  1. As someone who has had to make the annoying sail up to Indie (quite possibly the least travel friendly server in the cluster) a few times now for these things... I cant help but feel like the people complaining about the impalong being in a better location really don't care at all about this game's community. Just want some free imps close to home. I love that Tekada tried to make it work to stay on Indie, but Indie is about the worst server possible for events. The new location is about 10billion times better for everyone that doesn't live in central indie. Indie stopped being the only server a long, long time ago. It is about time that this huge COMMUNITY EVENT was moved to a more appropriate location that is actually convenient for the game's community.
  2. No, it is an opportunity for people who like to ruin other's day to grief those who have no interest in PVP. Forcing PVP is always, under all conditions, an terrible idea on a non-pvp cluster. Forcing people through Chaos is forcing PVP. There is a problem with using an all in-game vote too. Seeing as it is mostly a handfull of merchants rallying against the servers being connected due to not wanting competition, even if they make it so only premium accounts can vote on there they will still just flood the votes with alts. Spend 50 silver to keep your competition out? No problem!
  3. The whole reason I played on Epic for a while was that stuff like this can happen. For the last 2 years at least, the game has spent special care to make sure you know stuff like this can happen. Heck, there are craters and such from past events on most of the maps. Unless you dont travel, dont read anything, ignore all warning messages, and never look at your surroundings there is no way you could NOT know that this was possible. That is one of the things that makes Epic so... Epic. Probably why the game was made so easymode for the Epic servers too, to make it easier to repair.
  4. Howdy folks, Have 1k bricks and 1k mortar made up and ready to go on Celebration. 6s includes delivery to any coastal deed on Celebration that is knarr accessible! Also have 8 sleep powder, 1.5s each! I normally would like to do a larger order than 1k/1k when shipping cross server, but for these I am willing, but at +50c per server border - excluding the southern coast of Exo. I can make more bricks & mortar if needed, just not accepting huge orders at this time.
  5. Granted, you might need a sample size of 1,000,000 items before it equals out, but it always will
  6. There is no such thing as luck, only statistics. Over a long period of time and a large sample size everything equals out. If you should get a rare 1 out of ever 100, and you go 200 items without one, maybe you'll get 1 every 80 items for the next 5 rares after that. It all equals out in the end every time for every person. if someone gets 5 in a row, they might go 125 items between each after that for a while. The one beautiful thing about numbers is that they do not lie. They do not judge, and they are not bias.
  7. Dragons

Yet another dragon thread claiming to speak for a majority, when the majority does not even have the ability to fight one effectively. Rolf has addressed Dragons many many times, the search feature built into the forums is your friend. The fact that not only is this in the wrong section of the forums, but that there is another thread just like it on the front page of this forum as well shows you didnt really spend any time before posting. Dragon runs are not hard to get into, get the right skill levels and ask around. As long as you haven't made a bad name for yourself you shouldn't have too awful hard of a time getting into a kill - outside of the fact that the dragons are not laying eggs anymore last I knew and there are not too many left.
  8. Put money in the token. Then make ropes. hah.
  9. The Wurm is a monster Libla uses to eat the world. Or make gods. Or something like that.
  10. Anyone who has worked in game development, or network administration, or as a sys admin, or as a database admin... or as anything else server related will tell you that using a data center is far better than a shed with a fiber line. He'd still be shut off by his ISP at this point if it was bringing down other customers, the difference is he wouldnt have a data center (which will have a better relationship with their ISP than he could hope to establish) advocating for him. Although, I knew when you brought up LAMP you were unfamiliar with how game servers work. Given Wurm's age, it is possible they are still using a SQL database but game development moved away from using SQL many years ago due to its severe limitations. Object databases are where it's all at now. Remember, even Blizzard doesnt host their own servers. It is -always- better to lease out data center space in almost every situation. EDIT: Just realized that the person I quoted wasnt the OP. Whoops.
  11. By that you mean you think it would be far more interesting if everyone went to Deli to trade? lol -100. Mailboxes are awesome - and most of us do not play on PVP servers anyway.
  12. Noooooooooooo. No chaos. Never force people into a PVP area on a non-PVP cluster. Not good game design
  13. The contract you sign when you activate a 2 year contract with a phone company IS a legally binding agreement. The ToS that a game developer posts on the internet is not.

I present to you: Gaschamp! You dont want to know what his 4th ability is.
  15. Me too! I highly doubt my merchants are holding the coin it would take to reform the deed again. hah. It already popped once on me during our break and I had to reform it. In the couple hours it was down people looted the crap out of my village too. >.> 6k mortar, thousands of 80-90ql lumps of ore, around a hundred enchanted tools. Weapons and armor also... Wasnt a fun experience. My blacksmith shop was unlocked because I work in there and people come in to meet me all the time. When the deed is there, it isn't a problem. Unfortunately it ended up costing me haha. They took everything but my 2 lawn gnomes! But that one was my fault hence why I didn't include it in the lost deed count above. I'm sure it'll be fine, I'm probably just letting myself get overly worried due to the uncertainty since I cannot log in.
  16. You dont prebuy 30 days of power. You pay for what you use with electricity. In no way can you compare the two. Beyond that, my power company issues credits for extended downtime even though they dont have to. Sorry you have a crappy power company.
  17. Hi Rose, My villagers are all on a temporary break from the game, as such I've just been roughly tracking the dates that my deeds would pop. I dropped all the coins I had on my character into the one deed to keep it alive this long - had to get premium to go get my money off my vendors to keep funding it. I have 2 deeds currently, one has over a hundred days the other is set to pop any day now... lost the exact date but I think I have at least 2 days left. When we are playing full time (and I'm not the only one feeding the token) we try to keep a good 3 months on it. When my old deed popped on Epic I was basically told I was SoL for several reasons. One being that they wont give me the deed back, the other being that at the time they wouldnt provide any kind of support in any way to the epic cluster.
  18. I'll try to make it out. Can imp BS stuff to the 80s & can try some casts with my priest. I've hit 100+ casts before but my channeling is only in the 50s - need a bit more work on my priest but I have time!
  19. Deed time too please. I've lost one deed before due to server downtime and I'd hate to lose a second. Reupped my premium so I could use my boats to go to my merchants and keep my deed paid. Time is running extremely low and I'll be super, super frustrated if it pops while we are unable to access the game. I quit the game for months last time because I was so frustrated. Probably would be one of the few times I actually sought financial compensation as it would be nearly $70 in silver I've lost to server downtime (counting the previous deed that popped for the same reason).
  20. The yearly financial statements are public knowledge last I knew. You could go look up 2012 to get a better idea of what 2013 holds. Then again, I haven't looked them up in forever so maybe they're not public anymore? I'm also a game developer. I've been through all these loops before. I'm not at all angry about the money spent however. I'm pretty sure I'm not in any sort of minority when I say I don't expect any money back. Heck, I don't want my money back. I would enjoy maybe a couple nontradable sleep powders or even a little premium time to make up for the outage. As a game developer though, I totally understand that CoLo issues are out of his control and it sucks to have to give up stuff for free for something you didn't cause and have no control over. As a gamer, I do want a little compensation for the outage. Ah, the mental struggles of a developer who is also a gamer! haha.
  21. Route Blocked

Hah, well I read "TDP" as "TCP" in Rolf's post and assumed the TCP packets were being blocked since it made sense. TCP is a transfer protocol, like UDP. The main difference being that TCP packets guarantee delivery and UDP doesn't. UDP is much faster because it isnt connection dependent, whereas TCP is. Basically you choose TCP over UDP when the data isnt time sensitive (you would use UDP for movement in like a shooter, time sensitive) and when you absolutely need to guarantee the packet reaches its destination, like a login attempt. I'm going to stop explaining there. As a fellow developer I'm sure you have the resources to learn more about it. I think most people are just going to let their eyes glaze over when I start throwing acronyms out there haha.
  22. This is so wrong on so many levels I don't even know where to start. When I go buy a sub from Subway, I'm not committing to come back again later. However, they ARE committing to not cut 2 inches out of the center of my sub. As far as the ToS that people keep bringing up. Game developers put them out knowing fully that they are completely meaningless. In no way is a ToS a binding legal agreement. Especially when it comes to financial transactions.
  23. Route Blocked

It means when you click to log in, your information is getting blocked from actually reaching the login server to put you in the game. TCP is just a type of data transfer that establishes a reliable flow of data. It's counterpart, UDP, does not guarantee delivery. But, I think the line above this one will answer your question bretter.
  24. No reason to keep them separated anymore. In less than a year I was able to transfer from Epic to Freedom and get my crafting skills high enough to make top end tools, along with a priest that can hit 100+ enchants. The only people who I can see being against it would be the people controlling the markets on those servers right now. The merge will be great for the old lands, more players interested in wares. The merge will be great for the non-mercantile folks on the new servers also as it will give them a larger choice in the market - and probably better prices to go with it. Heck, it's good for the merchants too as it opens them to more potential buyers. Although, from what I'm told the people controlling the markets over there have a strong hand in the markets over here already - just players out for more money. Which is totally fine, I'm a merchant too and the idea of having more people to sell my goods to is very exciting. They've been apart for a year, time to come home. It is just a winning action for nearly the entire Wurm community, including the silent majority whom reside on those servers.
  25. I own the merchant on the corner near the water. Name is something with "awesome" in it.
