  1. Welcome to the new comers, glad to see others finding the place again now. The whole bay area is looking like its coming along really well.
  2. Private servers open up a whole can of worms... People will immediately set about altering leveling systems and other modifications. It takes the game from being a unified mmo and changes into something that is quiet different, and honestly I feel it is poorly designed for such.
  3. Sent a pm your way Docterchese, nice to run into you again. Thank you to the others for the offers.
  4. Hey, returning to Wurm after a few months away and decided that instead of rebuilding my personal deed that I would rather find a group to sign on with. Open to pretty much anywhere in the freedom isles, as I have been exploring from a ship since getting back. I have what I need to supply myself where-ever I land to get settled again in cargo. Have played on Exo over the fall/summer, and have some basic skills mostly centered around farming (51), carp (45), woodcutting, forestry etc. around the same. I usually play 2-3hours/day avg in a week, depending. -Premium -GMT -6 -I speak only English fluently, I'm fine with using voice coms. Would like to find a small, early in development village if possible. I don't mind pitching in some coin to help out either as I know space can be a pain. Feel free to pm any question if I have left something out, and thanks for any advice!
  5. "Complete and total isolation" o_o That doesn't sound fun at all, but that's just me. I tried to think of single player wurm style game to suggest to you, but couldn't really come up with one. Best I could come up with is that some other mmo versions of crafting like games like Xsyom that have a much more isolated feel/community to them, best of luck looking though.
  6. Yeah I know, This isn't my dream game, thanks for catching that tips.
  7. I don't expect any of this would ever actually be done, just my quick "dream list": - Change the entire currency system. All you should ever be able to purchase in the shop is a sub and cosmetics. Remove traders, have all economic activities done by the players. Also remove the free-to-play, replace it with a 14 to 21 day trial. Allow the player sale of purchased subs ingame if they wish to "buy" coins. Have coins be a craft-able item of a kingdom out of metals. (have it re-melt-able), and identified to the name of the kingdom. In other words, let the players manage and run the economies and currency. -Remove the current deed system, its stupid. Replace it with one that is based around the concept that a villages area of control is based off of two things, the villages population, and a proportional upkeep needed of ingame materials. (Things like guards should require a special building and increase the upkeep cost.) -Redo the maps, every last one of them is pretty much an ugly archipelago to maximize coastline. This makes ports not special. Design it to look like an actual landmass, with some larger (small boat sail-able) and smaller rivers, mountain ranges (not blobs), low marshes etc. Distribute and limit resources in a manner that promotes scarcity of certain ones in certain areas. ie: Metals should be more so in mountains/rougher terrain, certain crops restricted to certain areas or certain seasons. This promotes trade, and interaction. -Full pvp with the exception of certain safe area around spawn for the nubies. How to fix combat I leave to the better informed, but I'm certain it needs a lot. I do know that kingdoms need to be completely player done. The existing system sounds stagnate and overly ridged. -Character models and animations. Its 2012, be nice to be caught up with the times before the world ends. Also many actions are missing sound effects. This damn well needed if your going to advertise on today's market without looking like a very old game. -Remove the mail system completely. Replace it with player made contracts for couriers. -Remove enchanted grass. Tired of seeing mountains of animals living forever without care off the stuff. They want to keep 50 animals, make em work for it. -Make guard towers require a resource supply for upkeep. As they are now they remove the need to hunt. -Give produce decay in storage. It good to have scarcity of resources in a game, specially food and farming needs it importance restored. -Redo the UI, its ugly. The use of macros is of far less concern then the loss of possible players. ***Basically, lots of people constantly say Wurm is "hard" or "complicated". Its anything but really, perhaps its scary and unforgiving when starting out, but there is certainly nothing hard about using drop-down menus and reading a wiki. Everything is based around simply grinding lvls for the sake of grinding lvls. Later in the game there is likely very few this appeals to, and many more suffer burn-outs from it. Give it diversity, give it challenge, and give some bloody social interactions. With a little bit of freedom to organize themselves the player bass is driven and smart enough to take of the rest.
  8. +1 Also; 1) Rename the bloody chat tabs, global and freedom, or even better the servers actual name. 2) and make so we can pull the chat boxs apart. Hate having to tab constantly through them.
  9. Thanks for the offers! Will make some miles this weekend and check them out.
  10. Title gives the basic gist, looking in freedom for possible new home. If you have an idea of spot, please feel free to post it or a link even and I'll check it out. My better-half and I started play a few months ago, she decided wurm was not really her digital crack, so that with many neighbors having moved off its gotten a little to quiet in my current spot. I'd like to find a place is more like a town or village in nature rather then just people and animals all living collectively in a one room mega-house. I may be crazy for looking for this, but wth. Click for details: Some thing I'm trying to look for: -Decently active group, but not a massive long established town from the dawn of the map. -Something that is not a dictatorship or a collective. Take this as you will, I'd like to still be able to maintain some private property or land to homestead on. Whether that be on one deed, or as an allied deed. Don't paying coin where coin is due for such. -As well I don't want to be handed list of chores. Be glad to help out where I can, when I can though. Some things I can offer: -Notable skills: 48 farming, 43-40carp/WC, 30 forestry/mining, bunch of other odds and ends as expected. (poo all fighting skill though.) Pretty much gearing towards farming, forestry, and a bit of cooking etc. -Not looking for handouts, have gear to care for my needs, be glad to share what I can. Also can transport myself. -Cake party... planning? -Oh! I'm still a godless heathen! That's a selling point right? I'm in my mid-20's, just finishing up uni and working a professional bean counter. Umm, GMT -6, but play time can be all over the place, you know how that goes. XD I don't have any problem using skype, ts, vent etc. when I am able. I play kinda thematically with my toon, so don't expect to find me grinding digging just cause. Might seem silly to some, but for me it gives playing wurm a bit more purpose, which keeps me playing it. Also means I won't be moving till the wurm fall, don't want miss all the harvests!
  11. No, no, and absolutely not. At the utmost a council could be arranged much like CSM in eve to provide a place for the team to touch base with the community, but the design, final say, and overall direction on project, (specially one with a small entrenched community,) must come from the devs themselves. I don't want to play some "community project" mmo. Besides wurm has a massive list of technical problems to deal with as is, and I'm certain most of us can agree they are pretty obvious already.
  12. If its empty, let us pick up completed ones like any other container. Its just silly and serves no game mechanic purpose I can think of to have non-movable furniture. :\
  13. I hate thumbs, I want a five star rating system! >
  14. Hey, just wanted to say that how you use the alliance system to make a village that is not the typical pick communist collective or authoritarian regime is really nice. Glad to know that there is such out there if I ever un-nub myself.
  15. If you have not played it, I'd highly recommend Evil Genius.
