  1. Rather than removing a function on account of what clearly is harassment and abuse of the function, I would rather see the database include the player's unique ID tagged on when coins are named. Color added to highlight the proposed solution. The culprit should then be held accountable in whatever is deemed suitably painful. I would personally delete their existence entirely but I'm mean and have no patience. If that causes some of you to "cry" (as seems to be the popular term) because it's the internet and you should get to be a moron... don't fret. You can still be a moron, you just can't be that much of a moron more than once.
  2. I like the idea of being able to forecast weather conditions ahead of time so we can plan ahead. Being able to do things while hanging out on a boat would be nice too, such as imping as Amber suggested or I've seen someone else somewhere suggesting fishing while sailing. I'd rather see things added to sailing to make it more interesting than seeing things removed from sailing. It's a cool facet of the game that seems pretty unique. The variety of boats could also affect what someone can do while travelling. I wouldn't want to cook on my sailboat, but kinda seems like a caravel has plenty of room for all kinds of options. It would be nice to make better use of its long distance purposes.
  3. Not a good idea to force a merge. Somehow I just don't see General Patton and John Lennon looking forward to spending some quality time playing Wurm together. Would you really want to be the mediator putting them in the same room, then coming up with a set of rules they're both going to be happy with and they'll suddenly sing coombaya while loading up the M60? Do they ride off into the sunset in the Sherman or the flower-painted VW? You're entering a world of hurt here, a world of hurt. Just put the rule book down and back away slowly, there's still time.
  4. oh, thank goodness. For a minute there when I saw the title, I thought Wurm had been sold to Netdevil. WB.
  5. Or, maybe, some people have a different but equally valid point of view from your own. I did look up the definition of the word smug to confirm my suspicion after reading what you wrote, and you do a very good impression of the very thing you're accusing others of. About the topic... It's nice to see some numbers. While it certainly wouldn't bother me to see more mobs out there, I do very much like the idea of different servers/continents offering different experiences. It makes it more worthwhile to even have different servers in my opinion. I've had much more reason to use my tracking skill, as low as it is, on Xanadu than I ever had before and I've enjoyed that. To me, sitting in a blind with a 12-pack of Budweiser picking off an abundance of animals as they happen to walk by is not hunting. Every definition of hunt involves searching, pursuing, scouring, chasing, etc. Again, by all means, more mobs is fine, but please don't demand your experience on Xanadu be just like the experiences you've had on every other server in the many decades you've been playing Wurm. So far, the experience I've had on Xanadu has felt more authentic (in some ways) than what I've experienced on other servers. It's a nice change of pace. No doubt the experiences I've had in the past are still very much available in the places I had them to begin with. I've never valued a few simple pelts as much as I do now. I've never had the kind of satisfaction tracking bison, then catching bison, while avoiding the bear tracks I found, before Xanadu. No, I won't be frying up hundreds of meals in an attempt to synthetically raise my cooking skill. Meat is at a premium. My cooking skill will rise organically. No, I won't grind my way through an abundance of animals to raise my fighting skill as quickly as possible. I do have the option of travelling, adventuring, my way over to a more dangerous continent if I decide I must raise my fighting skill faster. I even have the option of travelling all the way to Chaos if I feel my dying skill needs a grind. It's okay for something to be different than what you've always known, particularly since what you've always known is still very much available. It's also okay for people to enjoy adapting to something new, even if you don't.
  6. Stumps

I like this idea a lot. I think the stumps are graphically a nice touch. It's like trees actually falling, it's not necessary but it's a nice bit of immersion. I also wish we could use stumps for something. Carve them into a statue, or use them as a base for a large flower pot, etc. Right now, they are a nuisance but I think they're worth salvaging.
  7. Makes sense. Friend of mine got lag on Serenity as I chatted with him from Xanadu, where I also lagged to a freeze for a minute or two. Not server specific.
  8. I'm going to venture a guess that it's 10s per... but luckily dreaming is free ::edit:: pretty sure even Captain Obvious could have figured out the intent on this one
  9. Would love to see this happen. I had designed a house with this on the 3D house planner thing, only to find it didn't work in-game. Granted, they're probably stored as fences in some database so it might be more complicated than I can really imagine since they need to have different properties than a wall, but I'd still really like to see it happen
  10. I was under the impression you could not use gates inside buildings on the first floor, only on higher floors is allowed? Or maybe the first floor is not allowed only on outside walls? Would change my plans if we can. Don't mean to derail the thread though +1 to ideas in the OP.
  11. those look awesome! I'll be staying far away from them. About the screenshot, when did Lieutenant Commander Data start playing Wurm?
  12. Breeding issues

Hi, I live very close to Cista so figured I'd chime in with what I've experienced thus far. Got 3 mares pregnant, once each. One has given birth. The foal has 3 good traits, no bad. The other two mares do seem to be taking their time in comparison, but I haven't been very scientific about keeping track. It does appear it's taking longer than the number of days indicated. The mare that has given birth has not been willing to party since, though both horses are "Venerable" so not 100% if the mare or the stud is the problem. Weirdly, the mare and stud that spawned the foal did refuse to breed the first time I tried. They went ahead the next day and wound up the first to birth. I've gotten one cow pregnant. Gave birth to 1 male calf who "will fight fiercely." Not sure if that's a good trait but I like it. She has not been in the mood since. Gotten 2 bison pregnant by one bison dude, one of them last night. Waiting on the births. Not sure if it has any effect beyond XP but I do tend each animal at the very least once every real life day. If there is a cap based on geographic area, please report back and I'll cease all breeding until neighbors are set. I'll not experiment or breed any animals further until I hear back. I would hate to be affecting a neighbor's business as I myself have no prospects on profit! Good luck to all.
  13. Xaniacs comes to mind. Somehow would rather be an onion than a potato, but then potatoes did manage to keep another mythical island alive (reckon with a good pint of Guinness or four), so who am I to argue with that. Withholding my vote though, as in the end it's unlikely I'll consider myself anything other than Teksan
  14. Found Foal

Near Double Oak Ranch at ~H8. Aggressive and unually strong-willed so might be a release, but wanted to make sure. Contact in game if you live around the area and lost a foal.
  15. A seal!

Does it strike anyone else as somewhat ironic that the first seal to be found is by someone named Sharkin? thx for the pics, they look cool
  16. Was coming to suggest this when a search turned this up Include lavender tiles and camelia tiles to this too please! +1
  17. I'm sorry Fatboy but I'm not liking this idea at all. There used to be all kinds of complaints about private meat factories. I really like not seeing those complaints anymore. Also seems like you would be punishing me for your decision to move to an island. There are some pretty foreseeable problems with island living, which is why I don't live on an island . I want bison, cows, bulls, etc. I knew an island would make that very difficult if not impossible. I also knew iron or other ores would be even less probable on an island, and that I would have to pay a lot of money to fix my decision if I went that way. The toggle is an option, but it has problems. The return of private meat factories. Could make it so that if someone decides to toggle mobs on a deed, they are not allowed to have a spirit templar. No factory, a decision a player can make for themselves. Could argue it would cost CCAB money, but these folks probably wouldn't have wanted a templar anyway if they really want the mobs. I really wouldn't like to see passive spawns on deed. Well, game driven passive spawns. These can be difficult to get even if you're not on an island. I think they should remain equal access, equal opportunity. Again, choosing to live on a island is something we have control over so while it may not seem equal, it really is. I understand the risk/reward model Etherdrifter is talking about. You get the reward of passive at the risk of aggressives... but for a lot of people the aggressive mobs is something they wanted to begin with as well. So, it's really a reward/reward model that punishes everyone else. It sounds like bridges may be able to help you with passive creatures. You may or may not want a bridge, that's your decision. If we are ever allowed to put passives on a boat, that would help you as well. For aggressives, it would make more sense for you to have to take a boat as a consequence of the decision you made to live on an island than it would be to punish me by dropping aggressives on my deed because of your decision to live on an island, which I can't even remotely be responsible for. This suggestion is really affecting too many others negatively for a decision they had nothing to do with, and that could have been foreseen and avoided pretty easily.
  18. Would also love paintings to hang on walls, as well as our shields, rugs as Flemish Tapestries, and backpacks to hold our tools like we used to do in SWG long ago. I think these things may become possible with the wall clipping fix they're bringing in at some point. I think the problem until now was a lack of 3rd dimension coordinate. Mosquitoes, ok, BUT, only if I can add lemon to my candles and iron torch lamps to make citronella candles and keep them at bay in the summer . For the push/pull, in the meantime, have you tried binding them? It's still pretty tedious over longer distances but easier than having to use the mouse every time. I presume you know about the "load" function for moving large items? I mention it just in case. I think there is more furniture coming up. A bedside table and a wardrobe/armoire if I remember correctly. Not sure I understand the suitcase thing though? I'm all for convenience but loading the wagon for the move feels more authentic. Moving is kind of a big deal I think .
  19. Is this not the idea behind Epic and associated portals? Perhaps that was your point and I'm just missing it . I'm sitting down so it's easy for things to go over my head. I'm not sure the dichotomy between immersion and achievement is as simple or pronounced as might appear. Plenty of the immersion folks broke out the pitch forks and molotov cocktails (pottery jar+tar) during the OliveGate debacle. One might have thought needing to maintain stores of olive oil for the light we need might fit the immersion playstyle, but maybe not so much. Part of the issue here is perhaps a lack of communication skills. "You just want the easy way!!" is not really going to accomplish anything other than alienating the very people you need to work with. "You just want to beat things up and have no patience!!" is not really going to accomplish anything other than alienating the very people you need to work with. Clearly, there will never be pvp raids on freedom. That's right, it's never going to happen, ever. +1 peaceloving, tree hugging, bleeding heart, hippies. Clearly, there will always be dangerous animals in some form, even on pve servers as they are indeed part of the environment. +1 bloodthirsty, knuckle dragging, warmongers. Do they need to destroy things on-deed? I don't know. What does that add to the game? It adds the requirement for building defenses. Okay, then again on Epic, if you're into building defenses, one has to build defenses against human ingenuity. Surely a better challenge to the defense building proponents than any troll on steroids could ever be! Seems like the requirement to build defenses is better suited to the Epic servers. Do things really need to take YEARS to do? I mean, come on, I have band practice, football practice, a new game is coming out in 3 months, and my little sister needs to use the computer, give me a break. On the other hand, do I really need another rat race? I mean, seriously, I'm working hard towards my raise, I'm putting money away for the kids, and my honey-do list is tackled diligently and with a really convincing albeit fake smile... Can't I just have ONE place to relax and enjoy? A place for my own goals just for ME to get lost in? Yes. To which? Both. Whippersnapper that's got things to do, go to Epic lad, you can gain skill faster, start building, breeding, fighting, imping, etceteraing, faster and sooner. Bill-paying-old-coot, go to freedom, put some roots down, take a deep breath. You can be here as long as you like and there will always be something else. Welcome to finally having found your stable, your constant. But I want PVP with the longterm skill gain and super strong troll on steroids? Go west. No, further. See that? It's Chaos. Love it, live it, it's what you asked for. But, but, I want all that, but only with PVE!! Okay, fine. Here, someone (was it sevenless) suggested an Ent, or something similar, that will kick there ever living out of you but will not aggro other players so they can continue to be peaceloving, treehugging, bleedingheart, hippies... What am I missing? Fries? Okay, go to Belgium, take a right. Next?
  20. Hygiene

I like the idea of increasing the uses for the ingredients you've mentioned, and providing variety in what is used. The mortar sounded a bit rough, but then things like lava soap can be mana from heaven if you work with oil or particular dirty things. Result: I think I'd go with the result of either avoiding disease, or curing disease. While a good shower can feel great, I think I could probably still manage my health and maintain my stamina even if I chose body odor. It's an elective, not a requirement. Unless you come armed, you can't make me go to a sermon, so there. I don't pvp, and have no plans on ever using the pvp functions of this game. I would still not necessarily claim your balance issues are useless, unless of course you make me by claiming things of no interest to you are therefore useless. Two words, prune juice. Seen enough horrors, thank you. +1. This death from hunger you speak of, I like.
  21. Might just have to ask, though, "The dirt on this perimeter was really the last dirt available on Xanadu?" I mean, 5-year-olds are really cute when they think they've figured the best excuse ever, and then look amazed when they're figured out... but captain obvious can just call it. Seemed like a good looking canal! I remember the first time I went through one was on Exodus... I was impressed. Does this one mean a local would now have to go all the way around the lakes rather than simply cross that land-bridge? Either way, clearly dialogue would have been the correct option. My money is on the players represented in this post having taken their neighbors into consideration, and this being the result of unrelated angst in the griefer.
  22. Maybe Iceland Spar? Apparently one was recently found in a shipwreck. It's meant to be more of a compass though, showing the location of the sun even in cloudy/foggy weather, but I just think it's cool and want to find a place for it in Wurm. Having a location marker on the map though... Judging from the map below, I get the feeling vikings would have navigated much like we do in Wurm. Follow a coastline, use landmarks, and if you leave the coastline, go straight and hope for the best. Oh, and knock a few priests over the head along the way for a bit of gold and honey. We have gold, we have priests, and we'll be getting honey. Granted this is not really a Viking Simulator sooo... could be moot.
  23. Please Close.

Agreed. It's just that any past experience I had had with road building in my area on other servers was massive projects with no regard for the local populations... after which the builders were never seen travelling the area again. We're talking industrial highways meant to become the single focus anyone's eye might catch. Clearly, that isn't the case here, and I really appreciate the effort to do it in such a way that doesn't completely alter the surrounding area someone has paid to deed. Unless the map is inaccurate, you guys appear to be well south of my location and unrelated to the lamp post that appeared on my doorstep as I'm right on that tiny pond north of the large sandflats. I've been in touch with Blacklotus in game and will extend the same invitation to anyone else working on this highway... there is a well on my deed if you're thirsty. Veggies, meat and an oven if you're hungry. Feel free to give me a holler. ::edit:: I would say "mi casa, su casa," but I don't actually have a casa yet
