  1. Stills *STILL* decaying on deed almost half a year later....
  2. Hey Chakron, is there a plan to make 'defaults' for every registered user? Like some setting that when logged in, the main view should default to freedom isles or epic or a particular server rather than all together and having to sort trough them every time I click on niarja live?
  3. Haha sorry! Work & life had kept me away from Wurm Always welcome though!
  4. rise from the depths, my thread, rise I command you!
  5. rise from the depths, my thread, rise I command you!
  6. Thank you for your input, but respectully - my hardware config is not the issue Those params were while running wurm for ~20 min 55-58c is a normal average idle temp of my gpu (MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X in OC mode) considering I have 4 screens on meaning an avg load of 8-9% of TDP constantly in idle - you can google it.. On the other hand, not even at 100% utilization for multiple hours it won't pass 73-75c with only 50% fan speed. My cpu is super stable at that overclock - 3+ years of proven stability even (after extensive stress tests). I am an efficiency freak (and silent freak), so I actually managed to DECREASE the Vcore by -0.135 V while increasing the core clock to 4.0 GHz, while being rock solid. Max Vcore at 100% load: 1.088V. Everyone can OC, but how many can OC while undervolting ? Max temps at 100% utilization for 1h - 73-75c (just like my gpu). Again, waaay normal for the 3770k. I am building systems for over 20 years, not my first run of the mill. Trust me when I say that my hardware is not the issue...software isn't either if I am looking at how anything else besides wurm performs.... I would look into why wurm/java is not properly using the system resources/where the bottleneck is (as described in the op) rather than finding issues with my hardware
  7. Hello, I am indeed running a desktop and not a laptop. I am the manufacturer, so it will be a little bit difficult to download other drivers than the official ones. Do mind you, ALL other games/applications tested are performing as expected
  8. In OP I did say my cpu was already OCed I also said that being a new windows install, absolutely everything is up to date, using the latest drivers for everything Java 64 bit version 1.8.0_131 .NET Framework 4.7 nVidia Driver version 382.33 nVidia Experience is uninstalled BIOS for motherboard, GPU & SSD up to date if you have a specific idea on what to check please let me know and I will test it out If it would have been a driver/software problem (besides wurm) wouldnt that have been obvious in any other games? Heck, I even stress tested my system with furmark/prime 95/uniengine - all with drooling-li good results
  9. unsure about that, everything else works perfectly fine - I tested (and posted earlier in the thread) other games, performance, office, video, etc. - everything works according to expectations - so it is definitely not my system - it has to be java and/or wurm
  10. Uninstalling it dropped my performance to 15-17fps the only thing that made a difference is enabling multi-thread in my nvidia control panel for jp2lanucer and javaws - that made wurm run at 26-28 fps again, but not more
  11. officially 2 weeks since this thread was started any developer would like to have a look? for debug/future improvement purposes of course, not just for me personally - but for figuring out a glaring performance issue somewhere in (obviously) many higher end systems PS: ran the Uniengine Heaven Benchmark in Ultra settings with Tesselation to Extreme at Full HD and got avg. FPS of 95.7 - so the gpu is working as intended. Played War Thunder and Cities Skylines all on max (ultra or above) settings on 1080p at 130-340 fps. So the system is properly configured and works as expected.
  12. This thread is getting more and more hilarious the more I read Most players in here go like - there is a big problem Staff goes like - there is no problem, you are imagining it - also you have no clue what you are talking about This meme reproduces the staffs responses perfectly Well obviosuly the players have a clue, because we all see the stagnation in player numbers - mind you, NOT EVEN players, but accounts.... so even less people actually I touched this attitude in my previous posts and also in private convertations with most of the 'first line of contact' staff - with the same response I will argue that this IS the reason why this game is not taking off Oh something else, I have counted an amazing 85 staff members. At 2800 prem accounts, it comes to around a staff member for 33 players. LOL - you wouldn't say based on how dissatisfied people are with tickets So because of the nice rules present in wurm (there is a name for a system where you are not allowed to publicly question everyone in power, it's called communism - and before you jump to conclusions, I know what I am talking about, I was born in it), we are not allowed to cricicize the top 3% of the people that make the decisions for the rest of the 97%. That not only is a terribly horrible system, but also allows for no accountability. No accountability = lack of quality, as people are not held responsible. If anything the players are responsible if something goes wrong (see above posts). This is called politics. Of course no staff member will be judged and convicted by fellow staff members. For once they all know eachother, secondly it would create an impossible work environment and third IF a staffer actually gets fired, that would mean that code club would admit their wrong doing - and in the current system - nothing is wrong, see above. Only the United Nations is more bureaucratic than this (I know that as well, I worked there) Also wanted to touch on the 'it's the player's fault' issues - I have been playing for many years, logged in and had dealings with just about any GM ever. Why? because I push the game, and when I push it to the limits, it fails - pretty much always. Sure, there are people that could swear by the fact that this game runs perfectly, and it does - as long as you do not push the mechanics. This is like someone from a high income country (say Switzerland) saying that 3 Euro for a coffee is basically free. They forgot to mention that it is free for them at their income, not for someone in a low income country (say Colombia). The point of this paragraph is to say that dealings like rixk had, I experienced COUNTLESS times - with a sour taste in my mouth each time. Murphy's law - when people have a problem in a completely voluntary pay-to-play game and the authority that is meant to solve their problems not only does not do that but leaves them with a sour taste in their mouth - they will not be paying for much longer. The game is flawed. Errors and crashes in the game do not happen because of the users, but because of the game. Until the staff accepts that and starts acting accordinly, wurm will not gain many subscriptons. In my opinion, these are the true reasons why wurm is stuck where it is. Not because its lacking a better tutorial or UI or more bling.....
  13. Something else I noticed: the biggest impact on the FPS is the time of day During (some parts of) the night I get in my benchmark spot 26-27 fps During (some parts of) the day I get in my benchmark spot 43-45 fps IRRELEVANT of AA settings IRRELEVANT of stable or unstable client anyone else has ideas that I haven't tested already in this thread?
  14. I have checked all the time if there is some sort of limiter enabled, there is none. Proof is that on lowest possible settings I get 85 fps that is higher than my 60Hz refresh of my screen But if you have a specific location you want me to look, please let me know Adding javaws and jp2launcher to the nvidia control panel DOES do something. If i turn AA off there, no matter what AA settings I have in the wurm client, the GPU will not do AA (you can see that from the jaggedness of the outlines) I have said previously in this thread that I tested AA, and because AA is dependent on the GPU horsepower (and me having loads of that) - the difference between 16 AA and 0 AA is....ZERO, I get exactly the same identical FPS For me it makes a bit of sense, it's always all your cores without one. There are 6 core and 10 core cpu's around - and one core should be seen as a 'service' core. I don't understand the 2 or 4 thread settings though...maybe at such low power cpus you do want full utilization...? no clue
  15. I've reinstalled the graphics drivers (complete uninstall in safe mode, then using display graphics uninstaller to get rid of all traces, then restart and reinstall and restarted again) I've made sure the game is using the dedicated GPU (tested it on both for good measure, the intel HD4000 gets 4-5 fps at my settings) I've created application profiles for both jawavs and jp2launcher in the nVidia control panel and made sure both run with vsync off and max performance - and all other settings application controlled AND made sure that the nVidia panel uses the program settings So far from all my fiddling around, it went up from 24-25 fps to 27 fps.......
  16. Thank you for looking still yes - it would make you lose a lot of fps because your CPU only has 4 cores with 4 threads, so setting the config to 5 made it so that on one core you have 2 simultaenous model loading threads going on I have it set to 5 as I have 8 threads, but just for good measure I have set it to 3 as well, with no difference in frames per second
  17. I know this is pointless, but I have 5 minutes... (A) love how you only addressed that part of my post (B) you are proving the point of the code club's attitude towards issues, as described in my previous post in this thread - your reply is exactly that attitude 'meh, what do these people want now' - instead of taking the feedback and seeing how can things change, you dismiss it or prove it to be incorrect or pointless (C) so non exploitable bugs don't matter and do not deserve a reward? (D) to answer your question - its completely preposterous that in a game - more less a premium-per-each-character type game - there is no official support. By using forums you basically have a community support where SOMETIMES SOMEONE from staff looks into. What kind of system is this? Completely free games (mind you not like this limited form of free present in Wurm) have 100% staff response rate to user issues. The stupid part is that the community support is great an all, but the game isn't open source, so unless someone is really a beginner in how to use a PC, not much can be said and done from that side. Oh, and for almost 2 weeks there is a thread made by me in technical issues on the horrible performance with wurm on top-end systems. How can that dedicated QA member help? But I am sure there is a way to dismiss everything I have written here too I am sure of it, it is the Wurm way Bottom note: this is not a personal attack to you Retro - as a person, but criticism to Code Club's policies - that you, together with (most of) the staff are using, and I know how ingrate your job must be at times (like this). But you being the staffer that responds...
  18. Heh, time to put in my 2c in as well, although I am pretty sure three quarters of the community knows my opinions on the matter for YEARS stop bogging the system even more by releasing new content - no one will die if they don't see new content for a year (remember the old days?) priority - fixing bugs (especially visual bugs and bugs that can kill you, but all types of bugs should be targeted) MAIN PRIORITY - optimizing the game - geez guys, 11+ year old game that runs worse than AAA games of 2017 on the same hardware (the absolute first time this became a problem is when lighting was broken with the release of 1.0, before that things were fine) reorganize the staff and the process of helping players - forums are good for discussions, tickets are good for solving problems, MOTIVATE people to come forward with their issues - at the moment, the way code club is dealing with user-submitted bugs feels like 'meh, what do these people want now' instead of 'hmmm something is obviously not working, let's check it out' Sure it's far more fun to work on new stuff than to debug old stuff - but is it fun for the users? PS: and before anyone says anything about lack of resources/people - a long time ago Rolf was doing it all by himself - sure, we were standing on horses, and we didn't have fancy stuff like now, but the game was running WELL if he could do it alone, why cannot a team of...too many to count...do?
  19. Just for the fun of it, I set everything to as low as it can go or off And I mean low, i mean ABSOLUTELY lowest (lowest fov, lowest details everywhere) I am getting 85-87 fps, so no VSYNC limitations...but....man 85-87 fps??????? Sure I get 250+ fps looking at a cave wall or at the sky but.... needless to say it's unplayable
  20. @Darkshade thank you for the tip, I will try it out, but being a desktop I don't expect it to matter at all really - will test nevertheless @permo hah, good spot, I haven't changed any setting for 5ish years, yeah I can increase that, but probably to 4096 just in case I want to run multiple clients
  21. Thank you for your time of taking all those screenshots after adjusting the settings to match yours, I got: 29-30 fps.... You gave me an idea to check the unstable client though, and that yielded a net difference of.....zero....still 29-30fps
  22. Thank you, using the exact same settings as you I get: 29-30 fps on AA16 29-30 fps on AA0 only difference is that in one case my GPU runs at 1.53 GHz (AA16) and the other time at 0.94 GHz (AA0) - but with the exact same usage of ~30% loads of power in that GPU left untapped Thanks about the Vsync, it was set to on, i set it to off and I set the whole control panel to application controlled - didn't change anything but good hint
  23. There is no such option in the nvidia control panel. the GPU choice is selected through the Virtu MVP Panel CPU cores are unparked
  24. Okay, now that sounds like normal for your configuration... Yes my extreme profile is exactly that, everything maxed out as far as it would go - dosen't matter what - and all 'helping hands' like LOD or culling disabled The SSDs are separate and not raided so that can't be an issue The 3770k at 4.0GHz is actually faster than the 4770k at stock The GTX 1070 is faster by about 25% than the R9 Fury Well, before I bought this card I had an AMD HD6970 that was handling around 40-50 fps at mid-low settings. But a 6870 is about 415% slower than what i have now. Plus the screenshot I took shows that literally nothing on my system is close to peak use.... Thank you for your willingness to help but I just have zero clue what even to ask....maybe screenshot your Game/Sound/Graphics/Adv. Graphics settings from the launcher for me? In compatibility nothing is checked/selected on my end anyway @Saroman - howcome a system that is slightly weaker can do 115fps@2560x1440 with ABOLUTELY everything maxed, just like me - when I cannot even do 60fps@1920x1080?
  25. fresh default set of gamesettings.txt (mind you with a lot of stuff on medium, not even close to extreme) I get around 33 fps so +8 fps on average....
