  1. One of the major deterrents to exploration for me is not having a reliable way to take a short break while traveling. When I was a new player, I assumed guard towers would be a safe zone with guards automatically attacking mobs that came near, but quickly learned the hard way that it doesn't work like that! Travel in Wurm is already time consuming, and dying in a remote area because you had to step away for a bathroom break can be a seriously miserable experience. A way to keep our characters safe while stepping away to attend to things in rl for a few minutes would go a long way to encourage more travel and exploration. Here are my two suggestions for this: 1. Guard tower safe zone. Standing idle (no actions, movement, or chatting) on a guard tower tile makes you invulnerable after eg. 15 seconds, as long as you are not in combat already. There could be a message like "The guards are protecting you while you rest." when you enter the protected state and then "The guards allow you to fend for yourself now." when you are active again. Invulnerability is removed by any activity such as performing actions, moving, or chatting which indicate you're back at the pc. Pets should be protected too. 2. Standing idle on a tile with a tent applies a "hidden" status effect that works the same as the newbie aggro buff, so you are harder for mobs to detect, but not actually protected if they happen to walk very close to you. I think these safety options would be easy to understand and use, and would make travel much more enjoyable. To prevent exploits, the protections could expire after eg. 30 minutes and then have a cooldown of an hour or something like that, since this is just meant for occasional short afk breaks. 2. So exciting!! This sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait to try it out!! Also, do I spy a map hanging on the wall in the background of this picture?
  3. Wooden fragments from before the update are still made of birchwood, and they won't combine with the new ones that are now just 'wood'. It gives the message "[20:49:10] The fragments look like they might fit together if they were made of the same material."
  4. Just examine it, the last sentence gives the distance and direction.
  5. Very nice changes, especially the plank fragments!
  6. For breeding you just tame one so you can lead and then untame after. To use in the animal pens I imagine you'd just need to tame to lead it there and then untame in the pen so it can roam freely and herd the animals.
  7. The dogs wouldn't necessarily be tamed, it could just work automatically if they have the trait and are put in an enclosure with grazing animals.
  8. That would be great! Enchanted grass is ugly. I prefer large pens with enough natural grass that animals can graze without packing tiles, but they don't move around enough on their own for this to work currently. I always have to replant tiles in my natural pens, even with very few animals in them. Anything that can help even out the grazing and give the grass a chance to recover would be fantastic, and it's a nice way to give dogs a purpose too
  9. I prefer the spyglass as a no-drop item since it's irreplaceable, so if making it impable requires making it droppable, I wouldn't say it's worth it. Of course things can always be made better, but imo these work well enough as they are, except that visual glitch where you see parts of the spyglass when using it in third person.
  10. Would love this so much!
  11. Oooh! That's very exciting!! We'll be able to make so many more items with special wood colours So many other really nice changes here too! Thank you devs!
  12. I agree with this. It's tedious to grind beverages even though it's a lot easier now than it used to be. Having to train up beverages in order to make oil for smithing would take tedious to a new level, especially for the generalist players who like to do things for themselves.
  13. If they're made to decay, I hope they will also be able to go in bulk storage.
  14. A fishing almanac would be amazing.
  15. You can't craft the skin, so no, you can't tell a player that the item they are looking at is player made. They cannot make everything they see in the game because they can't make skins.
  16. I'd be so, so happy if they would just change the monthly skin tokens into crafting recipes so we can actually craft the special item models on characters that bought them from the marks shop. Then we could continue to tell new players that "everything you see in the game is player-made", because that statement is sadly becoming less true every month the way it is now
  17. So I took a lot of stuff out, and now it works again.. so it seems like it was full, but it still doesn't make sense that I had to take out that much stuff before being able to add any items back. Even if it's full, shouldn't I still be able to take out one item and put the same item back? It acted like it was actually overfilled but that doesn't seem like it should be possible.
  18. In the last few days I've been unable to add items to a food storage bin that's in a boat. I normally do this all the time but now it always says the item "doesn't fit". I thought the bin was full, but also happens when I take an item out of the bin and try to put it back, so that doesn't make sense. I have another bin in the same boat that is working fine, it seems to be just this one. It does have a lot of stuff in it, but even after taking items out to make space I still can't add anything to it.
  19. One "unit" of blueberries refers to a bunch of them, not a single berry at a time. [17:43:21] A handful of small, blue berries with a wonderful sweet taste. This has a very low nutrition value.
  20. I managed to get one because I use "lore" a lot to put together random dishes. It was totally by chance and a very exciting surprise! The recipe was for "classic curry" and it says "Tuxi's classic curry" in my cookbook. As far as I know, I happened to make the dish using a unique combination of ingredients that hadn't been done before on my server (I think it's server specific). Many recipes call for general ingredient types like "cooking oil", "any spice" or "vegetable", so there is some room for your exact recipe to be unique, but as Lisimba said it also has to be one that the devs have flagged as nameable. I'm not sure how feasible it would be to try and do this intentionally because you'd need to know which recipes are still available for naming and I don't know if or how you could figure that out.
  21. Finding a treasure map while imping/crafting is too much of a stretch for the rp perspective. Say what you want about video games don't need to be realistic etc but there is a certain framework that has to exist in order for us to accept and be immersed in an imaginary world. Woodcutting is a stretch imo, but I suppose someone could have hidden the chest up in the branches or something. To me it makes sense that the maps are found the way they are now. However I do like the idea of having them drop from humanoid mobs, especially at rifts. Even butchering non humanoid hostile mobs could work, eg. you could find it in a bear's stomach while butchering.
  22. You do actually understand what I mean though, right?
  23. The cactus is so cute! I just wish all these pretty new things were craftable. I'd gladly spend marks on the ability to craft special item models, but it's not worth it for one little decoration
