In this age of treasure hunting and increased exploration, it'd be nice to have a higher percentage of deeds on the map.

A lot of clues send to disbanded places. Would a separate map layer, with all deeds that have ever been, make sense? :P

You won't do this, because there are other players who have similar resources to yours at this stage of development of this server.

Also maps could be much larger.

Well, see, people will do this. Not for resources, but because it will be possible. People already do this with stone shacks and Mag altars, as described above. Your suggestion would make it even easier.

Bigger maps - different suggestion. And, how would you even imagine this? Resize existing maps? Delete current, create new? (rhetorical, don't even go there)

Not to mention, bigger map will either take a little more money, or a couple friends, and same thing will happen.

Might have more luck with WU update and play solo there.

  3. I'd like to see how this plays out.

Have 9 alts. Drop 9 deeds at 1s/month, in a 100x100 checkers pattern. Control 400x400 tiles of the map for just 9s/month.

For comparison, Pristine is roughly 2000x2000 tiles.

50 silver a month to control an entire PvE server.

    Your move.

can we expect servers to handle 5-800 NFI players(obviously mostly alts) AND 3-400 SFI players at a public dragon scale slaying without ensured downtime or playable servers when these events happen?

Since items don't transfer between NFI and SFI, would such a situation really occur? Well I guess it might if they all buy a new set of gear on the other cluster. But that's still quite a bit of effort and preparation before they can even join in on such events, I'd still expect that to prevent turnouts of such size.

For a public slaying, one only needs to sit in local to get the drops, sell it on spot, and take the coin back to home server.

Not likely with blood-only uniques, but with scale and hide it's possible to see much bigger audiences.

Have to hope the portals will be less of a lag-buggies than current normal server crossings.

Honestly, I would not feel alienated if the new nodes have some advantage. Only that the other ways were not just a remote chance.

I can add some stats to this.

All of that is from one evening,

    Logging started 2023-12-22
    [17:46:57] to [00:35:17]

Even at the worst RNGs, I do not believe that digging and botanizing have the same success chance.

    Spoiler

Digging gives different event message when finding one of these holiday objects.

     You start to dig.
     You dig a hole.
     You drop a dirt.
You find a weird metal object in the dirt.

    Foraging and botanizing

You start to forage in the undergrowth.
     You find a log.
You also find a strange metallic object.

You start to botanize in the vines.
     You find a hops seedling.
     You find some blue grapes.
You also find a strange metallic object.

So it's very easy to open your event log and do a general search and count.

Search "You dig a hole" (1080 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

Search "You find a weird metal object in the dirt." (4 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

Search "You start to forage" (30 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

Search "You start to botanize" (69 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

Search "You also find a strange metallic object." (49 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

And to confirm the total with regex search:

Search "you.*find.*object" (53 hits in 1 file of 1 searched)

  7. As with most things in Wurm, 100 is a bragging bonus :D

Toolbelts and dioptras/range poles are the only items I can think of, on which QL above 90 has any real meaning. Everything else takes damage and imping to 100ql makes no sense at all.

    Goes more into suggestions territory, but 100ql items should get a free "custom name" option, or extra rune slot, or whatever else one can think of;

and 100 skills really should get some permanent imping or creation bonus, similar to benediction effect on priests.

  8. I was improving bowls day before yesterday, when I first noticed these bug reports in CA Help. But all worked for me.

Yesterday, I was unable to improve those bowls. In the same forge, nothing in my "setup" had changed. Tried other forges, in another deed, and even in oven and inventory.

Today, I am able to improve them again.

    This indeed is weird bug.

Entities are not to be multiplied without necessity.

I think it's "beyond necessity", which can give it a little more relaxed meaning, if we really want to ;)

Sometimes you just really need to display that fantastic slate brick or the supreme potato. Is it greed? No, I already have the item. Is it desire to show off? Totally!

Well, maybe a little greed, because it's mine and I won't give it to you.

Another step towards garbage collecting, but we've long passed that threshold. The hundreds of everlasting goblin skulls on my lawn speak of it. And makes little sense to have a steel shield decay on table, and a bone in grass - not.

Remove decay completely, no from me.

Waxing feels also "too cheap and free".

But there have been suggestions to have display cases of all sorts, similar to magic chests. I think if one religiously wants to display their supreme potato, then to pay hard cash for such an item will be fair enough.

TLDR: dont let people know when a deed has fallen, so I am the only one and I can hoard every single bit from the old owner.

There's a rather big difference in going out to explore and finding a fallen deed by chance; and running to loot a place on an out-of-game mass media announcement.

If deed falls, I think for the alliance to get notified with "x has left the alliance" message is enough. It shouldn't even be server message. It shouldn't concern other, random players, in random far corners.

But I'm also a fan of records and history, so adding a fair delay to those server messages would be middle ground for me.

Had to edit and add a comment to this :)

    And that's all fine.

There is just the plea to discover some more kindness in ourselves, to quote the OP: "take some time to find the player first. It's the kind thing to do."

But, I mean... if you really-really had to sell that inscribed vase that Jennifer got from her grandmother, to secure your yearly mortgage... we can understand. 😏

  13. All rewamping aside, I think unicorns in wild should have their spawn decreased. More of them around than horses, makes no sense.

It was massively increased for personal goals, years ago. No need for it anymore, so please make them rare again.

B is nonsense.... marketplaces literally exist because of the tax

Why's that? 10% cut on all sales that goes to.. where, kingdom pool? How does this help the local market deed?

    My votes:

    1) branded and bridle'd horse able to "ride" without leading first

    2) discard archaeology fragments

    3) fix the slight misalignment when sailing with the "auto align" feature; last I noticed, it was inclined to the right. Bit annoying in canals.

My original idea was to simply account for and remove those irons from the economy.

Depends on how continous these auctions will be, but why not use that pot for some prized community events and competitions? Holiday themed screenshots, GM organized cow races, or even add some of those coins to treasure chests.

The balance of them is something we will be tweaking for sure before launch so thanks for all the feedback so far.

From balance point of view, also worth keeping in mind, anything that can be considered "an item drop" can be farmed by 10 alts for one player. Say, the special metal lumps, most possibly with special properties.

While (random) skill bonus most likely only applies to the very character that collects it.

    Just saying. It's all relative.
