  1. I had the opposite from you. I had a chaos deed on freedom and twitter wouldn't link either.
  2. Xanadu Map

Let's give it a day. We might get to find someone that will host the map images for free. If not we'll see what other options we have.
  3. Xanadu Map

Hard to say. I have not monitored the bandwidth usage at all but I'd say it should be at least as much as the official xanadu map consumes. I think Impalog is what caused the big spike in map traffic with all those people looking at the map to find where the impalong is taking place.
  4. Xanadu Map

They charge about 20USD/month for the minimum resources which I find to be a complete cheat. The thing is we have all map urls on the rhcloud domain if I were to move it to some other host, we'd get all those links invalidated. So I believe the best solution is to keep the free tier and just move the image files of the map to somewhere else that we can get for free or for very cheap. 20usd/month just because they are RedHat is ridiculous I could hotlink the image tiles to the ones that wurm officially provides for their maps if the devs/staff are ok with it.
  5. Xanadu Map

It took them two whole years but apparently they figured out we were freeloaders on one of the best PaaS providers in the world It looks like someone will have to host the map tiles so as I can off-load the bandwidth to let us continue on the free plan. So ... anyone that wants to host the tiles so as I can hotlink them in the app ?

Hello, On Dec 21, 2015 at 08:54:51 PM the OpenShift operations team flagged your application for excessive network resource use. We noticed that your gear is transferring an excessive amount of data. We want to thank you for your adoption of our platform. Unfortunately, our free tier is not intended for the kind of heavy usage that your application demonstrates. Our Acceptable Use Policy at https://www.openshift.com/legal/acceptable_use states the following: > While we strive to make our service as useful as possible, we don't > support all workload profiles on the OpenShift Online free service. > Distributed processing or other activities that continuously exhaust > a specific resource (e.g. CPU, Network, Memory) are not allowed. > Applications are allowed to consume available resources for a short > period of time, but not continuously. Because of this, your application has been throttled. The system will automatically turn throttling on and off as your usage levels change. You will not be notified about future throttling actions related to this gear. We encourage you to consider upgrading to one of our paid tiers where you will receive an increased allocation of system resources. Please see https://www.openshift.com/pricing for more information about our paid tiers and the benefits they provide. 7. It happened today at the bus. I was sitting at the corner minding my own business on my mobile phone (but looking around at the crowd from time to time). An old man and his lady were sitting on some seats. At the bus stop, three girls and a guy came into the bus. They sat close to the old couple. One of the girls immediately notified him that his clothes had some dirt on them. She offered to help him clean it up. The man thanked the girl for helping him and once she was over helping him, the bus had already reached the next bus stop. All four of those people left the bus at that stop. Some moments later, the old man figured out his wallet was missing and he started speaking out loud. It was then that I figured out what basically happened. The girl that offered to help him clean his clothes from that patch of dirt that mysteriously appeared on his clothes (maybe one of the group put it?) was simply a decoy. She was there providing diversion to distract the man while the rest of the team picked and exchanged the wallet between their hands. Curious enough, I did a search in youtube and google. And boy did I find a treasure, apparently this is not some petty thieves. This is an art practiced worldwide by very skilled and light-fingered people. Meet .... the pickpockets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia2b54srRZM

  10. You might have heard the news in this forum recently. There seems to be some new type of creatures called a fogspider. It supposedly is the product of GM Oracle's events and supposedly a creature that will attack you during fog. You are encouraged to attack them and kill them before they kill you. I call ###### ! This is part of a bigger evil plan conducted by a handful of staff members who had been planning for a vital change on the servers for ages now. It started with GM Oracle experimenting with the fog in the server settings and what we're currently seeing is the finalization and implementation of that plan that started back then. Here's the truth: The fog spiders are not hostile creatures. If you don't attack them, they won't attack you back. Ever wonder why the fogspiders come out only during the fog ? I will tell you why. Cause they need the fog. The fogspiders, eat the fog away. That's their primal role in nature. They come out and eat the fog so as the skies are again clear and we can sail in the waters safelly without getting lost and spend hours of sailing. A handful of staff members want to make the maps a dark and foggy place. That's their evil sinister plot that I'm exposing here today. With the implementation of new server crossing system that helped a lot shorten travel times, they now had to rush their plan. That's why you are seeing this new update regarding the fog and fogspiders. Don't kill the fogspiders. Help them help you by eatiing the fog away. #protectthefogspiders EDIT: Move to wurm discussion, wrong section -.-'
  11. At the heart of Independence continent, rests the famous Freedom Market. For the commoner, it's the must go place and for ages it has drawn the attention of common people. To the trained eye though, Freedom Market is not the defacto destination when visiting the central Independance. Something else steals the attention of he who looks a bit more carefully. A couple of feet west of Freedom Market is the Large Rat Inn. Exit from the west, walk down the highway towards the sea, turn right on the first Oak Tree you see. Through a couple of forest tiles, you can see at the distance the small pub, packed with horses and carriages just parked outside. Three years after I had graduated from siege engineering academy, I was still without a job, but most importantly, without any money. You see, a world infested by peace, is a hostile environment for us who thrive from war. I had decided to leave the past behind and redirect my engineering career towards smithery automatication. Smithing was the in thing back then. Everyone wanted to become a smith. The Mayor of Elarial Village, had arranged to meet me at theLarge Rat Inn to possibly give me a job at their smithery and if deemed worthy a house to live. I had previously contacted one of his village commoners after I saw their recruitment sign at Freedom Market. The meeting was short but Xylos was honest with me. The village was not doing good. Income was stagnating and if that would not change, they'd all sail to the new land that had just been discovered at the south edge of Wurm, Exodus. I talked to him about my ideas about a modern smithery. He told me that automatication was out of the question. There was just not enough time and room to setup the machinery needed to mass produce. We'd have to handcraft and sell all merchandise to make it in this harsh world full of economic wars. At the end of the day, I decided to take the offer. I didn't really have any choice. I needed food and I needed a roof. A small house, 1x2, but big enough to fit a forge and a bed, and a smithery, old but packed with talented crafters. We'd work from sunrise to sunset with a two hours break in mid-day. We'd lack a cookery, but the kind neighbors living a hundred feet north of us, would always provide free meals. I remember it as if it was yesterday. We'd sit by the meat barrel outside their village alongside with random travelers and people from the area. We'd eat and talk for as long as our break from work would last. Numerous were the topics. To this day, I wonder what happened to that girl that wanted to hatch dragons and to that fat cook that'd always claim salt in a barrel helps maintain food fresh. I wonder if that's a myth or not ... Time in Elarial went by fast. I worked hard alongside the other crafters, but it felt as if my crafts were not put to maximum use. I was an engineer, turned into a crafter. A man made to design machines to do his bidding, turned into a man following orders like a machine. And the work was not going great either. During the end of the month, while we'd have our usual talks over the food barrel at the neighbors, a fellow crafter delivered me the news. Xylos decided it was time to shut it down and sail to the new lands. Nothing officially said yet, but I know I could count on his words, he was always reliable. After all, everyone in the neighbor knew it, it was inevitable, sooner or later, it would happen. I was the last to figure it out though and they, they just wouldn't address the elephant in the room infront of me. Social conditioning you see, is a bigger infection than peace. At first I took the news like a man. I didnt break down, I kept my posture. But as the reality started registering in me, I feld the world was crumbling under my feet. People all around the barrel were consoling me but only to find out that I was inconsolable. It was three whole years without work and once I managed to settle somewhere with a steady income, it was all gone, as if someone pulled the rag under my feet. And then it happened. One of the locals pat me in the back. I had seen him a couple of times before. He wasn't the talkative type of guy. He'd regularly meet us at the barrel. He'd listen, but rarelly speak. He would never open himself up only maintaining fluffy talk about random things. "Aren't you the failed siege engineer ?" He said. "I might have a job for you. It might be crossing into some shady areas and will involve you taking some risks, but it will pay good, I promise. Besides, you don't have any other alternatives, do you ?". His name was Nosto and I wish I'd never met him ...
  12. Plan for a Plan

Open up the rest of Chaos borders, connect them to different servers of the freedom cluster.
  13. I hereby give my word that I will join the crusade, only if General Donald Trump leads it.
  14. True. But if it is not us, someone else will do it. That's the world we live in. In an eternal strugle of power between developed countries, this is simply an asset we can't ignore. I'm personally worried when only the US intervenes and gets all the benefits from it. We as EU, should get part in it and get our fair share from the pie.
  15. If those people are fighting our morals, we could just deport them all and live safely in our European Union. No need to waste so much money and resources fighting in a war that takes place thousands of miles away from home.
  16. I think it all starts with a basic realization. We, the west, are consuming all the resources from the east. All those tyrants were put in charge of the eastern and african countries, so as we could get their resources at a very low cost. Leaving those people alone, would mean giving them full control on their land and resources. And when we do that, I believe they won't be that much inclined to give em to us for free. I think the answer to your question Lancelot relies on another question, which is : Towards what state do we want to converge the situation there ? Do we want to return back to assuming full control, or to set them on their own path ? I believe that the superior civilization will always consume the resources of the inferior one. It just happens that we are the supperior right now, but we lost a bit of control in that area. We have to bomb the enemy personel, not the infrastructure, as we will need it functioning once we assume control of the area again.
  17. Ooo An opinionated blog that's hosted on a PaaS service. Nice I'll be following you. Here's an idea for article: Procedural quests generation vs community driven-generated goals. Do goals generated by the daily community gameplay needs surpass machine generated goals ?

  20. Right as we're speaking, two projectiles fall into a territory in war. One's probably a missile somewhere in Syria. It's fired from an airplane either from Russia or US targeting an ISIS or whatever target. The other's a rock shards fired from a catapult. It is probably targeting a location in either Epic or Chaos. We live in a world of contradictions and inequalities where people strive to control as much resources as possible while depriving everything from their fellow man. There exist people who protest about not having food or shelter, while there are people who protest because premium is 16 euro instead of 10. Inequalities create tension. When people are not living good, they look for something to blame. That's how fanaticism and hatriot is born. That's how enemies are born. That's how wars get started. The question's not if, but when.
  21. Weren't you in Jenn Kellon back when Jenn Kellon were winning ? I'm confused. But I remember you were Jenn Kellon back then.
  22. I agree Maurizio. Changing HotA into a more randomly distributed global event would help a lot boost competition. The reason nobody goes to HotA nowadays is because Mol Rehan have a very strong grip around it, making it impossible to contest it by anyone else. So we indeed need something like this. Demondan on the other hand I believe he has it completely wrong. This is not a case of administration, leadership, recruitment. This idea implies that capable recruiters exist in one side so one kingdom gets boosted and led to victory. The reality is quite different. The core Mol Rehan players that revived MR back in 2012 if I remember correctly, are the same players that years earlier were being stomped my Jenn Kellon. The current core Jenn Kellon players who are losing to Mol Rehan, are the same players that years earlier stomped them badly. Both sides have proved to have capable leadership and recruitment policy and still have the same core. So if the people didn't change, what did ? I believe what happens here, is small changes in a kingdom, have a very drastic effect on the winning tides. Getting a small advantage over the enemy in Wurm Online allows you to completely snowball the game. This snowball effect that has its roots on the game mechanics is what needs to be corrected. It's what JK did back then and what MR are doing nowadays. You don't have to look far away to find the reality. People are telling it themselves. They are not joining MR because they are "cooler" than JK or something. They simply say it, they want to be on the winning side.
  23. +1 Although epic players should get some skill adjustment.
