  1. Please remember that he already said that he has two forges (50 and 54ql, he told me) previously made that do generate ash, its only the new ones that dont - despite being higher ql
  2. hi! Wonderful software & I use it all the time I noticed a TOTALLY MINOR BUG so whenever you work on the client...or are bored (haha ) The updater goes to 105% ? This is a seriously small problem, almost feeling guilty for reporting it but.....you know, its like the sound going to 11
  3. Yep - far too much work trying to circumvent inherent limitations of an ancient language (sorry, but java is not the right tool for a game...., and I am not sure it ever was) A metaphor if you will: Instead of spending time and effort trying to beautify an old car to look nice, it will never reach the same level of fuel efficiency/comfort as a new car, even if the new one is not top of the line. And the new one has headroom for expansion as well... To continue with the metaphor - only a select few will appreciate the well maintained old car, but for most people it will be unattractive, and they would prefer a newer car to start with as it will surely have less issues. and perhaps a more crass methaphor: a pile of poo, even a beautiful one, still remains a pile of poo... So I am +100'ing this - wurm definitely needs a new engine, where you do not need the latest i7s and the latest GPUs to render 20 lights..... or to manage to reach 60 fps in full cinematic mode (and yes, I got both and I can't reach 60 fps with max settings)
  4. [14:29:34] The items silently disappear from the spirit castle. You expect them to arrive in less than ten minutes. Thank you very much! Enjoy!
  5. Fully disagree - the game and chat rules can ONLY be found on the Wurm Forums. Because of that the forums ARE part of Wurm Online. Without using the forums you cannot function properly in the game (a big problem I addressed with the staff a LOT of times) But I don't want to derail the topic. So I won't reply further on this topic
  6. If via an API your personal wagoner can already set up the delivery to the person that won the auction for bulk goods Via another API see on the trading website if delivery in progress/delivered etc. Via API individual items sent by your Merchant stocking that specific good via COD to the buyer etc. So in other means truly automated Merchants (like real ones lol)...then I am all for it. BIGGEST ISSUE that I see is...with full transparency, the prices for products will continue to decrease at an even higher rate....because only the lowest or almost lowest offers will get accepted - seeing all prices for a specific product. Wurm Market isn't self-regulating, because frankly it is too small for that - too few buyers, so therefore prices will just drop....faster than in a non transparent market Because of that - only as a "yet another 3rd party website" for wurm....i'd have to say no.....
  7. Aaaaaaand....here is the answer
  8. This is a tremendously poor thread - because of the way the question is asked Expensive or cheap depends on (1) the gamers purchasing profile (thrift vs impulsiveness), (2) their financial status and (3) the country of residence -- among other things 50 eur a month is close to nothing in first world countries, or its more than a month's wage in quite a few countries. Also please note that the game is developed in Sweden - a country with VERY high wages. A lot of first world countries cannot even rival with their standards. For them, a 2 month prem for a char is about the same as buying once a sandwich from a street vendor - I am not even kidding, I lived in Stockholm for about a year. If Code Club AB would move to a low income country, then all of a sudden the game becomes A LOT cheaper, because the wages (that make up the vast majority of the expenses in a gaming company) would be dramatically reduced. The better question here would be how expensive is Wurm in comparison with other games (similar or not) that offer or not similar enjoyment to the user. And there I have to say that Wurm is incredibly expensive for what it offers. The vast majority of MMO games nowadays are free with paid options. And they make tremendous profits. And they look fantastic. And they are free, totally. and. utterly. free. And your jaw would drop at their update logs...... Sure - you can compare Wurm against the average, or even say that Wurm is so much better than so many.....but do you really want to compare Wurm to the average? That already would showcase the lack of expectations to develop a quality game further.
  9. All done. can be closed
  10. be part of the record setting team and find out! :)))))
  11. Hi all, we are in a pickle atm - our wonderful panfilling friends that helped us again and again aren't available at the moment - and we are under some time pressure to break a (the) record (I don't want to say more publicly until we've done it, if we make it) So we are looking for one or two able-bodied people that have done panfilling in the past and know how to do it fast and would like to help us right now at the end for a short while (with a high efficiency panfiller, we should be done in about 3h, with two - even less) and can come to Xanadu (we can offer vteleports if not used before - or just make a new char and tp?) - would be tremendously appreciated! Hope to hear from you soon! Thor & Inspira
  12. Via Wagoner connected to the greater Xan highway system or pickup at Q11 (ocean access). 10k available, 2s/k, 5c per crate if delivered per wagoner, but I will accept their return and will pay 5c for the empty crates back. You can PM me in game or here, same name

  14. I said this many times over, Ill say it in this thread too. The dying economy drives existing players away. Massively. I know for sure a total of 16 (yes SIXTEEEN) people that lost interest in the game because they cannot sell anything worth their time anymore. In a game that is struggling, this is the last thing you want to do - drive people away. Sure, there are - and always will be - hermits that will want to do everything on their own, and I have nothing against that type of people, but I will argue that they have far less influence on the game as the ones that are actively trading and exchanging items. Because you see, those have all the interest of having MORE trading partners. That motivates those people, at least in theory, to tell others about this game in the first place. The argument that once you reach high end skill you don't need to buy stuff off the market is quite false. I regularly buy things I cannot make, like low ql logs and low ql iron, and even rare stuff I cannot be bothered to spend 100 hours creating. Now the real ELEPHANT in the room is WHY the market is been dying since I joined wurm 6+ years ago. Is because of the constant increase of average skill in the game. The more skill you have, the fewer items you need, the more you can sustain yourself. This is basic logic. But because accounts can be sold when people get bored (due to the failing economy as one of the reasons) - their accounts do not die off, but they get repurposed by being bought out. So instead of the average skill in any skill being constant over time (by new players joining and old accounts dieing), the average skill in any skill is increasing all the time. Now, even those that bought the new accounts, quickly realize that they cannot use them to make money...because of a dieing economy - that creates the vicious cycle that is driving population numbers down, the economy down and the interest in wurm down. And before anyone goes on a rant....there are only 3 types of players in wurm at core: hermits, traders and fighters. Number-wise, absolutely the largest part are the traders. They should be the focus if you want Wurm not to die off. The solution is simple: ban the sale of accounts, but not of silver. That boosts the economy in all aspects, whilst keeping the incentive of getting real money from your work in wurm. Heck, that would motivate some people to play wurm more hours per day even, to better their chars rather than just buying one... PS: how that ban should work, mechanics-wise, is not my place to say, the devs are paid, they know what is possible in wurm, they can come up with ideas. And sure, there will always be some stray accounts being sold here and there that escape the wurm account sale ban, but arguably far too few to seriously jeopardize the normalization of average skills
  15. Haha, nope - as the catseyes are not zigzagging there are two full rows and finding routes is not affected at all either so all good!
  16. Dear Xanadians! (and everyone else reading this) We have created a fully fledged connection between the mainland and Newspring. Starting now, you can send your wagoneers and find your way to Newspring (and vice versa) in style. I introduce to you: the Newspring Connection Highway. The highway connects the main highway system built in these areas by Harthim to the the absolutely stunning bridge system made by Shmeric: Key Facts: 887 tiles (3.55 Km) long Broken ground: November 27th, 2016 - Finished: February 4th, 2018 Materials needed: far too many to count, in bricks alone estimated 29k, dirt well over 50k 130 tile long, 3 wide tunnel 3 bridges, two of which maximum length (38 tiles) and witdth (3 tiles) This highway was designed based on a philosophy: making travel as fast as possible. Because no other highway design would have been appropriate to connect into the majestic Newspring Bridge. That is the reason why this highway is (perhaps) one of the most advanced highways in wurm, with maximum slopes of 5 (except for a single 25 tile section of 15 slopes), using bridges over valleys, tunnels through mountains and carved passes - making up for some beautiful scenery along the way. However this would have not been possible without an amazing team: Shmeric Naiani Gheen Rockshadow Inspira Harthim Cevanne Ketha Jacobsilver The Anonymous Donators (people that did not want recognition, but should be recognized) Below you can find a few screenshots grouped on some of the highway's features. But if you are in the neighborhood, you should definitely go and check it out! The main highway connection Thunderstorm Expressway Valley and bridge Resilience Pass The Defiant Connection Golden Mt. Passage Wombat Way Newspring Bridge Connection I wish you safe travels and good fortune! All the best, Thor
  17. Okay, here are my 2 cents. I havent read what everyone here said but....I do agree with the complete lack of motivation to do missions anymore. If you guys have any statistics about completing missions on Xanadu you will notice that most missions never got touched or finished - even if a single kill or a single action could award a player 30 minutes of SB If back then a lot of missions never got finished, what motivation do you think the people will have now to finish them? I do get the argument that there are other ways to get SB, but is that REALLY a good argument to take away the rewards of the few people that actually did missions in the first place? I agreed almost never with JakeRivers in his posts, but this time I fully agree, you shouldnt take actions to remove the enjoyment of the (very limited amount) of people that engage with a feature of the game in the first place. 1) If you wanted to slowly kill off the feature - continue on this path 2) If you wanted to enchance the feature - this is the absolutely wrong direction If you want to achieve 1) - there are simpler ways to do that Well anyway, just my 2 cents
  18. Pushing on with this.... everyone got answers but me.... Here is a screenshot of task manager with the RAM when loading (notice the spike and notice the free ram etc (its the one called "Frei" - Verfügbar means available) - game loads for a sec then quits (as you notice from the RAM load drop)
  19. +1 - things need to match in wurm , not be like you built your deed from whatever materials someone else discarded....
  20. Thank you for some fantastic input! Of course everything has to be weighed out and balanced in this point system 2000 dmg = killing 20 hounds, not that much in my oppinion 50fs will definitely get more than zero, but that should be a motivation for people to skill up? added it to the system in OP added it to the system in OP I love the idea, I will add it into the OP. The issue of people bringing alts is only an issue for priests and there arent many at a rift in the first place, much less ones that can actively steer alts into the fight and fight themselves and heal...seems to be quite ok for me I built this system to be fair and reward each player what they deserve - if a beginner can get 40-50% of the score of a "PvP elite" then there is no point in me even skilling for years and years. I might just as well stay as a free char if I can get comparatively more points for my actions than the top tier players I find this ideal for proper healing at a rift, and will reduce the issues with the points 1 and 5 I would not exclude them completely, but indeed could be a SMALL problem (who brings free alts to rifts AND who steers them in combat?) - so for them 1 point for wound healed (as they will be typically large wounds in a rift for a beginner) Thank you very much for this, it helped me improve the system!
  21. Based on a discussion I had in Freedom but also on the results of - oh so many rifts - I, together with a lot of others, believe that the point distribution system in a rift is not fair. And I say that because: priests can get to some insane point scores no one else can and people that use tactics like tagging will get more points than the people actually killing the rift beasts. That is why I am proposing the following ultra exact system: For fighters: every rift beast has a total point value. Let's say a hound has 100 points total. Higher mobs have 100* modifier based on their actual difficulty - for example if a rift ogre is 5x the difficulty of a hound, it would have a total of 500 points. points are awarded based on actual damage done - for example if you deal 67 dmg (so 67% of its health) to a hound and it dies you get 67 points. If you do 3 dmg to an ogre and it dies, you get 15 points (500*3%) tagging gets you nothing, only damage counts For priests/healers: they use the same point system from attacking mobs for every 100dmg healed they get maximum 100 points, see the point below on why. So if during a LoF (inside the rift zone, 50% of the points within 10 tiles of the rift zone) they heal 2.33dmg on one player and 3.44 dmg on another, they will get for that LoF 6 points (5.77 dmg healed, rounded up). This has no modifier as LoF is the same for all players. This point system applies to all healing spells: cure light, cure medium, etc. every player attending the rift gets a pool of 100 points that they can share when they are being healed based on a 1 point = 1 dmg healed system. Once a player depleted their healing points for that individual rift - every subsequent heal will generate a flat 1 point per heal. players individually healing other players will use the same 1 point per 1 dmg healed as priests no points for self-healing or LT healing priests/healers will get a flat 1 point for healing free players at the rift, for every wound healed due to Fo priests not being able to mine or cut down rift resources after the end of the rift, they should get a bonus to the resources they get in their inventory The priests will be fighting less, but also getting potentially much more from a LoF because its an area of effect spell - so overall should even out the potential points with actual fighters, solving problem 1 listed above The fighers that do the most damage will get the most points, which should be just fair, solving problem 2 listed above. Also overall the system is way fairer than how it is today. Oh and there need to be no calculations on how far you are from the mob, if the mob healed etc. if you did dmg, you will get points. Simple as that. What do you guys think? Also - for the priests out there that will more than likely comment - please don't freak out, I want to be fairer to all, considering rewards are given based on final ranking, and fighters can never get to those scores....
