This is still happening: 88 damage on a flower pot. Is there a piece of furniture flower pots can be put on where they won't be treated like potted plants?

It sounds like what you may be seeing is that flowers "on top of" things are treated like "in" a container. Things in a container are not decorations, so they're not protected from decay on deed. But that has been tweaked in some measure:

According to patch notes below, "decorations" should be now protected even in containers. Maybe flowers are treated as decorations outside containers, but don't qualify as decorations inside...

    • Bugfix: Fixed decoration items taking damage in containers on deed

For how long did flowers outside a container, on the ground, take no damage? Or do they take *some* less damage?

Also, this hen is cared for, if that matters here.

It might matter, because hens cannot reach venerable unless they're cared for. They die at aged in their "natural state", so to speak. It sounds like the Manage Animals window might not know of such "unnatural" creature.

Edited to add: just wondering, could it be present in the list, but without "venerable"? Is an aged hen present?

Now this one is hard to find, even if the difficulty is novice. Please help me locate this treasure on Xanadu:

Maybe here or nearby, west or north a bit https://xanadu.yaga.host/#2933,4242

Going by the sand and the rock, and topography lines. There's no village (terraforming leftovers) a little south of the sand though, visible on the map, but it might be that the map dump is too outdated... or approximate.

  4. That the higher skilled foragers find very rarely "iron rock" while the low skilled characters have a much better chance, was intended. I think these were the patch notes:

    https://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Wurm_Server_Release_Notes_2016

    • Made chance on getting rock when foraging depend on inverse skill. e.g. more likely to get it on low skill.

This makes sense to me, since new players may really need that first iron somehow, while old players have much more ways to get themselves iron. If it had a normal chance, it would hinder the chance of foraging other things they're after. We have so many things added in the foraging table over and over again, that it's really rare to find fairly regular things sometimes. However, it is still possible to get it, at least at 80+ foraging. I don't know at 90+.

  5. OK, so this might explain it... I thought BT adds another, very light, infection wound, to the regular wound. But I tried again, on a regular mob this time, and when it procced it did one big infection wound:

    AGsc0iC.png

The champ anaconda's was very likely smaller than this, but if the wound becomes in its entirety an infection wound, if it worsens every single minute, then ... maybe it killed? It just seems so overpowered, one-hit on champ anaconda with a low body character doesn't sound quite right. :D

  6. I just saw on another hidden creature, an aged croc I think, I did an infection wound of 25 damage. That's (much) more than I expected! But it's a weaker mob, dunno. With only one wound, BT infection has to work like crazy to kill it. If it worsens every minute, it would have needed to add more than 2/min on average or something.

  7. 13 hours ago, Shydow said:

Is it possible the anaconda had a wound of medium or higher damage, that got worse and eventually killed it?

I don't think so, I only hit it once, and it barely did some damage. 70 FS, under 30 body strength, 90ql haxe with 2k BT. I expected that little red on it  to heal sooner than I put myself back together. 😅

    Edited to add:

31 haxe skill. There are no potions or stuff, just plain low BT. However, it did do:

[21:45:06] You cut aged champion Hidden Anaconda deadly hard in the chest and damage it.
[21:45:06] Your weapon infects aged champion Hidden Anaconda with a disease.

I think the wound was less than 20%, but lets say it was 20%, and lets say the BT infection would have worsen every minute, but that should have been light to begin with, I don't know how it could have killed it (and I didn't notice worsening red until it disappeared).

On a related note: when you kill hidden creatures, there is no message in Event or Combat log that it died. At a minimum, it would be very useful to add that.

  8. Patch notes say:

Combat Challenges: when you try to dig up a location you may come across some creatures ambushing you which you must defeat before you can continue digging it up.

Will go into hiding again after 45 minutes if not yet killed until you come and dig again, then the same remaining creatures will ambush you again.

Today, I was with my NFI newbie on Cadence, 66 ql map, at step 4:

[21:30:41] You start digging for treasure!
[21:30:56] The aged raging Hidden Huge spider has arrived.
[21:30:56] The aged Hidden Lava spider has arrived.
[21:30:56] The aged hardened Hidden Lava fiend has arrived.
[21:30:56] The aged hardened Hidden Lava spider has arrived.
[21:30:56] The aged champion Hidden Anaconda has arrived.

I killed the first 4, then got trapped between a hedge and a tree and the anaconda did away with me. I ressed at tent nearby, anaconda was still there for a few minutes, then I didn't see it anymore. I fixed me up, looked around, no anaconda, and went to dig again.

[22:03:49] You start digging for treasure!

[22:04:14] You find a small old casket.
[22:04:25] You carefully work to open it up without damaging what's inside...
[22:04:26] You find a piece of parchment.

[22:14:30] This is a difficult clue. You have completed 4 steps of this treasure hunt. This clue may have between 4 and 6 steps.

No anaconda. It wasn't 45 minutes yet, either.

Wondering - haven't checked it out, but the times towers have duplicate names and numbers, are they different styles of towers?

They don't have to be. They're just duplicate. People who create many -ish towers can end up with duplicates, it seems the algo to generate "random" numbers ain't very smart. For example, a player who has made around 30 towers saw, I think, 4x of their IDs repeat on 4x other towers they've made.

For maps and other purposes, it would be nice if the builders rename them, since the rename will show up on the treasure map, in addition to builder name and ID.

  11. I crossed yesterday from Cadence to Harmony, with 5 caskets in the ship, including supreme. I returned soon to look for them, in like an hour I was back on Cadence. No caskets. I relogged, no caskets. I even made a quixotic trip along some patch of the Cadence western border, where I likely-ish crossed before, jumping in the water and looking hopelessly into the ocean lol.

They weren't in a container in the ship I believe, but directly in the ship hold. I had dropped them temporarily since my NFI character is a newbie with low strength and I wasn't about to do them yet. 😓

You can hold treasure maps, dirty caskets, and sealed bottles in your inventory while crossing servers. Unless something has changed recently. It acts like a deed, it will disappear from your inventory when you go to a different server but it will reappear in your inventory when you return to your home server. So if the ship-hold bug is fixed too, then it should be perfectly fine.

Yes, you can hold in inventory, but we're mere mortal wurmians, we don't always do what we ideally should. It is really handy sometimes to drop them, even if you mean for a short time. It was very convenient, for example, when I once left a few maps in a boat for an ally to come get on some other server than our home. We can't mail them cross-server, and we happen to play at different times. So the way to do it fast is was, leave them for them to collect. It worked, of course. That's dropping on a boat, though, a natural thing to do as long as the game allows you, but unfortunately that is what is bugged if you happen to cross servers.

    Edited to clarify:

It might not be easy, I'm afraid, to make them reappear in ship's hold, if that's what you mean should happen, Lovelie. That's why I am brainstorming alternatives. But of course, you are correct that, if that's possible to just fix in a straightforward way, by all means, I'd be all for it.

  13. When crossing servers, if caskets are in the ship, this mean bug will hit:

Apparently they drop at the bottom of the ocean... and it's a big ocean out there. 😓 I just bumped into this issue, it's scary I assure you!

But we have ingame other items which cannot be used on other servers, and can be dropped: arch reports. When they cross server, they cannot be read anymore, and obviously cannot be used. When we cross back to the server they came from, they can be read and used as usual. Why not make caskets/bottles behave the same way? It would help a lot, just let them go, in unreadable form, instead of this tricky mix of droppable but unpassable.

Alternatively, perhaps make it impossible to cross as long as they're in the ship hold? We have such case, too, can't cross at all with passengers that have disabled pvp servers. (though it seemed to not work recently but I saw some patch notes saying it was fixed) And the game checks already for their presence anywhere, in ship or inventory.

Crude items don't really have a type as they are not impable but they are defined as wooden on the server. When you create them from fragments they are wooden shovels.

They are inconsistent though: crude axe and crude knife don't show a type, while crude shovel does. Also, on the test server the axe and pickaxe are categorized as "tool fragment", not "wooden fragment". On live, all three were "weapons", I think.

[19:43:46] You carefully start brushing away bits of dirt and rock from the unidentified wooden fragment.
[19:43:48] You successfully identify the fragment as a crude shovel fragment [1/3].
[20:27:29] A small fragment from a crude shovel. You think you could recreate the crude shovel if you had a bit more material. It is made from wood. It can not be improved.

[22:50:29] You carefully start brushing away bits of dirt and rock from the unidentified tool fragment.
[22:50:31] You successfully identify the fragment as a crude knife fragment [1/3].
[20:27:08] A small fragment from a crude knife. You think you could recreate the crude knife if you had a bit more material. It can not be improved.

[20:53:05] You carefully start brushing away bits of dirt and rock from the unidentified tool fragment.
[20:53:06] You successfully identify the fragment as a crude axe fragment [1/4].
[20:54:55] A small fragment from a crude axe. You think you could recreate the crude axe if you had a bit more material. It can not be improved.

Not the biggest issue, for sure, but it's odd.

  15. [19:43:46] You carefully start brushing away bits of dirt and rock from the unidentified wooden fragment.

*headscratch* This... doesn't look quite right, does it? 😅

    Edited to add:

The log when picking it up was:

[16:58:34] You pick out a fragment of some item wedged into the ground. [TEST: fragment ql: 22.881462 realTemplate: crude shovel]

    Edited to add(2):

This isn't an entirely new issue, though. On live servers:

[19:19:12] You carefully start chiseling away bits of dirt and rock from the unidentified weapon fragment.
[19:19:14] You successfully identify the fragment as a crude shovel fragment [1/3].
[21:04:02] A small fragment from a crude shovel. You think you could recreate the crude shovel if you had a bit more material. It is made from birchwood.
