  1. "Now what?" This is the correct question in Wurm. I think, if you are asking yourself this question, you're doing it right However, you cannot really expect the answer to come from someone else. You have to find your "next". That's the pain and the virtue of a sandbox game. When someone else starts telling you what to do next ... then it is just another mainstream MMO. New players most often struggle understanding it, though, and in their case a little "nudge" to the right direction is necessary. Personal goals, being more topical than ever, is not really a race to "win the game". It's just another thing to do on your list. And do this. If you cannot find your "next", take some time off. Play real life or other games. Life is a sandbox, too Personally I've got many things on to-do list and more often than not I find myself doing completely new things. I never planned to domesticate and breed 5-speed trolls, but.. one thing led to another.
  2. A couple thoughts related to starter deeds design in general, on the example of this Newspring contest. @Retrogradeand everyone. Shydow asked out loud what I was thinking by myself. Libilia colossus, all the fancy statues, PMK stuff - are these ok by "design rules"? Retro has said, the materials will be given to the builders, but as I understand, the players have to put the pieces together. We cannot build libilia statue, can we? And would we be given all these other statues, from archaeology and HoTA? Because let's be honest, Beardy's design would lose a lot of fancy points without those. And let's say these all will be granted to the builders. If a Freedom starter town is built like chaos fortress, would it be a honest first impression to players who spawn there? To see all the nice things... and later find out you actually cannot build them yourself. Then the question (actually more important than previous) about local community vs the rest of Wurm. Every starter town has developed a local community, more often alliance(s) of local deeds in the vicinity. Some of them are more vocal than others, but doesn't mean there is no activity in any of them. While I understand - every starter town belongs to every Wurmian - but is it really fair if people from Vrock, Howl, Dog or Flamma (random examples) get deciding vote in what Newspringians neighbourhood will look like for the years to come? As Thely said, Renate has asked many locals for their opinion and feedback before submitting the design and the local people are prepared to build it. Beardy submitted a very epic/chaos inspired design, then kind of retracted it, saying he wasn't actually interested in buiding it. Then changed his mind again and also has slightly modified the design. No offence, B, but come on - who paid you off? Plus, if contestants can modify their designs based on opinions given in the official, running voting thead, then the votes itself become kind of "cow's opinion". Moooooot point. Yes, my opinion is clearly biased, but I still think those questions are valid, no matter who wins ? Related, found this from the past. https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/138730-design-a-starter-deed/ Anyway. Apologies for making it too complicated.
  3. I think last night Oblivion was really close to just say "fck you, sod off, I never want to see you again, shooo!" and not even bother penning it again. Nobody cares about the loot anymore, everyone now just wants it dead. btw, I do care about loot, I'll happily take it all
  4. Access to the web page was blocked. Threat: JS/CoinMiner.AH potentially unwanted application Edit: Now good.
  5. Beardyman's is interesting, it somehow represents the nature of Newspring. A spring of land in the desert of seas, surrounded with high mountain walls from all sides (wow, poetic, I know) But it would feel too massive, too stronghold'ish for a remote place like it is Newspring. I'd rather it fit to something like Glasshollow. Renate's design does feel strange if you just look at it on the picture, because it does not have any of the local landscape around it. Newspring is surrounded with trees from 3 sides and these towers would blend in nicely. The 4th side is a small desert and the wooden palisade and towers make it feel ... nomadic, is the word? Nomad outpost. And of course, the mysterious sealspring underground, I do like this idea very much. My vote for Renate.
  6. Hey! Could you add the Newspring Bridge west-east line? Vertical is already in place and correct. To be added: (1175, -6905) to (1317, -6905) Thanks.
  7. Sorry, but I'm curious now.. what is the issue with these Amish deeds?
  8. Rift 10/11.08

Xanadu rift 10/11.08 On a hill side, slopey, and lots of trees. Cart accessible, fairly nice road all the way to the beam. Boats can moor at the Dragon Perch (disbanded) marker. https://niarja.com/rifts for your local time.
  9. +1 Mag is already unique because, apparently - erupt doesn't work anymore to melt reinforced walls. So Mag's disintegrate is the only thing other than deeding, to get rid of the pesky random reinforcements. If Mag wants a boost, make disintegrate success rate higher, right now it's borderline bollocks anyway. Also, with the priest and spell changes that we've been promised, it'd be a very appropriate time to break that one silly link between meditation and religion
  10. Add up the slopes when you climb to see how high you are *giggles*. That way you can get the approximate tiles you have to mine down (height/20) and may help to plan the tunnel. Think ahead, where your actual mine will be on the top deed to avoid any later "beat your own head with a stick" moments. Check the foot of the mountain where your tunnel will open up, if you spot any possible abandoned deed sites. Be very afraid of possibly hidden reinforced tiles. If you want to have catseye'd highway there at any point in the future, it has to be 2 tiles wide. Consider this when doing serpentine tunnels. All what Jberg and others said, with emphasis of having a friendly strongwall priest at hand. Do not reinforce anything before it is in final form.
  11. +1 to two animals on military tent. Also, why can't tents be repaired? Whyyyy ?
  12. I like the idea of maximum pages in a book depends on the quality of the book itself. There are many inns and guesthouses, it'd be cool to have a guestbook, where visitors can leave their greetings (with their unique, unfakeable signature; "I was never here! -Enki") Not sure if that's doable right now, what permissions does it require on deed/in house/on book, etc.
  13. Or we could take it a step further and add the village role to it. Retrograde [ Pyromaniac ] Spokesperson of Forum Warriors Freedom Isles. Gheen [Drunkard] Puny Peasant of Finality Freedom Isles. It could be turned off by the player, similar to meditation (Select which titles to hide, if any). And perhaps make it togglable (keybind!) if I want to see this information about other players (less clutter in big events).
  14. Bumpz! Make them require more Body Control than horses, but do make them rideable! Maybe give speed bonus when riding on rough terrain (no pavement).
  15. Red Dragon

Can boats get through that narrow trench west of Rainbow Lake into that little pond there?
  16. But could you increase unicorn spawn rates? Or at least remove the "wild" restriction in that goal and allow player bred animals to count. This was a hard goal even before the rerolls happened, but now there are more people who got it rolled to them! ? I'd much rather get my "kill drake spirit and eagle spirit" back...
  17. I'd much rather grind carpentry on my priest for the 99ql item goal, with all kinds of penalties, than try to find 100 wild unicorns...
  18. +1 I like that the process is automatic (after the "add page" clickfest), but I wish we could remove pages. Even if it means destroying the page, I sometimes just don't want that settlement information in this journal ?
  19. Rift 8. June

For your local times - https://niarja.com/rifts
  20. Is it just me or does the deed search not work anymore? Dropdown, select deed, nothing happens.
  21. Both bones have been bought. Shame on you, people! Is there really just one person in this world who knows what a dog's happiness is worth? If zombies attack, do you think your dog will help you? NO! Because it will remember this one time when you did not buy this magically delicious bone! Think about it, good wurmians. This bone can decide: your life or brainless death! One bone left. 19.99s + postal. If you order now, you will also get this very nice goblet for free. Perfect to fill with wine (not included), sit back, relax and watch your buddy chew on the bone. Disclaimer: if you actually give the bone to your dog and it does eat it, I will take no responsibility.
  22. Make uniques be able to break free from collapsed mines and give loot to killing hit. There, all problems solved
  23. Screenshots do no justice and everyone needs to have this place as "must visit" location on their travel map. I've been there, I will go back. It can very well be called one of the wonders in Xanadu.
