  1. Last Post Wins

Why is this thread still alive?
  2. Fountain containers are a lost cause. They don't do much harm in game. They're a static problem that doesn't get worse over time because there is a finite supply. The volcanoes on the other hand will keep spewing out 0.6kg of moon metal every day for years. The longer they stay, the worse.
  3. You're still missing the part about MR having free access to extra moon metal through something that can never be used by other kingdoms because it was changed immediatly.
  4. It's hurting everybody other than MR obviously. Which is why MR are the only ones voting no...
  5. The problem is that every time something like this happens, and it often does. The changes are not reverted fully. You would for example get to keep all the illicitly gained moon metal. For it to be fair, you would have to let go of that and accept 2 valrei items chosen randomly from the loot table. That is assuming the uniques you killed did not drop other valrei items besides the rods.
  6. If it wasn't because it was changed so you can no longer get a rod, let alone one with 3 charges, we might not be complaining. But because Rolf saw fit to let you have the ###### after stating that it should never have happened we have a right to do so because it's just plain favouritism.
  7. Sorry about that Have you tested that glance rates follow the same formula as damage reduction?
  8. Nvm I thought the top right table was for pure damage reduction ignoring glance rates.
  9. This is wrong. Plate does certainly not give 80% damage reduction at 100ql, let alone 90.
  10. Jack of all trades, master of none.
  11. I am aware what I wrote is not 100% accurate, that is why I left in an error margin of 1-2%. You are correct in saying that we cannot know for sure what the actual skill curve is etc. We can however be reasonable sure that things lie within an interval. The more data we have, the smaller the interval becomes. It's basic statistics.
  12. That data is far from conclusive. You fail to take into account the slowdown of skillgain and the sometimes large variations in gained skill per hour stemming from random chance.
  13. Pics or it didn't happen. I have tested it and it is false unless we are talking a difference in the 1-2% range between carving knives and med mauls.
  14. The pillar missions on Chaos have for the last few months only been completeable in the south east region even though the mission says NE/NW/SW. Please fix.
  15. Large sign + spyglass = profit?
  16. Hahaha so drake is now split equally among all the attending players. This just promoted bringing a few trusted people to a fight. I like how the intention was to bring more players to a slaying as evidenced by the blood droppings. Instead we now have a change that demolishes that. Someone doesn't think about the implications of changes....
  17. That is vague. Does it mean we can get items with ql>100 or that they will be easier to improve?
  18. It's not just about paying, that's the problem. The subscription fee is not the only thing you have to pay. I like games where there is only a flat subscription fee and nothing else because you can be sure that there is no pay to win or anything. Subscription only is obviously not enough for wurm, so we must look at the second best thing to do.
  19. What I am trying to say here is that it might be a bad business move. I also try to back up whatever I say with actual facts and for the record I don't play for free.
  20. Many people pay prem with RL money and deeds with trader silver. If you don't want to believe it, that is up to you. Also you don't know how silver is distributed to the traders exactly so saying that players with traders are cheapskating on paying players may or may not be true. It most likely is not. You can't deny that being able to play for free is a draw for many noobs. If they have the will to earn silver for their own prem, that's on them for using their time on that. If they are forced to leave then the game population will drop and a low population doesn't exactly attract more customers.
  21. It is clear that the new trader changes coming with Xanadu are there because the team does not want players to be able to hold deeds basically for free. Rolf himself has also stated that this is not working as intended several times. There have also been changes that force people to prem up if they wish to specific things, such as travel across shark infested waters since that doesn't go well in a row boat. I think the changes that encourage premming are nice, non-prems should only be able to try the game in my opinion. However, I do think that forcing already premmed players to pay for their deeds is a bad idea and here is why. Deeds are a major draw for new players since they want their own, and also a strategic tool on the PvP servers. It is possible that income may actually drop if deeds can no longer be paid for with traders since actual player trade will drop when people are forced to spend more RL money on their deeds. Less silver in circulation will harm the ingame economy, thereby creating less incentive to pay for silver with RL money. On the PvP side of things, deeds will now be another pay to win tool that give you an inherent advatange by spending money, like spyglasses, farwalker amulets etc. Most of these pay to win items don't even rattle off money directly to the team since they are gifts traded internally amongst the players. I think demanding or even offering power items for money is a silly idea. A reputation of pay to win quickly discourages new players from joining the game and providing new revenues. I would suggest that the team considers selling purely cosmetic items instead of trying to force players into paying directly for their deeds and other power items directly with RL money. This has worked well for a number of other games such as WoW, EvE and most notably TF2, even though items here are not strictly cosmetic, but sidegrades instead of upgrades. EvE especially had a HUGE community outcry when design documents internal to CCP were leaked. They stated that pay to win microtransactions might be a way to increase revenue and the playerbase went mad with despair and fear. Luckily CCP listened to their players and limited microtransactions to cosmetic items which stifled the uproar. The cosmetic items are still a huge success because EvE has a playerbase that would buy such things. Wurm also has the sort of playerbase that would buy into cosmetic items. Most of the population resides on servers where you only do stuff for cosmetic reasons anyway. This is a way to boost revenue without changing a structure that players have been used to for years and gimping PvP servers to a pay to win game in the process. Wurm is very similar to certain other MMOs in terms of what players it attracts and what community is created, most notably EvE. It would be foolish to overlook the bad decisions that other companies have made, and ignore the good, instead of learning from them.
  22. Because it's low fantasy. Not high fantasy like most fantasy MMOs, which is rare.
