolutely understand not wanting to allow emotes to be keybound (I can only imagine the 'Fart' spam that would ensue...), but I'd love a faster way to update Granger data instead of 'right click -> emote -> nice -> smile; right click -> examine'. That's a lot of mousing on large herds and I really wish there were some way for it to be less wrist intensive. I will say that after the recent addition of custom timers I do wonder if we might see additional essential features of Wurm Assistant (specifically Granger) integrated into the main client 🤔
  17. Tiny octopus is my very best friend and eternal companion! 🥰 We often work together when we both think about ink! 🐙
  18. Fortunately, there's actual academic research that has been published on this very topic: https://cs.stanford.edu/people/jure/pubs/disqus-icwsm14.pdf That's a lot of academic language, but the key findings are: (1) People who write low quality posts are more likely to write again when they get negative attention. Furthermore, the quality of their posts deteriorates. This goes beyond the simple adage that you shouldn’t feed the trolls by giving them attention. The evidence suggests that negative feedback can perhaps actually create trolls. It also suggests that people getting negative feedback are more likely to give others negative feedback, too, spreading the infection. (2) People who write high quality posts are encouraged by positive attention to write more. However, they aren’t as encouraged by positive attention as bad posters are by negative attention. Furthermore, the quality of their posts does not go up. Broadly speaking, encouragement doesn’t seem particularly effective. This work suggests that Wong’s purported solution – moral exhortation and positive feedback for good posts – won’t work . Trolls and poor quality posters get far more encouragement from negative attention than good posters get from positive attention.
  19. This seems weirdly specific and I've just noticed it. Tips to recreate most of the time: - be in driver's seat on wagon with a passenger on the back seat - be off deed - drag dirt from single crate to inventory - dropping dirt on ground works normally, until you pan out to the furthest 3rd person view - dropping dirt on ground only ever drops to pile after that, whether dropped to ground or dropped to pile - relogging seems to fix it Mostly consistent (80%+) but not 100% consistent. Wagon is supreme and a PMK design if that's possibly a factor, but I'm able to trigger this bug more often than not at the moment.
  20. I've had a chance to do a little more science to this, and here's what I've learned so far: This alternate birdsong does require: - a well tile under farmland - sufficient farmland around the well tile to activate the song, best lower bound is a 6x6 square of farm tiles that also contains a water tile This alternate birdsong does not require: - crops to advance a stage, the instant I had a 6x6 grid of farm planted around the well tile I was immedately able to hear the alternate birdsong coming from the well tile when none of the crop tiles had advanceda - the water/well tile to have a well or fountain on it Additionally: - large planted areas without a well will never play this alternate birdsong, even when crops advance a stage - I have no idea if this mechanic indicates any benefit (better harvests, faster crop growth, etc.), or is entirely cosmetic And I can't find it at the moment, but I recall a thread that suggested transmutations for creating well tiles and, well, I think that would be lovely for many reasons.
  21. By Vynora's hoop earrings I'll be there unless the earth itself swallows me whole! Just please please don't send everyone to camp on my lawn like you did last year. On the bright side, it did make for some interesting archeology fragments... And I'm not sure I'll be able to improve upon the dye kits from last year, so look forward to more of those. I still need to finish the dyes for the bridge lights, so that's my focus at the moment!
  22. Don't raise a stink! Here's your ink, you delightful fink! 🧉 I try to think about this ink that I drink, but I fear that I can't it's just not my kink. It just pushes me to the brink!
