  1. You know, whenever we work on the citadel, I'm always telling to myself "Rolandt and Yurik would be proud of us if they were here". TLR has been worked by so many hands that every bit of section of it, has the tamperament of various legendary individuals of Chaos. Some of them are now enemies, but whatever, truth be told, we've stepped on the footsteps of giants to build something amazing.
  2. To the top ! A citadel so tall, the heaveans will crack and the sky will fall.
  3. It's quite possible to play as freedom and even have influence and villages as freedom. But from what I know Freedom does not get to have a Chief.
  4. Disclaimer: This is part of a series of guides I'm doing to introduce Chaos to newer players and to people from freedom who wanna venture in the wild lands of Chaos either alone or as part of a kingdom. What kingdoms are there in Chaos ? There are currently six kingdoms in Chaos as per kingdom influence game mechanic: Empire of Mol Rehan, Jenn Kellon, Black Legion, Ebonaura, Freedom Isles and Horde of the Summoned. While Freedom Isles and Horde of the Summoned are default kingdoms that anybody can join, the other four kingdoms are player made. This means that they exist more like the clans and guilds you've met in other popular mmo games. They follow certain rulesets that vary from kingdom to kingdom and an invitation must be issued to join any of them. What is the kingdom influence ? Kingdoms occupy land by forcing themselves on it and taking it from enemy. Influence is generated by towers that belong to a kingdom and the total kingdom influence is the sum of all those individual tower influences. Towers can change hands as kingdoms can attack enemy kingdom towers or bash them. Influence as a consequence changes accordingly. As of the writting of this guide, this is the official influence as presented by the game Mechanics in influence ranking descending order. Kingdoms with over 1% Influence [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Empire of Mol Rehan: 24.92 [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Jenn Kellon: 13.77 [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Black Legion: 1.87 Kingdoms with less than 1% Influence [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Freedom Isles: 0.95 [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Ebonaura: 0.68 [22:03:47] Percent controlled by Horde of the Summoned: 0.30 What are the kingdom alliances ? While the term alliance can't be considered the appropriate one, affiliations between kingdoms do exist. The Empire of Mol Rehan are known to be affiliated with Ebonaura while Jenn Kellon and Black Legion have been affiliated on certain situations too. No facts exist that affiliated the Horde of the Summoned or the Freedom Isles with any other kingdom. Who is Empire of Mol Rehan ? Empire of Mol Rehan is currently the strongest kingdom in the server occupying the majority of the land. It's been in the server almost since it's beggining and it's current form has been in game since raiding was enabled again in Chaos back at about 2012. The Empire of Mol Rehan is in active war with Jenn Kellon and Black Legion. The current Chief is Christa and the Chief is elected from the base every couple of months. The Empire of Mol Rehan is a white light kingdom that follows Magranon. Who is Jenn Kellon ? Jenn Kellon is the second strongest kingdom in the server. it's been in the server since it's beggining and has been in game since raiding was enabled again in Chaos back at about 2012. The Jenn Kellon kingdom is in war with the Empire of Mol Rehan and Ebonaura. The current Chief of Jenn Kellon is Aramisii and the Cheif is elected from the base every couple of months. The Jenn Kellon kingdom is a white light kingdom that follows primarily Fo and secondary Vynora. Who is Black Legion ? Black Legion has been in the server since early 2014. It has been a branch of the older Horde of the Summoned kingdom that followed an independent way and settled on the lands previously owned by Horde of the Summoned. The Black Legion kingdom is in war with Empire of Mol Rehan and Neutral stance with Ebonaura. The current Chief of Black Legion is Tiu and the Chief is elected from the base every couple of months. The Black Legion kingdom is a black light kingdom that follows Libila. Who is Ebonaura ? Ebonaura has been in the server since early 2014 about the same time as Black Legion. It has been a branch of both Mol Rehan and Horde of the Summoned players created shortly after Black Legion branched off Horde of the Summoned as well. Since the old Horde area was occupied by Black Legion, Ebonaura was forced to relocate North in a more isolated section of the map away from the border. Ebonaura is in war with Jenn Kellon. The current Chief of Ebonaura is Maurizio and the Chief is elected from the base every couple of months. The Ebonaura kingdom is a black light kingdom that follows Libila. Who is Horde of the Summoned ? Horde of the Summoned is what remains after Ebonaura and Black Legion branched off the original Horde of the Summoned kingdom. The remaining players that didn't wish to participate in any of the newer black light kingdoms stayed as the Horde. Horde of the Summoned has not been with war against any kingdom since it's not an active kingdom but more like a placeholder currently. The current Chief of Horde of the Summoned is Cortana and alt played by the Mol Rehan player named Leaf. The Chief is named Emperor and is not elected. The Horde Emperor is randomly chosen by the Cobra King NPC. Who is Freedom Isles ? Freedom Isles is a remnant from the days where no raid was allowed in Chaos and everyone was forced to be Freedom. No players are currently playing as Freedom Isles in Chaos as an organized group although hermit players have been seen on occasion roaming around the starter villages.
  5. Bump. Epic fight yesterday against Ebonaura and Mol Rehan. Recent events in the north-western area of Chaos has led some of our friends and foes over there to lose their faith to Libila. Libila was not pleased as those Ebonaurans had stopped praying to her latelly in favor of Tosiek and Najho. Libila called her beloved unholy creatures from the south to restore faith up in the north. Rasu,Wirano(Kingen),Bangzuvelis, Blackmonk and Jayz(Tuga) answered her call. They went to Ebonaura lands to do her bidding. Intel by our spy network indicated that a new Eboanura member named Steveg was the arch fake priest of the anti-libila cult. Our sworn fighters visited his place and demanded some explanation. Steveg was not particularly reluctant to give any. Instead he called for reinforcements and in a show of power, proceeded to spit on the altar of Libila. Our fighters didn't take this lightly, they rushed to the enemy and slaghtered them all. [07:19:36] Steveg is dead. R.I.P. (no tabs but loot) [07:26:16] Hellsgardian is dead. R.I.P. (no tabs but loot) [07:37:13] Evarya slain by Wirano Rasu [07:38:05] Zaffasurf slain by Wirano Rasu Later on, they visited another Ebonaura village where the traitors of Libila were once again desecrating one of her unholyness altars. This time, the sense of responsibility from the Black Legion members was at it's peak. They didn't hesitate to ask for an explanation. Libila guided their swords and hammers and smashed the breastplates of two more Ebonauran members.Middi was the first to go down. Pimprage tried to make a run for it only to be chased down by Wirano. Wirano swinged his weapon with brute force. Lore has it that Pimprage was thrown 5 feet backwards from the powerful blow that made him fall to the ground dead. [13:40:39] Middi slain by Blackmonk Wirano Rasu [13:42:41] Pimprage slain by Wirano The night progressed and Ebonaura's were not surrendering. Instead they gathered more members and later on the leader Maurizio was summoned by the fake gods to coordinate Ebonaura's counter attacks. On the meanwhile, Libila noticed the increasing forces of the Ebonaurans and ordered her triump cards to join the events. Three of libila's favourite children and undisputed Champions of Libila, Kingen,Daolin and Issle were joined by Jibberish on a boat and sailed towards the North to support their comrades. Their comrades were now pushing closer to Umbra, the Ebonauran capital on a 5 vs 9 fight in which they were winning against all odds. Two more ebonauras met their end shortly after. [14:21:56] Dridmar slain by Bangzuvelis Blackmonk Wirano Jayz Rasu [15:31:07] Dropdeadfred slain by Bangzuvelis Blackmonk Wirano Jayz Rasu The pressure was high and the initial group of Black Legion was planning to retreat. The second Black Legion boat, sporting Jibberish and the Champions did not make it's presense known to the enemy as their role was to get their comrades into safety and not initiate agressive action against the fellow Black lighters of Ebonaura. Things though were not planning to go as expected. While the first Black Legion crew was now retreating towards their boat events took an unexpected turn. Mol Rehan ! A boat of five Mol Rehan, sporting the mighty crew of Arachnadelphia, the former west crown of Mol Rehan made its presense known in local . The Black Legion members started retreating with their boat but being inside the Ebonaura's port bay, gave the Mol Rehan enough time to cross-cut their route and get into fighting distance. Both boats had five people, so getting away from that fearful MR boat was not an option. The Black Legion boat started getting hit bady. The captain was targeted first and went down. [16:19:32] Wirano slain by Tulemees Robus Reasons Argyllion Shadowedlight With four remaining members and as a result with less speed, the first black legion boat was doomed to death. But not yet. Not before they'd play their triump card. As the first Black Legion boat was heading away, the Libila's champions made their appearance. On the sight of Black Legion's 2nd boat, Mol Rehan panicked. They instantly stopped chasing and turned back heading towards Ebonaura port. Issle and Kingen started casting their powerful libila spells on the backsets of the Mol Rehan boat. Daolin was captain and commanding the boat towards the Mol Rehan boat. Argyllion went down first and now the Mol Rehan boat being slower, allowed both Black Legion boats to catch up to them. [16:21:44] Argyllion slain by Kingen Blackmonk Issle Daolin Jibberish [16:22:38] Shadowedlight slain by Kingen Blackmonk Issle Jayz Daolin Rasu Jibberish Argyllion and Shadowedight fell first. Robus was the next target. While Robus was going down also, Mol Rehan managed to dock into Ebonaura's port and were joined by Ebonaura members who saved them from certain death. The Black Legion army decided to pull back as they were facing two kingdoms together on under-maned boats. We sailed back to our mainlands with great loot from both Mol Rehan and Ebonaura, but most of all with a great experience and a lot of fun. The waters won't be safe. Not anymore. Cause sharks are lurking ... >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV8i-pSVMaQ
  6. Disclaimer: This is part of a series of guides I'm doing to introduce Chaos to newer players and to people from freedom who wanna venture in the wild lands of Chaos either alone or as part of a kingdom. Advanced Catapulting This is an advanced catapulting guide based on the previous guide I wrote so be sure to read that one first before reading this. Prerequisites Spyglass x1 Catapult x1 Projectiles An area to practice Introduction - Theory In Wurm Online, catapults are using the parabolic path formula to throw projectiles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projectile_motion). A projectile will be launched at about 70-80 degrees in angle from the flat plain. The more winch, the more initial velocity the projectile will have. The initial velocity determines how far up the projectile will go and as a result how long it will stay on air. The longer it stays on air, the further away it will go. In a flat surface, each catapult winch will add enough tension to the catapult so as the initial velocity will guarantee a +4m more from previous winch. Tiles do not exist in the catapulting formula. All the server knows is meters and angles. A catapult will always throw the projectile directly horizontal to where it's facing and the catapult's vertical angle will not affect the formula. So even if the catapult is standing on an uneven surface, this won't affect it at all. There are circumstances where your projectile's trajectory may travel for more time or for less time on the air before hitting a ground than it would do if the surface was completelly flat. When it travels for more time, it will go further away. When it travels for less time, it will land closer. The following images summarize the prevous statements. For example, in the third section of the image the catapult will throw further away because of the slope of the terrain that goes downwards. -------------//------------- In this image, a catapult with 10 winch will hit 40m away and hit the base of the wall while a catapult winch of 20 will theoritically hit the inside of the deed but will instead hit the longhouse that's in it's trajectory and numbered with 1. After that section of the longhouse goes down, the projectiles can reach the inside of the deed and hit section numbered with 2. Keep in mind, hitting somewhere on the outer side of this dirtwall between the fence and the longhouse, will damage the fence standing on the bottom of the dirtwall. It will not damage the longhouse standing on the top though. For you to damage the longhouse on the top, you have to either land the projectile inside the longhouse tiles or to make the trajectory hit the walls. Spyglass The most important part in catapulting is a spyglass. The spyglass allows you to do two important things. 1)Align a catapult towards a wall you want to hit. 2)Get a distance metric. I)Aligning a catapult A catapult can be aligned parallel to a tile row by turning clockwise and then counter-clockwise. But that's just aligning to hit vertical to walls. If you want to do angle shots, as will be described later, you need to be able to align the catapult in perfect angle towards a wall. For that, the spyglass can be used as follows. 1) Drag the catapult. 2) Turn towards the area you want to hit. 3) Start using the spyglass. 4) Target the wall you want to hit with the spyglass. 5) Press back and forth so as the catapult aligns with your body that's now facing directly that wall with the aid of spyglass. The spyglass will stop spying and the catapult will now be facing the wall you want to hit. II) Get a distance metric 1) Face the wall you want to hit. 2) Spy with the spyglass 3) Get the number. Doing the angle shot Now that you have aligned the catapult and have the metric, you can do the angle shot. As a rule of thumb, divide the metric you got by 4. This will be your winch. If your target is higher than you, you may have to add 1 winch for every 35 slope the target is higher. If the target is lower than you, you have to remove a winch for every 35 slope.
  7. Disclaimer: This is part of a series of guides I'm doing to introduce Chaos to newer players and to people from freedom who wanna venture in the wild lands of Chaos either alone or as part of a kingdom. Catapulting Distance calculations Each tile in wurm is 4 meter in width. On a flat plain, a catapult throwing distance is winch x 4. So if you winch 20, you get 80m distance. When you are trying to hit a place that is higher than you are, you have to winch more than the distance in tiles. When you are trying to hit a place that is lower than you are, you have to winch less than the distance in tiles. A rule of thumb is, for every 45 slope higher than you, you winch one more. For every 45 slope lower than you, you winch 1 less. So if you were trying to hit a longhouse 300 slope over you, you'd have to winch about 7 more. Experiment and figure out. Success and Failure Messages in catapulting can be tricky. Not all of them are success messages. Generally to damage any non-house wall you have to land the projectile on a tile that has that wall as a border. That means that when you hit a tile, you can hit all 4 borders of it if they all have non-house walls. House damaging rules are a little bit more complex. To damage a house wall you have to either: 1)Get the trajectory of the projectile to cross-cut through a house wall in 3D space. 2)Provided the projectile trajectory didnt cross-cut through a house wall in 3D space get the projectile to land on a tile that has the wall as a border and be a tile that belongs inside the house and not outside. Once the projectile lands or hits something you are going to get an event message. Here are some examples and their associated explanation. Damage output A projectile can do a maximum of 20 dmg per sucessful shot. The damage though varies. To get the best chance for maximum damage use 80 kg projectiles by combining four shards. 80 kg is the maximum shard you can put in a catapult. Extra tips Sometimes the catapults rotation will make it hit the wrong tile as you can hit diagonal too. To align the catapult properly, turn it once clockwise and once counter-clockwise and it will align. The angle of the tile you are standing, or the angle of the tile you are hitting don't really affect the distance. It's only the height difference that affects it. Sometimes you must change your height a bit to find the right spot.
  8. Boat insurance scam in Chaos It looked like a story taken from an action movie. A day ago, it was announce in the recruitment thread of TLR that a village member named Blackmonk, built a bridge to reach a clay tile because his boat had broken down and he had to send it to the Shroud docks for repairs. The story sounded very fishy even from the beggining as not only are the Shroud docks are famous for their past and present scam and fraudulent activities but because he instantly filled an appeal for insurance reimbursement from the company that insured his boat. A citizen of Xanadu that requested his identity to remain secret, contacted The Wurmion's headquarters and revealed a shocking info. Blackmonk, who reportedly sent his boat to the Shroud docks for repairs, is a master ship builder. We contacted Blackmonk for an interview a couple of hours later. His initial resistance to speak with us was followed with a plethora of inconsistencies as according to his words "I accidentally crashed the boat on the bridge under construction". This comes in contrast with the public announcement from TLR where it clearly is stated that the bridge was built because he had no boat to reach the clay. So if the bridge was built to replace the boat's functionality, how did the boat crash on the bridge prior to that event happening ? A paradox ? The plot thickens. Our investigative journalists dug deep into our archive to find assosiated events and as expected it didn't take long for the gold to come to surface. A convicted felon, serving his sentence in home probation was found at the village of TLR. His name is Issle and those that are regular readers of our news feed might remember him. The criminal of the pixels that goes by the name Issle was the person that a year ago, filled a lawsuit against Gumbo Enterprises for - according to his claims - selling him faulty combat gear a case that was later debunked as the plaintiff was trying to scam the insurance money from Gumbo Enterprises. Those two events are closely associated as it looks like there's an organized group of people living in TLR associated with fraudulent activities and insurance scams as both the events were aiming for insurance money and profit. Maciejkow, the village mayor refused to give any explanations in a phone call we had with him and assured us that no such activities are taking place in his village. What is more, he promised to build up a new church to instill religious ethics into the people of his village.
  9. Blackmonk's boat broke down today and he sent it to the Shroud were professional HoTS engineers are looking into the problem. That didn't stop him from getting to the clay tile though ... BUMP !
  10. Disclaimer: This is part of a series of guides I'm doing to introduce Chaos to newer players and to people from freedom who wanna venture in the wild lands of Chaos either alone or as part of a kingdom. Stealth What is stealth ? Stealth is a feature that allows you to hide your visual presense and your presense in local tab from other people. Why people use stealth ? Stealth can have many usages. You can stealth to hide from enemies for safety. You can also use stealth to prepare an ambush for an enemy. One more reason to stealth is to spy on enemy activity without them noticing you. More advanced stealth tactics include stealthing part of your army in order to confuse the enemy regarding the attacking or defensive power you have on your disposal and use that element of surprise for your advantage. How does stealth work ? Stealth is activated and deactivated through the button on your Quickbar. Once you press the stealth button you have a chance to succeed. When you succeed, you will get a Stealthmode text string in your event window and vanish from local tabs and from visibility. What are the rules governing stealth ? Part of them are taken from wurmpedia and part of them have been tested ingame. Here's the list: Body Control gives a better success at stealthing. You must be at least one tile away from another creature to try to stealth. It appears to be easier to stealth on tree tiles, and harder on road tiles. It is much easier to stealth in a cave. You move slower when in stealth. It appears to be easier to stealth at nighttime. Moving on or across roads has a great chance to unstealth you. Talking in local, or using emotes in local will unstealth you. Using certain abilties like Refresh will unstealth you. Using actions will unstealth you. Can I move while stealthed ? When moving while stealthed on unpaved road there's still a chance to unstealth which is about 10% per tile crossing. This type of unstealthing happens for indivual players that are in local with you. For example if you move around a local area that has PlayerA and PlayerB, you might get unstealthed for PlayerA but not for PlayerB. You will still maintain the Stealthmode status string but you'll be visible to some enemies or allies. There's now way to know who can see you and who not other than asking them. This helps prevent people stealthing up on distance outside your local and sneaking up on you for the kill. Can stealth be detected by Locate Soul ? Yes, a stealthed player will be visible in Locate Soul spells. The rules governing locate soul will be the same as those that apply on an unstealthed player. Can stealth be detected by Lurker in the Dark ? Yes, a stealthed player will be visible in Lurker in the Dark spells. The rules governing Lurker in the Dark will be the same as those that apply on an unstealthed player. Can i pass gates while stealthed ? Yes. Going through a gate on unpaved terrain will not unstealth you. The gate open and close animation will play though which can give our your location even if you are invisible. Can other players unstealth me ? Yes. If a player knows the tile you're stealthed on and steps on this tile, he will unstealth you completelly. Players moving around you in any other tile except the tile you're standing on will not unstealth you. Generally interactions with other players will unstealth you. Can I stealth on water ? Yes. Even if it's a bit more difficult there's absolutelly nothing stopping you from stealthing in water. What happens if I logout stealthed and login back ? When you logout stealthed and you login again, you won't be visible on chatting tab player lists ( eg alliance ) but you won't be also able view the other names on that list.
  11. I think it's based on the nolocate spell power compared to the random value you get when casting the eye of vynora. If the random value you get is better than the nolo cast a player has, it will detect his position. Tbh 100% location detection every hour seems a little bit too much. You should always have a chance to miss a target.
  12. Bump for the love-hate relationship we have with those guys up there
